Turning Point Against Kent

With X down 28-22 and coming back from being down 28-17, Tutu hits a 30+ foot long three as the shot clock heads toward zero. That makes it 28-25, the fans rise to their feet in support of X on defense and X finishes with a 36-34 halftime lead.

To me this was the turning point of the game. After Tutu made his shot, Kent came down and broke X's 8-0 run with a three pointer. Had Tutu missed that shot, there arena would have not been rocking and the Kent three would have extended Kent's lead back to nine.

Overall Holloway played an excellent game, but to me there was not bigger play in that game then the three I just noted. It finalized the change of momentum for the rest of the game.

On another note, I just want to congratulate coach Mack, his staff and he entire Xavier team for not giving up when the game started as it did. The team persevered and won the game against a decent opponent. Kent had a lot of energy early and it took X by surprise. But the good guys never quit and this win is a good building block about dealing with adversity. Well done on all fronts last night.

Holloway has been the most consistent player this year by far. The point guard slot is in good hands for the next three years, for sure ...

I think that Holloway has played consistently well this year. For us to be good it was critical for him to play well. I am pleased. I think this team will come together sooner or later and we will make another run at an A-10 title and beyond.

That was a big play.

Probably for the next six years with Dee coming into the fold.

I almost agree with you, I thought the Tutu three was going to be, but then they hit that three and shut our fans up quickly. However, right after that three was the big dunk by McLean which sent the fans in a frenzy again. To me, that response by McLean was the turning point.

I think you're both correct because it's more of a time period than an individual play. Both of the plays you mentioned happened during that "turning period" against KSU. I really think it's too tough to say that a 40-minute game was changed by one single play. But, again, both of the plays you guys mentioned were huge plays during the time when the tone of the game seemed to change.

Terrell was solid against Kent State and has been all year. I appreciate his poise and watching him play.
