The total number was 81K, and the change was less than 20K. Your article about 18K Alzheimer's deaths is also dated June 2020.
2. You are (correctly, IMO) citing the medical consequences of deferred care for other conditions due to COVID, but (incorrectly, IMO) directly attributing them to lockdowns when many of them are caused by hospitals, ER's, and ICUs that are at capacity because they are full of COVID patients. How would you suggest we address that? Not admit COVID patients? Obviously vaccination would seem to be a solution to reducing COVID hospitalizations and freeing up medical resources to care for other conditions (chronic or acute), but something tells me you aren't for that either.
So basically I think that you are attributing a grossly inflated number of COVID deaths to 'lockdowns' that lasted a month or two and have been over for 1+ years as a way to minimize the actual toll of COVID.

We are witnessing unprecedented disruptions and global delays and shortages on essential goods including electronics, food, fuel and medical supplies. Consumer demand is rising and the delays look set to worsen ahead of Christmas and continue into 2022.
We have all continued to keep global trade flowing throughout the pandemic, but it has taken a human toll. At the peak of the crew change crisis 400,000 seafarers were unable to leave their ships, with some seafarers working for as long as 18 months over their initial contracts. Flights have been restricted and aviation workers have faced the inconsistency of border, travel, restrictions, and vaccine restrictions/requirements. Additional and systemic stopping at road borders has meant truck drivers have been forced to wait, sometimes weeks, before being able to complete their journeys and return home.
It is of great concern that we are also seeing shortages of workers and expect more to leave our industries as a result of the poor treatment they have faced during the pandemic, putting the supply chain under greater threat.
In view of the vital role that transport workers have played during the pandemic and continue to play during the ongoing supply chain crisis, we request, as a matter of urgency, a meeting with WHO and the ILO at the highest level to identify solutions before global transport systems collapse. Back in the late 1990s the Australian government confiscated the guns from their citizens. I would argue that if we didn’t have 2nd Amendment rights, and a federal system where governors like Ron DeSantis are able to push back on Washington DC, that Fauci, Biden and the Democrats absolutely would’ve done the same thing and made our lives just as miserable as Australians. I'm not sure what Australia has done, and Tucker is certainly not a reliable source.
But, the US has 212 deaths per 100K people. Australia has 5 deaths per 100K people.
According to the Reuters article a few posts above, they’re in lockdown, though it’s not clearly defined how severe it is.

But in the era of COVID-19, it has turned into a cautionary tale of the limitless powers that governments can seize under the guise of protecting public health.
You won’t see a lot of headlines about it, but about half of Australia’s 25 million people are suffering under a severe, ongoing COVID lockdown. There are viral videos online of Australian police firing rubber bullets and deploying flashbang grenades against anti-lockdown protestors for the crime of simply being outside. These armed agents of the state clad in black riot gear zealously enforce outdoor mask measures on public streets, and will viciously arrest and faceplant into concrete those who transgress these idiotic rules.
Sydney, the most populous city in Australia, has been in lockdown for 14 weeks. Its regulations have included a 9 p.m. curfew and only an hour of outdoor exercise allowed a day – even though there is absolutely no scientific anti-COVID basis for either limitation.
When will the madness end? The government is talking about a “full reopen” when 80% of adults in the country are vaccinated. Currently, about 42% of Aussies have gotten the shot.
Why did Australia decide to implement a Down-Under version of an Orwellian dystopia? They would no doubt point to their very low COVID spread and fatality rate – 1,256 deaths out of 100,000 cases – as the primary justification.
The Isolationist Model
But the data also reflects, it’s much more likely that Australia’s isolation from the rest of the world – it’s notably an island, with a sparse population – played a larger role than lockdowns in suppressing the virus. Perth, in the fast west of Australia, is among the most isolated major cities in the world, and it currently has no lockdown and almost no cases. It’s not Australian’s mask policy that made the difference – it’s geography.
Apart from the debate over how to best suppress a virus (other than living on a remote island that can entirely restrict travel), there’s a very real concern growing that COVID policies are turning westernized societies into much more authoritarian places.
If the government can shut down your business or church, and even mandate that you stay inside your own home for weeks on end – all to combat a virus with a 99.7% survival rate – what can the government not do in the name of “public health”?
It’s not just Australia where these concerns have taken a turn into tyrannical reality… The U.S. has more than its share of statist demagogues in office, and the Biden administration appears equally drunk with power and incompetent with its hands on the steering wheel of government, especially when it comes to COVID.

Australia is still officially a democracy, but its COVID restrictions are severe. It’s hard to enter or leave the country unless you’re a politician or a celebrity. Citizens are tracked with apps and soon by facial recognition. In some states, you must have your phone scanned before entering a church. And some have been arrested for simply posting on social media about protests against COVD restrictions.
The rest of the world is starting to ask if Australia can still call itself a free country.
Australia’s lockdown has been so draconian, it’s brought comparisons on social media to how Australia began, as a prison colony.
A pregnant Australian mother was handcuffed and hauled away by cops in front of her children for simply posting on Facebook about a planned lockdown protest.
The charge was incitement.
Police helicopters look for lockdown violators. Officers have fired rubber bullets and tear gas at anti-lockdown protesters, including children.
James Allan, Garrick Professor in Law at the University of Queensland, calls it “heavy-handed despotism.”
“It's been appalling in Australia,” Allan says, “and I say that as a big fan of Australia. I'm Canadian. But it’s come as a real shock to me, how people have reacted in Australia.”
Australia consists of six states and two territories, each with its own COVID restrictions.
Under a new home quarantine plan, if you don’t send the government your photo and location when it sends you a text, the police will come to your door.
We asked Evan Mulholland at Australia’s conservative think tank, the Institute of Public Affairs, if he still considers Australia a free country.
“Well, it's a good question,” Mulholland replied, “It's a question a lot of people across the political spectrum have been asking. These things don't happen in a vacuum. They happen when the political and cultural elites slowly take away our freedoms and they become normalized.”
Australians have also begun turning one another into authorities, East German style. When an Australian mother was desperate to find a way home with her son and needed to cross a state border, violating lockdown restrictions, she was turned in to police.
Allan says, “The media has just scared people senseless. The average person thinks, ‘If I catch this, I'm going to die.’”
