Maybe I'm late to this party, but I haven't seen much about him. ESPN has his final four as
NC State, Tennessee, Xavier, and Georgia Tech.

It's more likely that ESPN is wrong.

Total possibilty. Rivals has it, too. X isn't on the Rivals list, but is reported in an article.

He's on X's list too; it wasn't an error. He's more of a scoring combo guard than a true point guard, which they're not really in need of in 2013 unless the guy's an absolute stud. The staff will be keeping an eye on him.

He is being recruited by Xavier. Like 09 said, they would take him if they feel he's too good to pass on, but a 6'0 guard is definitely not our biggest need from that class. He goes to the same high school Dez went to and is a quick, talented scorer who could probably play either guard position in college.

Rivals says 6', 165. ESPN says 6'2" 175. Maybe he's growing.

I heard he was growing too. I'd be surprised if he was 6'2 as they usually list them higher but either way, I'd think for us to take a true guard in the 2013 class, he'd have to be too good to pass up. Maybe he is.

One thing Xavier would like is a "get buckets" type of guard if they can. DSR and Torian Graham are that type in 2012. We know what happened with DSR, and Graham looks really shaky to qualify as a 2012 guy. Without checking to confirm, I'm pretty sure Davon Reed in 2013 is that type and I know Chris Thomas is. If Newkirk really improves into that type of player, he could be an alternative to one of them.
