CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 20-10 overall and 12-7 in the BIG EAST Conference, host the Providence College Friars, 12-18 overall and 6-13 in the BIG EAST, on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cintas Center. Xavier is shooting for its seventh-straight win.

Xavier will honor seven student-athletes and six senior managers as part of Senior Day on Saturday. The player ceremony will start at approximately 3:30 p.m. Xavier will honor student-athletes Brad Colbert, Marcus Foster, Zach Freemantle, Jerome Hunter, Dante Maddox Jr., Dayvion McKnight and Bob Nunge.

This is the first Senior day that I can remember being excited about (in terms of sending players off) since JP and Tre. What both Zach and Free have gone through over the years and still giving it everything to the team, they both deserve a big send off. Freemantle is going to end up top 10 scorer in program history. Sometimes I find myself not appreciating his ability to score in the paint enough. I’ll miss it and it will be tough to see him go.

Anyways, let’s get the damn win.

Considering where this team was 60 days ago I’m very happy with where they are right now. They have taken everyone’s best shot and they still keep on winning. Free was just unstoppable today and just refused to lose. It seemed that every time X starts to get some momentum there was a time out, so it was hard for them to maintain that momentum. Despite that, and despite some out of this world 3-point shooting by Joesph, X still had enough to end up winning by a comfortable margin. That showed some maturity and some mental toughness. I’m excited to see exactly what they can accomplish in NY. I think the sky is the limit. There’s nobody there that X can’t beat.
