Did you see this fossil singing "America the Beautiful"? Ray Charles he ain't. Another thing...wait, I just saw the dude from "Visionquest" with Denise Brown. That is awesome.

I hope Barack does a Gladiator-like entrance a al Clinton. You gotta believe the Bloodworth-Thomasons don't have anything better to do.

David (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0748620/): Hey, Paula.
Paula (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0528331/): Yeah?
David (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0748620/): I gotta tell you something. I'm really excited about it. Uh, for the first time, today, I woke up, I came to the store, and I - I feel confident to say to you that if you don't take this Michael McDonald DVD - that you've been playing for two years straight - off, I'm going to kill everyone in the store and put a bullet in my brain!
Paula (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0528331/): David, what do you suggest we play?
David (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0748620/): I don't care. Anything! I would rather - I would rather watch "Beautician And The Beast". I would rather listen to Fran Drescher for eight hours than have to listen to Michael McDonald. Nothin' against him, but if I hear "Yah Mo B There" one more time, I'm going to "Yah Mo" burn this place to the ground.

I love "Yah Mo Be There"! That song won the man a grammy, so give the man his props. His time with the Doobie Brothers were the highlight years of that band.

I am also a big fan of "Keep Forgettin'".

I am torn by this thread because while I enjoy his beautiful voice, I also side with David on the DVD. That was one of the funnier parts of the movie.

I love this old SCTV skit with Michael McDonald singing "Ride Like the Wind"

That is disputable, they had Toulouse St. prior to McDonald. Of course nuts has "Music is the doctor" on his ipod.

Hell, I thought Kenny Rogers trademarked that look.

My mother went to High School with Michael McDonald. They went to the drive-in together when she was in high school.

I must have heard that story 90000000 times as a kid.

She may have left a little of the story...it was a drive-in movie after all

MHettel McDonald has a nice ring to it. Did you ever get a paternity test from your pa?

Yeah, that might explain the white Lions Mane that I am sporting.

Wasn't he in an early version of Steely Dan? I know he was somehow associated with them.

Backing Vocals

Becker and Fagen favor a distinctly soul-influenced style of backing vocal, which after the first few albums were almost always performed by a female chorus (although Michael McDonald (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_McDonald_(singer)) features prominently on several tracks, including the 1975 song "Black Friday" and the 1977 song "Peg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peg_(song))"). Venetta Fields (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venetta_Fields), Sherlie Matthews (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlie_Matthews) and Clydie King (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clydie_King) were the preferred trio for backing vocals on the group's late 70's albums.
