I've noticed a strange tendency for threads to just take off in a direction completely unrelated to the thread title.
It happens all the time. It's the G Effect. (Not to be confused with any spots by the same name)

So, you've got the following options when you want to totally derail a thread, and take it to your favorite G spot:

1 - God

2 - Guns

3 - Gays

4 - Genetics

5 - Graham

Must be the offseason. Maybe I should run a poll to see which one is everybody's favorite.

Ashley (Kuehner) Scribner is a 2002 Xavier graduate. Her brother Aaron used to get in trouble with Brian. Ashley and her husband (Curtis – also a XU grad) recently published a children’s books called “Findlay: A Cincinnati Pig Tale.” It is now on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Findlay-A-Cinc...nnati+pig+tale and will hit bookshelves shortly.

The Scribners are having a book signing on June 6th at Dana’s. They will graciously donate a portion of every book sold that night to Brian’s Memorial Fund. This fund – thanks to support from the Xavier community – has kept over 70 XU kids in school.

Please stop by Dana’s on June sixth and support these wonderfully kind and creative Xavier graduates. In addition, you get to drink beer and help Pablo’s keep more Xavier students in school.

THANK you to Ashley, Curtis and BJ for their amazing generosity and kindness. These are the people – and the reasons – why Xavier is special and UD is not.

God Bless to you and yours. The McCormick Family

Hey, I've got a concealed carry permit, no problem. He is required to disclose this to police, but not to the rest of us.

Emotional state + concealed gun = recipe for disaster.

Will someone on the other side of the concealed carry issue explain to me the underlying policy reason for arming the citizenry? Why would we want to permit concealed carry at Belarmine or Cintas?

It seems to me just a legal cover for vigilante-ism.

Questions for Clevelanders / Attorneys RE: former recruit Tony Farmer

I was looking around scout.com for best available 2013 players and current (?) inmate Tony Farmer is listed as still available - clearly, he is not available.

Tony Farmer should be penalized for the brutal crime against his girlfriend, but I have some naive questions...

Does his sentence match the sentence of similar crimes? Are the charges against him justified? Did his attorney botch the defense? What are the thoughts of Cleveland area people and/or attorneys on the board (Woodburn - I'm talking about you)?

What does anyone in Cleveland know about Tony Farmer's attorney Joe Dubyak? A brief google search revealed that Dubyak, "once had his law license suspended for 18 months after a mail fraud conviction." And may be altogether quite inept at defending his clients.

The trial of James Vaughn from linked article above is titled, "Innocent Man Almost Spent Life In Prison For Rape Of Child He Did Not Commit." Bet you can't guess who his attorney was - here are some gems from the story:

"Both prosecutors and Vaughn’s original attorney, Dubyak, had subpoenaed Stout’s report before the first trial. But Stout had changed jobs by that time and never responded. Neither side followed up."... "Dubyak defended the decisions he made. He said he subpoenaed the social worker’s records because he wanted a full picture of the evidence against his client. But he admitted that he did not follow up on it. He said he was surprised when prosecutors didn’t call the social worker to testify. However, he said it did not occur to him that her testimony could have exonerated Vaughn."

It's great to see two Bundesliga teams preparing for a showdown at Wembley.

A nice dry run tomorrow when FC Bayern travels to Westphalia to battle Borussia Dortmund. It looks like Goetze is out for Dortmund while Bayern will sit Schweinsteiger, Robben, Lahm, and Ribery. Bayern has the Bundesliga title wrapped up and Dortmund has second all but taken care of and both have secured spots in next years champions league.

What's the interest level of the EPL fans on this board on Saturdays game? What are your thoughts on the final?

On May 25 I think Bayern wins, but Goetze scores against his future mates (while another potential Bayern transfer) Lewndowski may not.

So I guess I'll have to be the one to get this ball rolling seeing as to how we're already a couple days in and there's still no thread. The real Cup run starts tonight anyway!

Tuesday featured some exciting, yet very underwhelming hockey. I thought Chicago looked extremely flat and was fortunate to win, but they're good enough to get away with that once or twice in the first round. Then you have Jonathan Quick, who literally had one of the greatest postseasons of any goalie ever last year, shit his britches in the worst of ways to blow it in St. Louis. The Wings/Ducks game was pretty well-played though. Can't believe Selanne is still the stud he is.

Last night I didn't get the chance to catch as many games as I'd have liked to, but Pittsburgh and Boston obviously rolled against a pair of playoff newcomers. The Isles and Leafs clearly were not ready for the vast difference between regular season and playoff hockey, and I don't really expect either team to rebound. The Sharks/Canucks series should be fun, but it's all fool's gold. Both of those teams will find a way to choke in the second round, mark it.

Tonight we have the hottest team in the East versus those dirty bastards from the Big Apple, led by whining enthusiast and Douchebag Hall of Famer John Tortorella. He is in my top five of most hated coaches in all of sports, and his team needs to be beaten badly enough for him to lose his job, for the good of the game. So those of you who are undecided about who to root for, keep that in mind. It should be a hell of a series though, as always. These two teams have played more playoff series than any two teams since the 2004 lockout, and it's always a grind-it-out blood bath of a battle. I'm so nervous and excited and anxious and pumped. There's nothing like the Stanley Cup Playoffs
