Fair enough..I just wish people had a brain, stop reading extremist bullshit that is profiting off the bs (and yes I know pharm companies are making money while they do some good) and could figure vaccines are good all by themselves.

It’s time for the government to mandate infection for everyone, both vaccinated or unvaccinated. That will end Covid-19. Those unwilling to get infected are just being selfish.
I’m so glad Biden is “Shutting Down the Virus” like he campaigned on.
BTW. Vaccination rates for POC are the lowest of all groups. Can’t be because Kween Kamala stated that she wouldn’t “Trust a vaccine developed under Trump” , can it? (Shoulder shrug)
Shhhhh...don't bring that up. Everyone knows that vaccine reluctance is an 'angry white republican' problem tied directly to entitlement and privilege. It would be political suicide to point out the low vax rates in the African-American and Hispanic communities. Nothing to see here...move along
I’m not getting into all the back and forth…but from first hand knowledge, this long Covid stuff is real. I started having this parosmia stuff back in early April (think Crawford commented it was usually found with people with brain tumors…thanks for making my ass pucker), and still have it. I’ve lost about 25 pounds since April. Hell of a diet if you are obese…no bueno if you are 6’1” and are nearing the 160’s. It is slowly getting better…some good days…but then randomly, back to bad days. It is truly crazy…and we so early into this thing, the experts seem to be learning more and more each day.
I don’t feel like I’m a victim of Covid by any means…but it would be nice if my brain could stop making cooked food smell like feces and farts. It’s getting old…and I’m 48 and look like a shriveled up 90 year old man. I’ve also definitely had some long term respiratory issues. Used to jog 6 days a week. After being infected, I could barely jog half my route without having to stop from shortness of breath. Add in not eating…and jogging has become extremely difficult. Minor stuff…but I’ve definitely seen long term effects.
Nigel, hope things improve for you soon.
Be well, and stay safe.
Thanks, guys. But I'm doing fine. I haven't missed a day of work since the pandemic. When I had to quarantine in November, I was asymptemic and could work by phone/Zoom. I am one of the lucky ones through all this. This long term stuff isn't fun... but so far, so good. I probably will regret this, but I'll give you my few moronic opinions on this...
1. I simply don't get the mask outrage. If I go to a business and they want me to put on a mask...and I want to give that place my business, then I put on the mask. I just don't get the rage.
2. My whole family had Covid and we are all vaccinated. I kind of understand the sentiment of "if I got vaccinated and they didn't, fthey made their choice..."...but come on. I have no problem putting on a mask if it might help the unvaccinated. If it's not a big deal in the first example, it shouldn't be a big deal for the second.
I'm a moron. I can't wrap my head around all this...these are just the ramblings of a moron.
All the best Nigel. Keep fighting it. Hope the family is doing well now.
If it helps at all, I think of you as a slightly above average moron. :-)
I hope you and the family can put all this behind you with a full recovery. I have zero problem with putting a mask on to go into places that require them. It seems to be coming back around to wear masks. My wife just canceled her trip to Boston next week. No point in pushing things.
I have no problem with your points.
Again...thanks, everyone. But the entire family is healthy and happy...guess that's a pretty easy trade for some funky smelling and less jogging. Guess I'll walk more. Wife loves walking. Make lemonade out of lemons. Thanks for the kind words. Like I said...reading this thread...can't wrap my head around it.

And Vanden Bossche is an expert in the space with an extensive resume. He received his DVM from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and his PhD degree in Virology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. He has worked for several vaccine companies (GSK Biologicals, Novartis Vaccines, Solvay Biologicals) to serve various roles in vaccine R&D as well as in late vaccine development.
He also joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Health Discovery team in Seattle (USA) as Senior Program Officer before working with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) in Geneva as Senior Ebola Program Manager. At GAVI he tracked efforts to develop an Ebola vaccine. He also represented GAVI in fora with other partners, including WHO, to review progress on the fight against Ebola and to build plans for global pandemic preparedness.
He then joined the German Center for Infection Research in Cologne as Head of the Vaccine Development Office.
In a new blog post published yesterday, Vanden Bossche continued to raise questions about our mass vaccination program to fight Covid.
In a summary of his findings, he writes: "As of the early days of the mass vaccination campaigns, at least a few experts have been warning against the catastrophic impact such a program could have on global and individual health. Mass vaccination in the middle of a pandemic is prone to promoting selection and adaptation of immune escape variants that are featured by increasing infectiousness and resistance to spike protein (S)-directed antibodies (Abs), thereby diminishing protection in vaccinees and threatening the unvaccinated."
"This already explains why the WHO’s mass vaccination program is not only unable to generate herd immunity (HI) but even leads to substantial erosion of the population’s immune protective capacity," he continues. "As the ongoing universal mass vaccination program will soon promote dominant propagation of highly infectious, neutralization escape mutants (i.e., so-called ‘S Ab-resistant variants’), naturally acquired, or vaccinal neutralizing Abs, will, indeed, no longer offer any protection to immunized individuals whereas high infectious pressure will continue to suppress the innate immune defense system of the nonvaccinated."
"This is to say that every further increase in vaccine coverage rates will further contribute to forcing the virus into resistance to neutralizing, S-specific Abs. Increased viral infectivity, combined with evasion from antiviral immunity, will inevitably result in an additional toll taken on human health and human lives."

