Good talk. I'm glad I'm not crazy... I'm sure my delivery doesn't help the message sometimes, but as you can see I hardly post. And I don't use this forum as a public journal of my thoughts as the season goes along like some, haha.

At one of the lowest points in the season (post Gonzaga I believe) that I still felt that this team is special. I feel vindicated already, but if they are to continue this to the F4 - it wouldn't surprise me. This is a resolute, resilient group that has the talent. If they can keep their wits about them, they can outsmart some of the more talented teams. Hopefully, I will have an excuse to finally visit New Orleans.

If they join the A10, so be it. I wish them well with the transition. I honestly do. My in-laws would be happy, which makes me happy. If their transition is beneficial to the A10 - awesome, we need another good program. But until it is an inevitability, I will fight it tooth and nail. I don't think it's as good of a fit as the national media does - because I go to more than one game a year, live here, and am surrounded by lifetime ticket holders as family. Hey - even some more realistic BU fans have expressed concern of BU returning to the days of the MCC as a mid-lower tier team if they join the A10.

X will dismantle ND tonight. I hope. Let's go X!

I can't tell if you agree wholeheartedly with me or are just baiting me... haha.

I think that your concerns are founded. I don't want to come off as completely dismissive of Butler as a program, especially given their recent success. But the reality is, I attend just as many Butler games as their "fanbase" being that my in-laws are season ticket holders. People just don't show up.

Plus, like I predicted - they didn't make the NIT this year. Florida did the same after they won back to back tourneys but they lost the entire squad to graduation and the NBA. Butler lost Howard (huge loss) to graduation and Mack to early NBA. I found that Mack departure especially puzzling given the pending lockout at the time and the fact that he would have average 20+ pts a game this year as "the man." Wouldn't have hurt his NBA stock. Pitt made the CBI this year, is Dixon on the hot seat? You bet! Is Stevens? NO WAY. That mentality of "dear little old us" is frightening.

Get pumped! The Conference Carousel ride has started up again!
  6. MOR, thanks for the response. If it isn't too much trouble, please forward his email address to me. We were in the same class together ('78) - The Crawl, as he was nicknamed and I spent some time together off and on and, if I recall correctly, he also was an Accounting major. I don't intend to bomb him with emails; I just want him to know we're thinking about him. Thanks - xudash

    Hey, Dash.

The last I heard was that the recovery was progressing well. I've sent an e-mail to him and his wife, however, to get an update. I'm sure I'll get a response soon. I'll post something when I get something more definitive.

    Thanks for thinking of him.

You have been killing it on the board.
  9. vee,

We aren't going to make it now. Babette just came off a long trip and we have some things going on down here we have to address.

I lost interest when we - your planning group - learned that we only had about 5 people respond that they would attend. What a class! Also, I talked to Mark and he can't make it from Chicago anyway. They're moving back into their house that weekend after having completed some extensive renovation work.

Otherwise, Babette and I are going to come up for UMass or Fordham - Jan. 31 or Feb. 14, respectively - as guests of the Office of Development. I'll keep you posted about that in the event you could make one of those games. If I recall from here, you drive down for every game. Look forward to seeing you then.

You are a true Muskie sir!

Have a great time this weekend.

    Hello Dave,

    Hello Dave,

The last two e-mails that I sent to you were returned to me as undeliverable. I am using the same address that I had been, so am not sure what to make of it. In case you didn't get the message, we are meeting at a cocktail party in the Cintas Center, instead of Gallagher on Friday night before the game. Mary Ann told me that there is free food and booze there, so it didn't make sense for us to meet elsewhere. Free booze and food were enough for me to say okay. The cocktail party goes from 5-7 p.m. and we go directly into the game from there. I asked Mary Ann to send this info a class e-mail and post on the Xavier website, along with a note that some (if not all) of us will be heading to Dana's after the game. Hope all is well.

    Matt V.
