Just curious, is this a completely made up number? Seems like it.

I agree itÂ’s no big deal to wear one, and I do wear them. Not because I actually believe they help (it has been widely demonstrated they donÂ’t). But I wear them just to make people feel better. I like making people feel happy - IÂ’m nice that way.
But why do something silly for no benefit? What if the CDC said to I should wear a Darth Vader helmet? It wouldnÂ’t be a big deal to for me to do that, and actually kind of fun. But that that accomplished nothing either, so I would I would speak out against it too.
Which brings me to the better question. Do you believe masks work, or are you going along with it because itÂ’s no big deal?
I think it mitigates some risk..to what extent? Not sure but I’m sure it is certainly something. I’m not about the government telling me what to do, trust me but if by me wearing a mask it keeps someone from getting a pretty shitty disease, I’ll do it. There will come a time when we don’t have to do it anymore, and think that’s coming very soon short of maybe a couple of places
Regardless of whether or not you think wearing a mask helps or not, It's like wearing Shoes that are too small, It feels so good when you take them off.
I shouldn't be, but I'm actually surprised that CBS hasn't apologized and fired some people over that complete hatchet job they did on the DeSantis story they aired over the weekend.
It is extremely early and a lot can happen between now and the next presidential election, but never too early to do a political hit job on one of the projected Republican candidates. Hit them early so they won’t be effective in the primary even if it’s complete garbage.
In all seriousness, if a person had already received both vaccine shots and it was 14+ days passed the second, when can said person take off his mask in Ohio?
Asking for a friend.
Got my first Pfizer shot this morning....glad to be halfway there and that as a nation we are getting closer to normalcy.
Slacker. I get Pfizer #2 later today.
I got Pfizer #2 last week. The next day was a bit rough, but nothing too bad. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately I think this is more confusing messaging just to get non vaccinated people to not lax on masking.
I read an article that interviewed many top docs in this area and one said "if there is another vaccine out there where the person vaccinated can still get and transmit to others what they are vaccinated against, I don't know of it"
I think it is a cover your ass/lets not rile up the non vaccinated people statement to say you have to continue to wear your mask because you might still transmit it. Unfortunately it unintentionally down plays the vaccine and how effective it is and it again muddies the message.
It's either cover your ass, or erring on the side of caution.
Why not do the latter...especially if your friend is not yet vaccinated? What could it possibly hurt?

