Apparently the county in which the Bills play football will be requiring fans to be fully vaccinated in order to attend games in the fall.
Cuomo says he isn't sure they have the power to require that but the county disagrees since the stadium is county property.
Hopefully by the fall that position will be facially absurd and they'll drop the policy.
I hope so! Some people are furious, understandably. Some who have had their shots refuse to attend due to the “proof requirement”, including season ticket holders with a significant investment. Others have kids they take to games who aren’t even eligible at this point. It was WAY too soon to open this can of worms, but there is one train of thought that they were trying to push people to get shots.
Can you imagine how long it would take to load a 70k seat stadium having to check for vaccines and ID as planned? It’s bad enough as it is!
A fascinating article about people who get Covid after being vaccinated.
Doesn't seem like we are set up to do good PCR tests on them and track the results yet...especially in identifying variants involved.
A national standard protocol would seem helpful.
We're still winning if the vaccine is 95%+ effective and preventing hospitalizations and deaths, but boy it has cost us a lot of Americans.
D-West, you might find the part about immunocompromised people interesting.

Brief but interesting NEJM article describing some data from Europe on the mechanism of clotting.
Basically these reactions mimic Heparin-Induced Thombocytopenia (HIT), a condition that can cause low platelets and similar clots as the vaccine recipients. The vaccine recipients however did not receive heparin with their vaccine.
If you follow a trail of some references in this article you will see some other incidences of clotting from other conditions, even surgeries in which the patient did not receive any heparin. For instance, a knee replacement patient developed the same blood clot in the brain along with low platelets shortly after knee replacement surgery. It is thought that the tourniquet used during surgery somehow provoked a reaction in the vessels and subsequent syndrome of clotting and low platelets. Another instance is cited here: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full...04.2014.979338
So what does all of this mean? Do we suspend knee replacements because of the extremely low risk of spontaneous HIT syndrome? Well, no of course not. But knowing this risk is present is important. I know I have seen this condition in a covid patient, but it was difficult to connect the disease and the condition as it is common for ICU patients to develop elevated levels of PF-4 heparin antibodies. Because of the situation of rapid vaccine rollout that we have never seen before, every adverse event is under the microscope. My opinion is that the benefit of the vaccine outweighs the current risks associated with it. Hopefully it is exclusive to the virus vector vaccines and remains extremely low incidence.Quote:
Recent studies suggest that a thromboembolic disorder resembling heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), so-called spontaneous HIT syndrome, can occur in patients without any history of heparin exposure. It is likely due to anti-platelet factor 4 (PF4)/polyanion antibodies induced by other polyanions, such as bacterial surfaces and nucleic acids. We describe an atypical case of spontaneous HIT syndrome. A 70-year-old man suddenly presented with acute cerebral sinus thrombosis (CST)
Just got my Moderna #1. Do you guys believe me or do I need to post a selfie with my vaccine card while making a duck face?
I could literally make a vaccine card using my office graphics and printing capabilities. It's laughable that those cards would be used as some sort of official document.
You joke, but if you did, you would get a free beer:

Great presentation/analysis from Dr. Ryan Cole:

This was released which all but confirms what I have seen clinically and commented on earlier:
Cerebral venous thrombosis: a retrospective cohort study of 513,284 confirmed COVID-19 cases and a comparison with 489,871 people receiving a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine
Basically 10 times higher incidence of blood clot in brain in covid patients than vaccine patients.
It looks like masks may not be just a pointless nuisance. They are detrimental:

The demonstration of seasonality is now undeniable. Even Osterholm said as much today.

Could this turn Oregon into a red state?
A top health official is considering indefinitely extending rules requiring masks and social distancing in all businesses in the state: https://apnews.com/article/coronavir...30da5a8648af95
To my pro-mask friends... is the agenda starting to become a little clearer?
Now even some in the leftist press are starting to realize that Dr. Fauci is likely up to his eyeballs in the creation of this pandemic.
Comments are from Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin:
“And then we’ve got to check out all the labs here,” he said. “Turn over some rocks that are going to make some people very uncomfortable.”
“We’re going to need to investigate the lab,” he said. “And that means asking some tough questions of Anthony Fauci, and I’m sure he doesn’t want to be asked those questions, but tough.”
“Those labs were working with American labs, labs funded with $200 million in taxpayer money,” he said. “All of the gain of function research that was being done.”
Rogin said Peter Daszak and Fauci are “scared to death” of the Wuhan lab theory “not because the lab theory implicates China.”
“It implicates us,” he said. “It’s about our work with the Chinese scientists funded by U.S taxpayers.”

