One of the great ones. I'm sure Drew thinks his death is hilarious, but I think it's very sad.

He was great from the very beginning. Actually played in a high school band with one of the Eagles and that guy knew he couldn't compete with Tom's cool.

No no no no......!

I'm with Smails.

This one stings.

'79 was never the same after Damn came out.

We played it in Husman until our ears bled.

Dang me.

Reuters is saying he's not dead. He's "clinging to life."

"I Need to Know" doesn't make most of his top 10 lists. I love his body of work. I think it is one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time.

Tom Petty has been one of my favorites for my entire life. When I think of good times I have had, so many of them are connected to his music. Hanging out with my brother listening to Full Moon Fever; hanging out with my roommate and his brother loving Wallflowers; watching my two year old son rock out to Mojo, which is such an amazing album if you haven't heard it. He is such an amazing talent. I am so sad. This day has really sucked.

Well, 66 seems a lot younger than it used to.... damn. Mel's crowd brought that music into my life. RIP.

On the assumption that he has, or will die, this one hurts as bad to me as Chris Cornell.

So much great music, but the lesser known Kings Highway is one of my favorites.

King's Highway is one my all-time favorites, MOR. So many great songs. I am hoping for the best for him and his family at this point. Agreed totally with the feelings about him and Cornell.

Tom Petty is my absolute 'go to' playlist when I have people over to my house for just about any occasion. Whether it's my parents and in-laws, my old HS friends, my wifes' friends, or my neighbors...you never have to worry about anyone complaining about TPHB.

Been listening to Tom Petty radio all day. The more I do, I realize:
"I'm out in the cold
Body and soul
There's nowhere to go"

Don't do me like that!

Was not a fan or follower until the first time I saw him live at Riverbend. So solid, devoid of bullshit concert transition chatter. And what a fan base, sang all the songs. After Full Moon Fever I went back and bought the catalogue.

Montgomery, his long time lead guitar, is a Cincinnati guy. How does he follow that gig?

RIP at The End of the Line.

Won't pretend like I knew all his songs or knew that much about him or followed him closely but I always liked his big hits and saw him at SB XLII for the halftime show and thought he was awesome.
