Definitely Trek. Picard stranded with some alien captain, whose form of speech was to communicate via the retelling of his people's ancient stories. Either: 1) you guys are watching that episode now, 2) your memories are better than mine, or 3) you making it up.

The Next Generation was really a pretty good incarnation of the Star Trek franchise. It was unfortunately so successful that it spawned several no-so-good variations.

The first season or so of TNG is so clumsy compared to the later seasons, it's kind of funny to watch.
