Thanks to the standings at TopDrawerSoccer.com (http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer/college-conferences/conference-details/men/big-east/cfid-5) (the Conference chooses not to have the standings on their website for some reason).

So Now the scenarios:

Marquette defeats DePaul. Xavier defeats Butler. Marquette wins the Big East Title (Regular Season).

MarQuette loses to DePaul. Xavier defeats Butler. Xavier wins the Big East Title (Regular Season).

MarQuette draws DePaul. Xavier defeats Butler. Xavier wins the Big East Title (Regular Season).

When would X play Marquette again?

Hmm Marquette is 6-1-1 and DePaul is 0-7-1. That would be a pretty miraculous result for the Muskies.

Also, standings are here...

Agree it has an outside shot. But that's why they play the games.

The team only needs 1 point (a tie) to clinch the #2 seed (and a bye) in next week's Big East tournament. I'd be happy with that.

Marquette is pretty good, but to be fair Creighton (a really good team actually) lost to Villanova at home, so anything is possible, just looking at X to get a result at Butler, and gain a bye for the tournament. If they both make it, X would play Marquette in the Big East Final, but those games in the Big East tournament are going to be against incredible opposition, so it's going to be a battle each game. I think with a win at Butler, Xavier would be in to the NCAA tournament regardless of how they do in the Big East tournament, so it'll be nice to see how this all plays out in the next couple weeks!!

How many conferences get automatic bids for men's soccer? There are now 32 conferences but I know some (like the SEC) don't sponsor men's soccer. Only 48 teams make the tournament so I wouldn't know how much of a lock we'd be.

We'd be a lock. Currently 23 in the RPI.

23 conferences sponsor soccer and have it as a D1 sport, so 23 automatic bids, then everyone fights for the other 25 spots. But as said, we are 23rd in RPI, and finally receiving votes again for the rankings. I think we are practically in the tournament, like I said a result at Butler is huge though for the Big East bye, plus they do well enough we could very well have our first ever home NCAA Tournament game.

The SEC actually has some outstanding soccer players.
They just all are place kickers on the football teams.

Didn't realize that Marq-DePaul was a matinee; they play at 1 PM tonight.

In other words, Xavier will already know before the start of play tonight as to whether or not they have a shot at the regular season crown.

Yes. My guess is you will also be able to find a stream of said match as well.

Don't look now, but Depaul is up 2-1 in the 55th.

They still have to win tonight to secure the #1 seed; since Georgetown won today Xavier needs at least a tie tonight for a share of the regular season crown. A Xavier win nets a #1 seed; a Xavier tie would result in a 3-way tie with Marquette and Georgetown with MU getting the top seed and Xavier the #2 seed due to head-to-head.

Men fell 2-1 to Butler. Still a great season and a team that should qualify for the post-season.
