| » FACILITIES: THE CINTAS CENTER |
The state-of-the-art Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University, which opened for the 2000-01 academic year, includes a 10,250-seat arena, home to the men's and women's basketball teams as well as the volleyball team. In addition to serving as the home for Xavier athletic events, the facility is the setting for commencement as well as outside exhibits, concerts, trade shows, weddings and family entertainment events. The Cintas Center doors are less than 200 yards from Xavier's residence halls.
Cintas Center provides Xavier University with one of the finest on-campus arenas in the entire nation. In addition to serving as the home court for basketball and volleyball, the facility features a full-size practice gymnasium, an athletic training room and a strength conditioning room for the benefit of all Xavier student-athletes.
Additional features of the facility include four full-size locker rooms (men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball and a visiting team locker room), two officials' locker rooms and a media room.
The Xavier athletic teams have taken full advantage of Cintas Center as evidenced by each team's record as well as the attendance figures over the last five years. The men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball teams have been among the best in the Atlantic 10 Conference over the past five years as each team has won more than 75 percent of its games played in XU's on-campus home.
Xavier's men's basketball team has drawn an average of 10,076 fans per game while posting a 65-10 (.867) record at Cintas Center. The women's basketball team led the league in attendance during the 2004-05 season as the Musketeers drew an average of 1,466 per contest and own a mark of 56-17 (.767) in the history of the building. XU's volleyball team has been the most dominant as Floyd Deaton's squad has amassed a record of 48-7 (.873) while averaging 493 spectators per match.
Spectators also benefit from the many amenities of the five-year-old facility which include a top of the line media production suite that allows for in-house video of all home events. Other important features of Cintas Center are the 22 luxury box suites, great sight lines from all seats in the arena, a team store and the Joseph Club and Duff's Lounge, which allow for fan gatherings prior to and after many home games.
The majority of the XU Athletic Department staff is based in the Siemers Family Athletic Office Suite, which is located on the fourth floor along with the Schiff Family Conference Center.
Cintas Center is named in honor of the generous personal support of executives of the Cincinnati-based uniform company. Robert J. Kohlhepp, Vice Chairman of Cintas, is a member of the Xavier Board of Trustees and served as the chairman of XU's convocation center committee.
There are five levels to Cintas Center: event level, dining mezzanine, main concourse, conference level and upper concourse.
An important component of Cintas Center is the Schiff Family Conference Center, a sophisticated, high-tech conference center and banquet hall that can accommodate gatherings from a small corporate board meeting to a banquet party for 500. It provides a new and exciting setting for area businesses and community organizations to conduct meetings, workshops, enrichment programs and academic symposia.
The final component of Cintas Center is the James E. Hoff Student Dining Hall. It includes the latest trends in student dining services, capable of handling 2,000 meals per day.