It’s interesting. These extremist blogs and the contrarians within them rely on fear and hysteria for clicks and indoctrination——the same things those same extremists/contrarians complain about regarding the mainstream media/government
Note to self: save comment #5577 for future reference....
What do you think Zero Hedge just made that up out of nowhere?
Here's the article from Geert Vanden Bossche, Head of the Vaccine Development Office for the German Center for Infection Research in Cologne:
https://www.geertvandenbossche.org/p...s-homo-sapiens
This is from the Journal of Infection published earlier this week: https://www.journalofinfection.com/a...392-3/fulltext
• Infection-enhancing antibodies have been detected in symptomatic Covid-19
• Antibody dependent enhancement (ADE) is a potential concern for vaccines
• Enhancing antibodies recognize both the Wuhan strain and Delta variants
• ADE of Delta variants is a potential risk for current vaccines
Note to self: Lou didn't link through on post #5576.
I'm not demonizing anything. I did look up the Bosshe guy.
According to his own CV, he was the "Head of the Vaccine Development Office for the German Center for Infection Research in Cologne."
For 4 months in 2017.
The Journal article mentions developers of the vaccines anticipated the risk, and urges more study to combat potential problems...always a good approach.
How did we go from "a marvel of science" and "95% efficacy" to "you are in mortal danger"?
I know the media is trying to gaslight us by moving the goal posts on what the Covid vaccines were supposed to do. But here are a few headlines from around the new year:
The UK Guardian ran this headline: "The vaccine miracle: how scientists waged the battle against Covid-19"
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ainst-covid-19
CNBC ran this quote: “To have a vaccine that is 95% effective, as the two vaccines we currently have are, is a medical marvel,” said Farrugia, who has led the Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic since January 2019.
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/22/covi...linic-ceo.html
Hartford HealthCare published this news item: "‘Miracle’ COVID-19 Vaccine Arriving in Hartford Within Two Week"
https://hartfordhospital.org/about-h...4&publicid=461
And the good old NIH ran this headline "Pfizer: The miracle vaccine for COVID-19?", while stating this "Although distancing, masks, and lockdowns have slowed the spread of COVID-19, a vaccine can protect individuals and create lasting change. The COVID-19 vaccine will enable individuals to develop immunity to the SARS-CoV 2 pathogen"

Rush forward ~8 months later and we have this:
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is now urging elderly Israelis to get a booster shot (a 3rd jab) because "you are in mortal danger."
In an audio recording distributed via social media, Bennett said:
“Hi, this is the Prime Minister here,” Bennett said in the recording. “I am calling on older people in the public, especially people over sixty, but also people fifty and up, who haven’t yet gotten the third shot, the booster, to tell them: your lives and your health are very important to me, but so long as you haven’t gotten vaccinated with the third dose, you are in mortal danger. Go out and get vaccinated.”
Remember - Israel is well ahead of the US in terms of vax rates. It's likely we will see similar messages here in the not too distant future...
It is not likely, it is certain:

From the school of "No Shit Sherlock" comes this new study: "Physical inactivity is associated with a higher risk for severe COVID-19 outcomes"
https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/early/2...ts-2021-104080
Berenson is 100% correct:
"When you’re deciding whether to listen to the public health geniuses about vaccines, keep in mind that forcing everyone inside and closing parks and other lockdown nonsense almost certainly killed people last year"
I'll add that many "western civilized" countries around the world are still locking down their citizens. Australia is run by complete psychos - if you're not aware of what's going on there you really should educate yourselves. Would not be surprised to see a massive uprising in that country. But then again, that country confiscated guns several years ago....
I'll also add this: why have we never heard Fauci et al recommend / implore people to exercise - and more importantly, lose weight? We've been at this for over 18 months and I've not once heard any of these bozos make this critical recommendation, as the vast majority of deaths and hospitalizations associated with Covid are obese and overweight. Not only is this a complete dereliction of their duty, but to ignore this fact is downright criminal.

