Which of our players had 8 fouls in the "secret" scrimmage last year? That was fun to discover.

Rollie Massimino is turning 80 next week and still coaching. Gotta love it.

Except we're not playing Rollie's Northwood (FL) team, we're playng Northwood (MI). Apparently, Northwood has two different campuses that play intercollegiate sports, one in Florida and one in Michigan. We're playing the Michigan team.

I ask this question all the time, but is there any good reason why if you want to schedule another div1 team, it has to be closed??
I know closed scrimmages are different. I've actually been to a few, and they've all been different. At one there were five twelve minute games. The other, there were three twenty minute games. The other, there were two games going on at once, and then situational stuff. Two others, it was an actual forty minute game followed by situational things.
I think you should be able to close it if you want to. But, you should also be able to open it to the public and sell tickets if you want to.
It used to be that div1 teams couldn't play other div1 teams, but they could at least find a decent opponent to play if they wanted to. Some schools played foreign teams that were actually really good. Athletes in Action had about five or six different teams, but their A team was actually really good. They had some really good former college and pro players. I believe one year AIA's top team beat three or four ranked teams, and two Elite Eight teams. Some teams played semi pro teams.
Now, if you want to actually play in front of people, the only teams you can scrimmage are shit teams from lower divisions. VCU played Florida and Stanford played San Diego State last Saturday....but no one was allowed to watch. There are some great match ups this Saturday too. I'd love to see Georgetown and Virginia play in a real game, but with the rules being what they are people aren't even allowed to watch the fake game they'll be playing each other in. Same with Gonzaga v Texas.

You can...
EDIT: I misread your original post. I know you can make the scrimmages open and sell tix, but I'm not sure if that's limited to non-d1 opponents or not.

It is. If it's a div1 vs div1 situation, you have to close it.
