I have been told by my sources that it's just never going to happen as long as Title IX exists and is interpreted by the courts as it has been interpreted. It would require a MAJOR overhaul of the entire athletic department, and even if we had the money for that (we may now) we don't have the facilities for it.

coasterville95

Am I being too sensitive when the article on enquirer.com is a "see also" under a photo and banner of an article about UC playing in the NCAA?

And the second half of the article is the affect on UC?

And the renewed mention that the new league will pay $5 mil, but X, Butler and Creighton may only get half that.

(Maybe the other half is them picking up the tab on our A-10 Extortion, I mean Exit fee?)

Interesting. All I know (and I don't think any of this is confidential) is that the next 2 buildings we will see built with alumni dollars are (i) a new Student Rec Center (to replace O'Conner) and (ii) a new building for Montessori Ed program, which is slated for a HUGE push in connection with the collaboration with China (see here (http://www.xavier.edu/news/news/10008/1/no)). I also heard that once out of service, O'Conner would be converted to nicer offices and lock-rooms for the sports that play down there, and that Schmidt (and the Armory) would have to be torn down.

I'd be interested to hear if what you were hearing about those properties were actual discussions or suggestions from the prominent football supporters (who, to their credit, are often thinking quite creatively of a way to make it happen).

I hope Xavier never tries to bring back football. The club level alone is such a drain on the other club sports, who can't even get recompensed for gas money when traveling for in-state tournaments.

UD Pride starting to get nervous

Actually, from what I saw tonight, udump Pride is actually finally dealing with the reality of their second rate status.

This whole thing is finally making them realize the level of their suck-i-ness. They seem to finally get it that unless they stop with crappy non-conference scheduling and actually win something, no one wants them. While there are a couple of posters who shotgun spray blame on everything but themselves, most have now sunk into reality.

Why not ? Sorry but Soccer and Rugby do nothing for me, as an alum. If football, on a non schol level was brought back, I would attend some games. I tried to catch a club game every year, until they ran into problems the last two years. Marian U , here in Indy was pretty much a glorified high school. They added football, found a good coach, and their enrollment went up, awareness went up, and they are in the process of starting a med school. We have some new money.
Look I don't want to get off on this football tangent...tomorrow will be a great day and I am as thrilled as anyone. Can't wait to get a shot at some of the same teams I watched kick our ass in Schmidt,as a student. Next years home schedule and tv schedule will be a bball junkies dream. Go XU

I predict they will send out an email to season ticket holders about a special event on campus where they burn it in effigy. Only later to rue that decision when Xavier makes sure they don't get into the Big East.

Why not ?

Do you really need a list of all of the reasons why football at Xavier is a bad idea? Seriously? This site just changed host sites and to list all the reasons would only jam up the new server that is barely a week old.

This discussion has been had many times over on this and dozens of other message boards, and the bottom line is the prospect of football at Xavier makes no damn sense. If you need to have this conversation with someone, talk to a poster like nickgyp about how plausible football is. No one else on God's green Earth will ever agree it is a good idea for football to return to Victory Parkway.

From what I gathered from the other schools boards - the agenda appears to be that each school gets to offer opening remarks at 10:45, then they will cut to a video presentation from Fox at 11. (I think in Creightons case it said the President and AD left a DVD to be shown at 10:45 before the 11 presentation from Fox)

So, I'm, thinking the meat won't come until the 11 closed circuit show from Fox Sports to the 3 campus arenas.

The wild card now is how to handle classroom space due to Alter Hall.

The issue with tearing down Schmidt is that they have to figure out how to do it without having the street sink as well.
