True, but I am always a little happier when at least one or some of the non-traditional powers get a shot at doing something big. Murray State - UK would have been epic since they, I think, have NEVER played each other. Which is wrong and needs rectified next year

Murray refuses to play a buy game at Corrupt Arena. They're holding out for a home and home they'll never get. I respect it!

Would love to see the Racers in the Elite 8 or beyond. First things first, though, of course. Gotta knock off St. Peter's!

Fort Worth update: I got an up close and personal view of Creighton last night and I really like Coach McDermott. He was very even keel most the game and made me place a +250 Moneyline wager at halftime! Kalkbrenner injury stings.

Kansas is physically impressive in person. I just love Agbaji, got to know him last night and he is special.

Oh one more thing- the balls they are using are Wilson’s newer Evo ball which is really crazy to feel. I took 2 shots and air balled them both and blame the ball lol

It is kind of a tacky grip that seems to shed moisture very easily. Most of the players like it but the shooting on display may suggest otherwise.

I know a guy that works at Wilson, he told me about the technology, it apparently evenly distributes the weight all over the ball, and exactly as he said, at first it's super weird to get used to but if you stick with it and practice with it you'll fall in love with it, because it makes putting up shots from basically anywhere effortless. It's the new Steph Curry ball basically lolol.

Also Loyola was awful today, and the games have been a borefest so far, hope things spice up in the afternoon.

Watching non-stop basketball yesterday after only watching X all year I realize just how God awful Travis was.

I'm in same position. Didn't watch many games other than X this year. Now that I have seen some of the tournament games, I'm struck how we looked nothing like any of the teams I've watched. Yet, we had veterans and we had talent. Not enough to win the B.E. but Jesus did we under-perform.

Now watching Illinois v Chattanooga--how hard the teams are playing, the motion offenses, battling defenses, big guys hitting the glass in both ends. Did not see anything like this from X teams under Steele. We had guys dribble one-on-one for most of the shot clock and then take some stupid-ass shot. Or, Hunter, Freemantle, or somebody else jack a three just seconds into the possession. God, Steele was bad!

I will not miss the "Steele Era" although I will try to forget it.

The fact that the Big East is mediocre in this Tournament- going 3 and 3 with bad losses by UConn, Marquette and Seton Hall- tells you how bad it was that Steele couldn't go .500 in the League this year.

That’s kind of been the big East’s mo since the new one was formed outside of nova. I just don’t think the coaches are all that great to be honest. Willard, Shaka, Cooley, McDermott (though he has seemed to turn a bit of a corner). To your point though, it does show just how bad Steele was.

I have been on a betting heater so far in the NCAA Tournament, a good tip is to find the rebounds props, and just hammer anything at plus odds considering how bad teams have been shooting, think I went 5/5 yesterday on it. I'm interested in seeing that Richmond vs Providence match up, is Providence's luck gonna finally run out? Other than that Tennessee vs Michigan should be good, and I always enjoy watching Murray State play.

Did anyone watch the last few minutes of the MSU/Davidson game. I don't remember seeing such an epic screw job since we played OSU. It appeared that the officials were members of Izzo's immediate family. Davidson was called for 8 fouls in the span of about 90 seconds. A horrendous charge call where the MSU guy jumped under the Davidson player while he was in the air going for a layup. It was just a brutal screw job.

Even after reviewing it they still got it wrong. As did Gene Steratore. They made no mention to the fact that the guy established position (and really never did) after the dribbler left his feet to pass. Ridiculous

Yeah, not the most organized tournament. Also, a very weak field, mostly .500 mid/low-major teams (in some cases less than). CBI has a much better field.

South Dakota State vs. Providence is screaming upset. I am afraid for the Friars that they are going to have a NCAA Tournament experience like Xavier in 1998.

Especially with Iowa looming in the next round, if you expect Providence to have a deep run, you're going to have a bad time.

Surprisingly solid showing by Providence against South Dakota State. You would think they are lucky to get a 12 seed (not formally red hot Iowa) in the second round, but Richmond is firing on all cylinders. I hope that the Friars have a really good time and save some face for the Big East.

Akinjo and another freshman, whose name I've forgotten, were charged with breaking and entering another student's room to steal stuff. Akinjo was not of great character. Ewing kicked him off the team. McClung stayed the next year but, I guess, saw the writing on the wall and left for Texas Tech.

Lolol so yesterday I took Zach Edey o8.5 rebs for (+105), Kevin Obanor o5.5 rebs for (+105), Wendell Moore Jr. o5.5 rebs for (+105), Jermaine Samuels o6.5 rebs for (+110), and Steven Crowl o4.5 rebs for (+110), every single bet hit; so far today, in the first game I took James Akinjo o3.5 rebs for (+105), and that also has cashed. So +odds on rebound props, the way to make money.

If anyone but me cares about the Women's Tournament: I was so disappointed in the empty seats in the lower bowl for the UConn/Mercer game, which was played on UConn's home court. Sure you've been to 13 straight Final Fours and this is a 2/15 matchup, but when you've got a wildly successful team, appreciate every moment of the ride. Cintas would be sold out for X in a 2/15 matchup that's for damn sure.