There just needs to be more of this bullet imo:
"Taking steps towards relaxing certain measures for vaccinated people may help improve COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and uptake."
And I have no problem requiring people to show proof of vaccination to be able to do different things or relax certain restrictions. Give incentive to others to get vaccinated.
That's how I feel. I don't really have a problem continuing to mask up in stores or whatever, but I do think that the idea of having to still take full precautions after being vaccinated is a bit ridiculous. I get that it's much easier for businesses to just require masks from everyone, but still...
Again, it isnt a problem in general to wear a mask (well for most normal people) but the point I think you are missing Paul, is that there are a decent % of people out there who are on the fence about getting the vaccine, that if given the ability to not have to follow some restrictions if they got vaccinated, would get vaccinated. They however see the rules are the same for everyone vaccinated or not and decide what's the point of getting the vaccine?
I see this attitude in nursing homes we do business in. There were no different rules for those vaccinated and those not. It caused a whole lot of healthcare workers to say "screw it" to the vaccine who work with the most vulnerable population.
Just this week did Ohio make some changes for those vaccinated. In nursing homes this whole time practically every employee had to be tested for COVID twice a week. Just this week did they change it to once a week for those vaccinated and twice a week still for those not. Honestly even that is incentive if you can reduce by 50% how often you have to have that test shoved up into your brain. That change should have happened months ago.
The goal should be getting as many people motivated to get the vaccine as possible.
I agree with this. I get that it is difficult to screen everybody all the time for vaccination status in public places that require a mask, so the easy thing to do is just require the mask for everyone.
In a situation that you mention in which you are dealing with a stable group of employees it absolutely makes sense to relax restrictions for the vaccinated population.
For me, I was happy to get vaccinated for a few reasons:
1. Reduce the spread of COVID 19 so we can all go back to normal
2. Return to socializing indoors, visiting family, etc.
3. Doing whatever I want without having to worry about contracting COVID
Here's a comprehensive article chronicling the buffoonery of our government COVID anti-science response, from the negligible effects on children to asymptomatic spread, to the inefficacy of masks. Enjoy.
Masking: A Careful Review of the Evidence – AIER
TEXAS. Fully open. Cases & Deaths falling despite sky falling “expert” predictions.
New York, New Jersey CT etc still with huge restrictions. Cases rising still.
Maybe all this panic stuff of a year with a disease with a 99.7% surviveability rate was, uh, overstated?
600,000 excess deaths ain't nothin.
C'mon MOR, posting the survivability rate, like it is some sort of gotcha, is so intellectually lazy. Look at the death numbers, look at those who didn't die but are stuck with lifelong complications.
Are there arguments to be made some things should have been handled differently? Of course. But pretending like COVID has been no big deal? Ridiculous.
Scamdemic. Greedemic.
Easily explained... One only has to look at this analysis (among others I've posted in this thread):
"This site recently ran an article covering the brave exploits of Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen. He and a colleague in the state legislature uncovered evidence that somewhere between 25-40% of Minnesota’s death certificates listed Covid as the cause of death when, in fact, that was not true. Examples of drowning, automobile accidents, and even just potential exposure found out after the fact have been included in the state’s tally. For his efforts of merely pointing out the obvious, he was threatened with revocation of his medical license.
Exaggerated figures are just the first part of a larger narrative problem. By digging into publicly available – but unreported data – the astounding fact is that almost two-thirds of all Covid deaths in the state occurred in just long-term care facilities. What this means is that a minute percentage of an already-sequestered population contributed to the vast majority of totals used to justify the inducement of fear and the erosion of individual liberties. The foreboding, but ultimately false, narrative has enabled the perpetuation of freedom-scorching executive orders and the cessation of common sense thinking in at least half the state’s duped population. You can't explain away excess deaths.
This is an interesting example of the lemming effect.
The narrative gets repeated so many times, by those claiming they are just following the science to justify the power play, when the 'science' was not only never there, but, in some ways, contradictory.
The 'negative' affects: education, depression, suicides, child abuse, neglect, not to mention the destruction of middle and lower class jobs, lives and families are not insignificant.
And the trillions of dollars...
We keep getting pounded with the number of deaths - which is certainly not insignificant either - but certainly seems dubious at best. The lemmings just take for granted that the number is gospel and jump off the narrative cliff.
All the while claiming, "It's science".
Who's science is it anyway?
I realize that you are simply repeating this information from Fauci. However, it's complete nonsense and just more fearmongering. If it were true, then you are advocating for masks indefinitely. If the danger of the virus being carried in nasal passages was true, then there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of viruses being stored in our nasal passages right now, just waiting to be passed on to another unsuspecting human. The real question is how did civilization manage to survive thru the millennia without masks?
AIER is a great website. Here's another article just published yesterday. Two quotes from the article:
“Graphene is a strong, very thin material that is used in fabrication, but it can be harmful to lungs when inhaled and can cause long-term health problems.” We argue that there is a risk of potential ‘future’ inflammatory/fibrotic lung diseases because we are inhaling these materials in the masks now for over one year with more duration to come and no end in sight...... “Health Canada has issued a warning about blue and gray disposable face masks, which contain an asbestos-like substance associated with “early pulmonary toxicity.” The warning is specific to potentially toxic masks distributed within schools and daycares across Quebec. Health Canada (and full praise to them)….“discovered during a preliminary risk assessment that the masks contain microscopic graphene particles that, when inhaled, could cause severe lung damage.”
"There are also reports of toxic mold, fungi, and bacteria that can pose a significant threat to the immune system by potentially weakening it. Of particular concern to us is the recent report of breathing in synthetic fibers in the face masks. This is of serious concern to us. "Loose particulate was seen on each type of mask. Also, tight and loose fibers were seen on each type of mask. If every foreign particle and every fiber in every facemask is always secure and not detachable by airflow, then there should be no risk of inhalation of such particles and fibers. However, if even a small portion of mask fibers is detachable by inspiratory airflow, or if there is debris in mask manufacture or packaging or handling, then there is the possibility of not only entry of foreign material to the airways, but also entry to deep lung tissue, and potential pathological consequences of foreign bodies in the lungs."

And as you might expect, masks are becoming a major environmental disaster as well:

Are you anti-masking guys getting the vaccine?
Got my 1st shot two days ago. But I hold no ill will against those who wish not to get the vaccine. I believe that people can and are aloud to make their own decisions without getting harassed.
I don’t think anyone should be harassed but there very well may be aspects of society in which those who choose not to get vaccinated can’t participate. Certain jobs, especially medical ones will most likely start to require it (I have seen some already), schools probably will add it eventually (when kids under 16 start to be allowed to get it) to their list of required vaccinations.
I don’t want to hear those people bitch later on if they can’t do something bc they are not vaccinated.
