Never forget it. GA State's gym is on the upper floor of an activities building- borderline High School. There were about 400 people there, and I was literally the only Xavier fan there. It was Bob Staak's second year. Beating Georgia State was one of our 8 wins all year (8-20).

We went from being completely dismissed and ignored in our first game because BYU was sooo fun to watch and because they were so fun they were penciled in to the Sweet 16, to now being completely ignored this round because the sweethearts of the tourney are playing us.

Time to put our stamp on this tourney and sending Cinderella home and head to the Sweet 16!

I was at that game in Orlando. There was a now famous interaction with "Tuba Boy" from the Miss. State band who kept asking "who is you number zero, who is you?". Tuba Boy looked like Fat Albert with a tiny , toy instrument. I explained he was "the guy who just kicked your ass". My kids delight in the day dad went at it with Tuba Boy for an afternoon.

The 120 year old lady in the checkout line who barely topped 4' tall was the first one to talk some real smack. I liked her! That's what I get for living in 10 miles from Georgia State. Still no word on whether they are aware Georgia Tech has a team too.

I could look this up but I'm too lazy but it seems to me that Villanova under performs in the tourney (outside of the Final 4 year)? It just seems like they're always a 1-3 seed getting bounced in the 2nd or 3rd round.

When I was born, Xavier was 1-6 in their NCAA Tournament history (1989).

Between 1990 and 2003, X made some big strides and proved they could run with the big boys, going 7-9 in the tournament.

2004 - Present? 15-9.

It's amazing how far we've come. Now, we are one win away from .500! (23-24 overall) Let's go roll Arizona!!!!!!!!
