Woodstock was in the summer. The pandemic was a flu which, unless I’m mistaken, would not be around in the summer in the US. It would likely have re-circulated that winter, and many following flu seasons. These are not comparable viruses or pandemics.

Edit: I did some brief research and found some data to show the timing of that flu. Can see the graph here. Talk about fake news...cmon man.

I think you missed the point. The article didn’t say people were running around with the flu at Woodstock. The point was we had a comparable pandemic in 1969 without anywhere near the insane reaction. This is because of the crazy sensationalist media, and the fact that we’re stupid pussies now.

Except it’s not a comparable pandemic. 1968 flu was seasonal and considerably milder. I wasn’t suggesting people were running around with the flu, but that if you knew COVID was seasonal the reaction would be different.

Fact check: the pandemic was not active in the US during Woodstock. See post above. I read the Reuters article before and it’s lazy. Is it a fact that Woodstock took place in the middle of the pandemic? Yes. Was there significant disease activity anywhere near Woodstock at that time? No.

To extrapolate once more, of this were a flu pandemic, nothing from May-August would be cancelled this year.

On a selfish note, our son is engaged to be married 8/28 in Asheville, NC. Already cancelled some pre-wedding events, but hoping the wedding goes off as planned.
