That beer flight sounds like the breakfast menu at First Watch.
In other local notes, I see the ownership of Zip's changed hands.
Isn't First Watch great? I hear its the Five Guys of breakfast places.
Just a reminder - next month is Cincinnati Beer Week (Feb 13-21) - This year they are changing it up, the past two Beer Weeks have been a lead up to the Cincinnati Winter Beerfest, this year they are letting Beerfest go first, and then following that up. I don't know who decided to change up the order there.
CBW started off last weekend with the TapRoom Trolleys, I missed this years as I decided to go to Butler (but I did get to Sun King, and if you get there try the Alakazam if they still have it on, it's a blonde stout (actually a blonde coffee stout), similar to Stone Master of Disguise - except Sun King did a lot better job with it) . Besides unlike last year we now have at least two, possibly more, credible craft beer bus tours that are available just about any weekend you want to take one. Also Tap Room Trolley split it up into 3 tours (there are just that many tap rooms in the area), but they did it where the three I wanted to see the most were all on a separate tour, so youo would have to do all 3 which isn't even possible.
This year I decided to up my beer game, and go for the $$$ Connosieurs level admission to Cincy Winter Beerfest. That one is supposed to include a dinner by the bite paired with special rare/premium craft beers. I have Friday tickets (2/13/15) if anybody else is going/ wants to meet up.
Jackie O's Mystic Mama has been my go-to IPA for a while now. I was a little nervous when fire hit Athens, but I understand that their production doesn't take place where the fire was.
I've vbeen meaning to mention Growler House on here. It's a newish (opened 12/2/14) craft beer bar in the Walnut Hills Area, right next to De Sales Corner. Also convenient to Cintas Center as it is right up Victory Parkway.
30 taps (1 nitro) - they say they want to keep about half the taps local brewers, and the other half regional/national. They are still working out some kinks and fine tuning some other things, but it seems like things are coming togther.
"Hoppy" hour before 6pm - $4 Snifters or $10 Flights of five (with some exclusions for the expensive/rare stuff) - Otherwise it gets up to about $2-$4 for the 5oz taster and $6-$8 for the full pour. As the name suggests they do offer Growler fills as long as the brewer permits it, as well as a small but growing bottle shop.
Just another local option. (And no, I have nothing to do with it except drink beer there :) )
Oh, every other Wednesday is a Flight Night with a named brewers products - mostly locals, but they did Bell's for their first one, and tonight is Warped Wing (Dayton).
And you know what beer Jackie O's released right at the time of the fire? Wood Burner! (Yes, the name was decided on before the fire)
I have not had Mystic Mama, but what I have had from Jackie O has been nice.
I paid a visit to Rhinegeist brewery this weekend, very cool place. I have enjoyed all of their beers I have tried, and brewery was a very unique experience. I have never been to anything like it in this town, or any other. Just their beer, a few wines, no food, bunch of picnic tables, cornhole, and ping pong tables in a warehouse like space.
I have been drinking their Pure Fury lately, as I am always a sucker for pale ales. I had the Mosaic (limited release) on tap this weekend at their brewery, and it was tasty.