Mask wearing has just become a matter of personal choice imho. I wear one where required. No big deal. I've been traveling the country for the last 6 weeks after getting my shots and mask wearing varies widely. Texas, Florida, Atlanta, Catalina Island, all different. Walked into restaurants in Fl., Texas and Ga. where nobody was wearing one. Just walked down the street where they were still required. No big deal for me. Do what you're comfortable with.
Why aren't you comfortable 6 weeks after your shots going someplace where people aren't wearing masks? Particularly a restaurant where mask/no mask really doesn't make a difference.
As I said. Personal choice. Do what you want. You want to eat where nobody wears a mask, including the servers, go ahead. As I said, no big deal.
Agree. Just curious why you're uncomfortable with it. You can obviously do as you like.
Once vaccinated, it really doesn't matter. However, outside of vaccine passports, how do you know who and who isn't vaccinated? So until the numbers greatly decrease I think the mandates should stay in place.
Personally, I think Governors who are keeping the mask mandates in place are doing businesses a huge favor by taking the heat. The last thing I want my staff to do is argue with idiots about wearing or not wearing a mask. Now, we can just throw up our hands and say it is our of our control and blame the governor. Makes our mask policy seem apolitical and avoids pissing off clients who are on either far end of the spectrum.
Bill Maher sheds some light on why Democrats are so afraid of Covid - they believe the lies they're being fed by the mainstream media, and live in a news vacuum.
* 41% of Democrats believe that 50% of those who contract Covid need hospitalization, while another 28% of Democrats believe that 20-49% of people who contract Covid need hospitalization!!
The correct answer: 1-5%
This is precisely why Democrat run states and cities have been allowed to lockdown their citizens, and keep them masked-up.
Maher doesn't hold back on other criticisms of other Democrat beliefs on other Covid issues:

Here is an article that sums up my situation perfectly. Talks about 2 people who have the exact same diagnosis I have and even quotes the immunologist I see once a year in NYC and consult with throughout the year. Good read if anyone is interested.
This quote from my immunologist is biggest takeaway to me for people who don't understand how getting vaccinated does help your neighbors as well as yourself, which one poster here seemed to argue against/not understand.
“People like Mr. Lotito depend on those around them choosing to be vaccinated to keep the virus at bay, Dr. Cunningham-Rundles said.
“You’re hoping that your entire family members and all your close colleagues are going to go out and get some shot, and they’re going to be protecting you with herd immunity,” she said. “That’s what you have to start with.””

I have been very lucky and thankful that those in my family and my co-workers and some close friends either have been or are getting vaccinated.
And to be clear, that is what I am doing, taking care of myself. I have no problem not seeing friends or family who choose not to get vaccinated unless I see them outside socially distanced. And like I said I am lucky all my co workers got the vaccine, so I am good at work. And as shitty as it is, there will be things I wont be able to do, like go to Xavier games even when fans back allowed, until cases drop to non significant numbers.
With that response you either didn't read the article or you are just a dick. Imagine telling a former cancer patient, who's immune system has been ravaged by meds, who is trying to educate people how getting vaccinated does help them, to rely/take care of themselves and piss off.
I’d like to know what % of the pop is truly anti vaccine and isn’t going to get one?
Wonder if it wouldn’t be an issue if people weren’t being told what to do and self important people weren’t virtue signaling so much. Just make the how to out there there for awareness, stopping bugging people about it and this quickly becomes a non issue.
My thoughts on that:
1. I think relatively speaking true anti-vaxx people is low but increasing.
2. Do you feel people are being told what to do when it comes to the vaccine? Do you feel that is what I was doing with my post? I think they are with masks, I don't see that as the case with the vaccine. Stores can and are kicking people out who don't mask, that isn't the case with the vaccine.
3. If your thoughts are right, that is a said state of affairs wouldn't you agree? Education about the importance of the vaccine and how it helps you and others shouldnt trigger an F you, I am not getting it response.
21%
https://thehill.com/policy/healthcar...9-vaccine-pollQuote:
The survey showed stark divisions along party lines over vaccine hesitancy. Forty-three percent of registered Republicans said they would not get a shot, compared with 22 percent of independents and 5 percent of Democrats.
Oh yeah, just speaking about purely COVID-19 vaccine the anti-vaccine people are much higher than true all encompassed anti-vaxx people that I think is relatively low. But I guess my orginal answer wasn't answering the right question since we are obviously only talking about the CVOID vaccine.
1. I agree, not sure if its increasing or the coverage/shaming is.
2. Not told but shamed and harassed. No, not you or your post.
3. The F you comes from the shaming and virtue signaling. And people being sick of masks/lock downs plays a part. Especially when some say the getting the vax may not open things up.
I’d like to look at the sample sizes of each group. The number of Rs doesn’t seem right and I don’t want to comment with any sort of belief without knowing the relative samples and socio-economic/educational demographics. If consistent across the political spectrum those numbers would be surprising.
