MidPoint Music Festival is September 25-27. I encourage everyone to go and experience some great live music.

This festival is about new music discovery. Great lineup of nationally emerging bands, most of whom you won't recognize the names. Anyone who follows MidPoint over the years knows that several bands who play here go on to become a pretty hot ticket.

- 120 bands playing over 3 days for $89.
- 10 stages in Over-the-Rhine and downtown (4 stages are all ages)

One-day festival passes are also available. Or just pay a cover to go to one stage for a day. So, if you just wanted to see one stage's lineup it can cost as little as $10 or as high as $25. It's a hell of a deal compared to what most national music festivals cost. You can see the price for each stage on the schedule on mpmf.com (http://mpmf.com).

A free kickoff concert happens 6 p.m. Friday September 25 in Washington Park with the band Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. (a.k.a. JR JR)

These might be considered the highlight bands:
Friday: Purity Ring, Heartless Bastards
Saturday: Ride, Sylvan Esso
Sunday: Iron & Wine, Tune-Yards

I'm personally excited to see several bands including Bully, Tristan, White Reaper, Ona, Varsity, and Left & Right. Styles go all over the map, but there seems to be more pop this year than others. And you can tell more bands are influenced by 90s grunge now.

If you've gone, you know it's a good time. If you've never gone, you really should try it at least for a day. The city gets a fun energy at this event.

There's also going to be a huge craft beer and craft arts section in Washington Park that doesn't require a ticket. Food truck and Etsy-like art vendors. Should be open during the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday.

They'll have Christian Moerlein, Braxton Brewing Company, Rhinegeist, MadTree Brewing, Taft's Ale House, West Sixth Brewing, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Kona Brewing Company, Goose Island, and Blue Point Brewery.

Some of you may remember the Saturday headliner, RIDE. They used to fill arenas in the 1990s. Playing here in Washington Park.

I think Sylvan Esso will be the most packed show. Playing Saturday at Christian Moerlein Brewery.

Sunday's lineup at Washington Park is pretty awesome with Iron & Wine headlining, but I really love the show put on by Pokey LaFarge.

Here's a local Cincy girl who's making some noise. Jane Decker will be at the Taft for MidPoint on Sunday.