I apologize to Providence for doubting them. They reminded me of the 2018 Xavier team looking to be upset. Yes, they won the Big East, but with an asterisk and everyone knew that Villanova was actually the best team in the conference. They lived dangerously all season winning many close games, leaving you to wonder when their luck would run out. Apparently, not yet.

Those two time national title game participant frauds. I wish we were so fraudulent!

The fraud part was a little tongue in cheek, but I did find that stat interesting.

I do think that a lot of the time they are propped up seed wise due to their record in a conference that most years is garbage. Still have to win the games in the tourney, but getting a high seed sure does help most of the time. It was pretty clear to me that they did not have the guards this year.

Regardless, what I’m really getting sick of with them, is that they are some kind of media darling, basically supplanting duke and being called by numerous outlets “americas team.” Seth Davis basically filled up his diaper last night whining about holmgren’s foul calls.

This is entirely possible. But I hope Nova just boat races Houston.

On Gone-zaga- I am so glad that they're gone. Seems as if James Breeding was just gonna swallow his whistle every time Timme blatantly threw his chicken wing out there and hooked a guy on his was to the basket or Nembhard just blatantly pushed defenders away from him as he strolled to the basket.
I guess in some ways you can respect Few's training of his guys on how to flaunt rules to gain unfair advantage, but I'm sick of the Zags getting the benefit of the underdog, little school rep from the media and refs.

Screw 'em. Join a real league where you get beat up 15 times in a season then play in a tough conference tournament before you are granted high seed. As we've seen with Xavier, what you do in November/December to get your cutesy rep is overrated. Combine that with a gauntlet of a Power 6 Conference, then talk to me, Not looking good for 2 months then coasting through cupcakes.

Xavier used to be that in the A10. No more. We're part of the big boy club now and we have to earn it as it should be. Not like the cute Spokaners, propped up by ESPN because they need late night game programming between Gone-zaga and Garbage.

If they only won 2 games against top 4 seeds total in two tourney runs, they either won (only) two in one of those years, not horrible, which means they won 0 in the other - seriously questioning the legitimacy of that run - or on win in each, still not as impressive.

Another scenario is that they won against top 4 in another year which makes their finals even more questionable.

Either way, I would still take it.

Last year the best seeded team was a 5 in creighton; in 17 they beat wvu who was a 4. You still have to win the game in front of you and everyone who makes the tourney is a good team, but still I just think they are a bit unnecessarily propped up due to a conference they are in that’s garbage.

Can you imagine a player like Arkansas guard, JD Notae playing for X.
He was given the green light and shot 29 of the team's 72 fg attempts.

He only attempted 20 of Arkansas' 62 shots vs Tennessee in SEC tourney.

He is a definite scorer but he shoots so often!

Maybe Jordan Crawford shot a ton too while at X.

Fun fact for some of you fellas who may not know: Doug Ebert was Zack Freemantle’s teammate in high school at Bergen Catholic.

I got a chance to watch Ebert play with Zach. I remember being very impressed with his play. He had a really nice stroke, tremendous confidence, always played hard and had a will to win.

I thought for sure he’d get offers from one of the bigger D1 conferences. When I saw he went to Saint Peter’s, I was a bit surprised. I remember thinking,”If this is the kind of player Saint Peter’s is starting to land, they will be sneaky good in a few years.

That means so far, the League has earned $4,200,00 +/- annual value from the Tournament in shares which are paid out over 6 years.
My understanding for the BE split out is that the school that earns the share keeps 50% of it and the other 10 Big East schools split the remaining 50% or approx $2,100,000 or 210,000 each school. That means over the 6 year payout, a school like Xavier who had no participation this year will still get $1,260,000 over the 6 years from this year even if there are no more wins. Each additional win, except for the Final Game, is another $210,000 to X. Two more wins means another $420,000 to X.

So this year's Providence made it to the sweet 16. Do they get 50% of their earnings from NCAA AND the other BE teams in this field which is split up by 11 teams?

My sentiments exactly. They're no longer some kind of little darling.

A major conference team's fan perspective is justifiably different from those fans that fall outside of that group. You should have to earn it all the way through. Their cupcake schedule, which is about to get even more diluted with BYU's departure, doesn't cut it for me.

In fact, I've also changed my tune on the topic of Big East Conference expansion when it comes to the Zags. Notwithstanding the logistical issues, I'm not sure they represent a logical, long-term prospective addition anyway. A key assistant was lost to Arizona. Mark Few certainly still has gas in the tank and is still a very good coach. However, it just seems that Gonzaga is closer to falling off the ledge of relevancy faster than any other program making noise at this time. Spokane. The WCC. Their set-up doesn't scream SUSTAINABILITY to me. They may not fade away right away, but they're more likely to fade away - and hard at that - in the not too distant future. You don't bring a program like that with all the logistical hurdles into a property as valuable as the Big East.

Villanova, Creighton and Xavier all had a star player go down with a season ending injury in the tournaments. Terrible for guys that are planning to transition to the NBA. Now they have a season of rehab and then prove themselves again. How long will it be before NBA prospects start skipping end of season tournaments like they are doing in football to avoid risking injury?
