Improvements coming still. I hope to have previous ranking included starting next week.

I really dont see Purdue staying in the top 10 all year. They are a very trendy pick with two very good freshman. not a good formula for success.

Georgetown seems to be getting alot of props early in the season for doing absolutley nothing this year, or last year. their new PG is solid, and summers is good, but teams like Louisville, UCONN, and ND will crush them. Georgetown also plays Memphis and Duke, like us.

"or last year" - They won the Big East last year.

They return 3 starters from that team and have added Greg Monroe, a top-10 recruit, who is averaging 17 and 8 this season.

I just think GU is a little overhyped and will be until their conference play starts. They obviously feel the same way with their cake walk out of conference schedule. Check out these these tough teams they face before Memphis:
Jacksonville
Drexel
Wichita St
American
Savanah St
Florida International

There W column will look nice, but if you read between the lines its all crap, until Big East play comes. which is when i think they will take a big dive.

I just want Xavier to be the best Jesuit school in the nation. however Gonzaga is a powerhouse this year.

By GU and BE standards, the non-con schedule is actuallly not bad this season.

They do play Memphis at home, Duke on the road, and are in the Old Spice tourney this weekend. They should play Tennessee, and either Gonzaga or Michigan St.

But outside of that, their schedule is pretty crappy. You'll have a good idea of how good they are after this weekend.

I don't have Georgetown or 'Nova in yet. I need to see them play and beat somebody of consequence. Marquette has a brand new coach who hasn't proven anything yet.

I'm not going to be suckered in by the usual Big East philosophy of playing nobodies in the non-con, going undefeated, then "beating up" on each other while ESPN raves about the "strength of the league."

Georgetown and Nova are loaded. The bad part is they are both fairly young. I wouldn't want to face either of these in the tourney. They may be overrated, but both are top 20, at least.

I have Xavier at 16 (and submitted before the AP Poll came out). Initially I thought I would put Xavier 20-22. But once I started comparing Xavier to other teams 16-25, I thought they would grit out a win over each one, stopping once I thought the offensive inconsistency would preclude Xavier from winning.

This week I am high on Oklahoma and their beast Blake Griffin. UConn has shown me something so I need to move them up next week. I feel smart not including Florida and Wisconsin who both lost Monday night.

Purdue came awfully close to winning the Big 10 last year with a team mostly freshman and sophomores (remember the Baby Boilers tag they had last year); Xavier didn't exactly have an easy time against Purdue in the NCAAs last year.

What's funny about polls, especially in the earlier part of the year is people talking about how they don't have teams ranked because they want to see more from them, and how they think a team will fall later in the year.

I just keep it simple. Week to week. The season will play itself out.

What part isn't a good formula for success - the trendy part or the two very good freshmen part? Xavier is a trendy pick and has two very good freshmen, I guess we're screwed.

Purdue also lost NOBODY from a very good team last year.

Sorry MOR, gotta disagree with you on Marquette - they return almost everything from a pretty solid squad last year.

I don't really know anything about Georgetown and 'Nova.

Here's my problem with polls; obviously, I'm giving you the opportunity to justify yourself. If you have Oklahoma at 10, Davidson's only loss is to them, and it was by 4 (?) at Okla, why do you not have them ranked? Wouldn't that imply that Okla is slightly better than Davidson?

Along similar lines, it doesn't make sense to me when, for example, the #15 team lost to the #5 team by 3 at #5's place, and then the #15 team drops.

Based on last night and this weekend, time for me to put Boheem and Syracuse in the Top 25.

That was impressive weekend.

No that doesnt mean we are screwed, we play in the A10, which is a cake walk compared to the Big 10. I dont see Xavier being a trendy pick. i see xavier as being an easy pick. we beat 3 big conference teams in 4 days. thats talent, not trendiness.

I just dont like Purdue. If you do, cool.

Random? I was under the impression that I was selected because I am President of Xavierhoops.com. Look under my moniker, it says President. I don't want to throw my considerable weight around but I demand some respect around here.

My picks are in. Film at 11.

Speaking of being a supporting member, I think Muskie should buy us a luxury box with all that cash we gave him.
