Hopefully that shot doesn't haunt him for next year. We are going to need him. He drastically improved over the second half of the season and I think he'll have a good senior season.

What a tough break for Philmore. The shot is not as easy as everybody is claiming it was. I'm sure a lot of people would panic a little bit and rush the shot when there is only one or two seconds left. I look forward to an amazing season from Philmore next year.

Absolutely. I would have done the same.

I expect Philmore to go the Travis Taylor route and have a great senior season. Hell, Phil was better this year hthan Trav his junior year. By far. I think the starting five next year will be very strong.

Who are you thinking? Semaj, Dee, Myles, Philmore, Reynolds?

Sub Reynolds for Stainbrook. I have high expectations for him.

Honestly, I think Randolph will take Dee's spot as the starter by seasons end, but Dee will still be important to the success of the team.

I think we'll see a similar rotation to the one we saw this year, just replacing Taylor and Robinson with Stain and Reynolds. From the little bits I've seen of him, Reynolds has gotten big, I'm confident our front court won't fall off at all next year.

I think if tonight was any indication we need Dee on the floor in tandem with Semaj. Without Dee, Semaj had to do too much dribbling or just dump it to a big man. The ball flies when Semaj and Dee are on the floor together.

I'm more upset about the previous possession than the missed shot at the end. Too much dribbling.

Plus next year we have Myles who is a more athletic redford basically

It certainly appeared like a really easy missed shot.

But then when you think about, it's not exactly easy to make a shot hitting hard off the backboard from the complete opposite side of the court.

I'm thrilled with Philmore's improvement down the stretch of the year. He should be proud.

If he's eligible. Don't forget, we're good for at least one ineligibility every season.

Agreed. I also would have preferred Philmore go up strong, take the contact, and maybe get fouled, instead of going over under. That's a lot to ask for against Aiken, but just a thought.

Hindsight is 20/20, I'll take that last look with 1.4 left.

Philmore will learn from this.

He had enough time to take that ricochet and slam home a trip to the next round.

He played better as the season ended and I am optimistic about what he will contribute to next year's team. The guy has the heart of a lion.

Seriously. I would love to go a year without that happening.

It was a freak that he even had a chance to make the basket. Bottom line if X plays better they win.

For sure. Apparently Mack really likes Stainbrook's game. The problem I see with having Stainbrook and Philmore on the court at the same time is that neither one is much of a jumper, which could hurt us on the glass. Hopefully Reynolds progresses fast enough to give us 10-15 minutes and some rebounding. He's a Freshman though...

I'm glad to see no lunatics on here ripping Zeke apart for missing that shot. I was nervous about that. It's a bummer that he missed it but hopefully he uses it as motivation to work harder this summer.

On a side note, that would be a pretty ingenious inbounds play in a situation like that. It would be tough to pull off, but with less than 2 seconds really any shot is near impossible.

I'm not ready to count out Farr yet either. I think he will end up being a good player for X and will give us some really good minutes next year.

Just watched the game. I am totally hurting for Philmore. That poor kid. That just sucks.

I HATE dayton.

I don't think he has the ceiling of Travis but I expect him to improve a lot from this season. But X also won't need him to be as good as Travis with Stainbrook most likely being the focal point of the front court.

I agree on the Stainbrook part. I'm not sure Dee will lose his spot, unless Randolph is a lock down defender. Mack loves the way that Dee plays. I believe he is doing everything the coach wants him to do.

Totally agree with this. It was an absolute fluke that he got that ball in the position he did and I feel really bad for him. He's going to have nightmares about that one for a while, I think. Hopefully he can get past it OK.

I could see Randolph eventually taking a starting spot and having Dee provide a spark off the bench. I think Dee is a perfect bench player, a guy you bring in for defensive energy and whatnot. One thing he needs to develop is a floater. He had WAY too many shots blocked this year trying to get to the rim. He needs to know his athletic/size restrictions and figure out better ways to attack a defense. With a floater, it would have to keep the defense honest, unlike this year where pretty much everyone could just wait for him to get within 5 feet and swat him.

Kind of like 20 second mark:

I just like the idea of having enough players next season to even talk about competition for roles next season.

Another thing to think about with Dee is durability. He missed a decent chunk of time this season to various injuries. Playing less minutes might to beneficial to all involved.

Also, the I think the thing we need most for next season (if I've said it once I've said it a million times) is for Justin Martin to have a great summer and come back better and more ready. It's the position with the biggest question mark and he has the potential to be so much better. Please work your ass off Martin. You aren't a 35 year old underclassman anymore.

Who are you thinking? Semaj, Dee, Myles, Philmore, Reynolds?

Unfortunately, if Dee Davis is anything more than a 10-15 minute per game backup we will not be a very good team. He is too small and is not explosive/quick enough to play at this level as a starter.

Semaj, Martin, Philmore should be locks to start. We need a 2-guard and Front-Line person to step into the starting line-up.

We also need some who's a true threat from behind the arc. Don't know if we'll ever see anyone as consistent as Brad.

Absolutely true, I would hope Semaj and Martin would extend their range to become consistent 3-point threats. I would like Philmore to become a consistent 15-18 foot jump shooter. Then, get a newby to be a 2-guard with some range and a banger down low (?? Stainbrook ??)

Maybe Farr can come in and be a stretch 4/5 as well.

Dee Davis can take Redford's place as a backup point and 3-point specialist off the bench, but with better defense and ball handling.

We have the tools to be improved next year, but have little room for error in terms of suspensions/transfers/non-qualifiers/etc.

This was probably the roughest off-season I can ever recall as an X-fan.

Anyone who can consistently make a 15 foot jumper will be a star. It's rare to see that shot today. Scoring is usually a 3, a dribble drive, or a big with his back to the basket scoring from down low.

As is usual in games such as this, it never should have come down to the last play. If it takes a buzzer beater to take out St. Joe's - we got much bigger issues that one guy missing a gimme.

It's not like there was a great chance their performance would get any better playing four games in four days, shorthanded.

Next year will be better just from a sheer numbers standpoint.
