I’m aware of when Joe was going after Commies and your comment/argument was used after by Lefties to silence any legitimate concerns about Communist influence in the US for decades. My sources are fine.

To be fair Joe Manchin and my Gov in CO (to my surprise) are pretty good Dems. But yeah, the party is moving well past Liberal, to full blown Leftist authoritarianism. Heck, they lost almost all the the Libertarians. Even Bill Maher is trying to get the Left to pump the brakes on the crazy train and Glen Greenwald now aligns more with Republicans.