Ahh yes, because only crazy “don’t tread on me” people are against masks. The well educated, well read, critical thinking people - you know, the ones who realize masks don’t do anything to stop COVID - agree.
By the way, the CDC recommends eating your own feces to reduce COVID impacts. Have at it, “bro”.
With today’s CDC announcement recommending boosters for EVERYONE, I’m sure the vaccine-hesitant will run right out and get their first dose. Friggin’ brilliant… again.

Fauci, also the White House chief medical advisor, has been a lifelong runner, but these days power walks three to four miles each evening, he said.
Fauci’s health advice to others is pretty straightforward: “Take care of yourself and get some reasonable sleep,” he said. “Don’t get overcome by stress. Have a good diet.”
A few things that Fauci doesn’t recommend? “Don’t smoke, don’t drink too much,” he said. “Enjoy life, but don’t do things in excess.”

Quote:
An officer with the U.S. Navy is warning of a full-blown “national security threat” if the military moves ahead with its planned universal COVID-19 vaccination mandate, in a paper obtained exclusively by Revolver News.
In a memorandum released on Monday, Biden Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced his intention to require a COVID-19 vaccination for all servicemembers by mid-September, or immediately should any COVID vaccines clear FDA approval (the vaccines are currently only authorized for emergency use). Servicemen who refuse to submit to the vaccine will potentially face court martials, prison time, and even less-than-honorable discharge from the service.
If that plan goes ahead, though, CDR J.H. Furman warns the results could conceivably be catastrophic.
“The forced vaccination of all military personnel with the present COVID-19 vaccines may compromise U.S. national security due to the unknown extent of serious vaccine complications,”writes Furman. “Further study is needed before committing the Total Force to one irreversible experimental group. Initial reports leave more concern for the COVID-19 vaccinations than the virus itself for the (at present) exceptionally healthy military population.”
Quote:
Furman’s key points are:
The average member of the U.S. military is young and in excellent physical fitness, two categories that are nearly immune to the dangers of COVID. So far, only 24 people out of 2.2 million military personnel have died of COVID-19, a rate of less than one per 91,000.
There is reason to believe severe or even fatal side-effects from existing COVID-19 vaccines are more common than reported, and could even prove deadlier to otherwise-healthy servicemen than COVID-19.
There is also the outlier possibility that mRNA vaccines (the kind used by the Moderna and Pfizer shots) may have unanticipated negative effects on the immune systems of recipients.
Currently, the U.S. military has proven completely capable of weathering COVID-19 without any loss of effectiveness, so forcibly making the entire service a test case for a novel type of vaccine is a pointless risk.
New Zealand is locking down over one case.

Really, are you that much of an idiot? It's a freaking puff profile piece! It's about him - it's not about public health policy! Where in the hell in that tiny piece does he tell people that they need to lose weight and exercise to avoid a bad outcome associated with Covid? Besides, even if he did, it's something he needs to be saying all the time.
Good grief, how can you defend this - not necessarily the part in which you're trying to gaslight me and the other readers here - but rather the fact that Fauci is absolutely 100% criminally negligent on this.
From The Atlantic:
"Before the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, only four known coronaviruses were circulating among humans, including 229E. All four of these coronaviruses cause common colds, and in the most optimistic scenario, experts have told me, our newest coronavirus will end up as the fifth. In that case, COVID-19 might look a lot like a cold from 229E—recurrent but largely unremarkable."
"We’ll have to adjust our thinking about COVID-19 too. The coronavirus is not something we can avoid forever; we have to prepare for the possibility that we will all get exposed one way or another. “This is something we’re going to have to live with,” says Richard Webby, an infectious-disease researcher at St. Jude. “And so long as it’s not impacting health care as a whole, then I think we can.” The coronavirus will no longer be novel—to our immune systems or our society."
"“Our immune responses are so complex, it’s basically impossible for a virus to escape them all,” says Sarah Cobey, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Chicago. For example, levels of antibodies that quickly neutralize SARS-CoV-2 do indeed drop over time, as happens against most pathogens, but reserves of B cells and T cells that also recognize the virus lie in wait. This means that immunity against infection may wane first, but the protection against severe illness and death are much more durable."
- no shit, how many times have I said this... but nooooo, Fauci said blah blah blah...
"The transition to endemic COVID-19 is also a psychological one. When everyone has some immunity, a COVID-19 diagnosis becomes as routine as diagnosis of strep or flu—not good news, but not a reason for particular fear or worry or embarrassment either. That means unlearning a year of messaging that said COVID-19 was not just a flu. If the confusion around the CDC dropping mask recommendations for the vaccinated earlier this summer is any indication, this transition to endemicity might be psychologically rocky."
- let me translate this: we really fucked up world health policy....
