Jason Kokrak is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week in La Quinta, CA. Maybe he'll be paired with Greg Norman or Phil Mickelson at some point this weekend.

It will also be interesting to see what amateur Jason gets paired up with for the first and second rounds.

Kokrak is a "sleeper" pick this week by the PGATour.com fantasy golf writer.

"Jason Kokrak Many are making comparisons to Gary Woodland, which makes sense since Kokrak also thrashes it off the tee, but I "see" more Phil Blackmar and Michael Putnam. Time will tell where the PGA TOUR rookie leans if he doesn't carve out his own niche, but he matches up considerably well this week. First, all three of last year's playoff participants -- Woodland, Bill Haas and eventual champ Jhonattan Vegas -- are bombers like Kokrak. Additionally, Kokrak ranked second in birdie average on the Nationwide Tour in 2011. If you pay any attention to the developmental circuit, you know that you absolutely must make birdies to survive. The same requirement exists this week."

Just looked up the pairings for the HC.

Day 1: http://humanachallenge.com/12pairings1.php
Day 2: http://humanachallenge.com/12pairings2.php
Day 3: http://humanachallenge.com/12pairings3.php

No big deal. Jason is paired up with Dr. J on day 2.

I've never heard of any of the other amateurs he's paired with. They must just be guys who bought their way in.

Dr J went to UMass so that pairing might not work too well; truthfully this event is rough for pro not comfortable playing w/hack amateurs for 3 rounds--tough to concentrate, play is usually even slower, ams/celebs get in the way, etc.

Jason hasn't made a par yet after three holes today, but he's sitting at -1.

-2 through 15. Tied for 62nd. Looks like this course is playing a little easier than Hawaii.

Nice eagle at 18 to cap the day. He finished at -4 and is currently tied for 27th five strokes off the lead.

There are a few Cincinnati guys playing as am matures too, including a guy who is playing with both Anthony Kim and the leader Villegas.

Humana has a big presence in Cincinnati, and some decent golfers in the health insurance world are lucky enough to get to play.

Kokrac is paired with Doc. J....All A10!

Note that the cut in this event does not happen until after the third round. Kokrak is underway in round 2 now.

-3 today through 8. That is good for T27 with his -7 total. He has 1 eagle, 1 birdie, and 6 pars so far today at La Quinta.

Yup, Jason is out there zipping up Greg Norman and Phil Mickelson, among a bunch of others. Hopefully Dr. J is enjoying the show.

-5 today through 12. -9 total. T23. He has a back-to-back Par 5's coming up. If he can get to -11 or better, he will be in great shape going into "moving day".

-10 and tied for 21st in the second round?!? What kind of courses are they playing out there?

It's out near Palm Springs, CA - I'm guessing it's a lot flatter there than the course in Hawaii they played last week.

Ryan Moore shot even par yesterday, was 2 over after 3 holes today....and ended up 11 under par.

Jason is -11 with one to play and tied for 14th 5 shots back. Another round like this tomorow and he'll be right in the hunt.

They play 2 rounds at PGA West one is the Nicklaus course and another is the Palmer course, and the third course is La Quinta which is probably the easiest of the three. Generally, b/c the amateurs none of the courses are set up very difficultly. Greens medium speed, no rough, pins placed accessibly etc. Not sure which course for Sunday but I think it is the Nicklaus course at PGA West.

Actually all three courses are relatively hilly and LaQuinta especially includes elevation changes.

After 36, Jason is T4 in GIR so he is either not hitting it close enough or not dropping the putts when he gets good looks. At (-10) his position is solid but he will need 10 more to keep pace and not get passed. Winner will shoot at least 24 under.

Total disaster for Jason today. 6 over through 9. In severe danger of missing the cut.

Got all the way up to 8 over for the round before a couple of birdies got him to 6 over for the round and -4 overall...and 2 shots over the cut line. It's got to hurt to go from 10 under after two rounds to missing the cut, but let's hope there are no lingering effects from this round confidence-wise that cost him strokes and $$$ in future tournaments.

Going +5 over a four hole stretch on the front 9 and then +3 over three straight holes on the back did him in. Wonder if he's in next week's event at Torrey Pines?

The third round was put on hold yesterday due to high winds. I wonder how much that hurt Jason and caused him to go +6 while he was out there yesterday.

Probably some, but another guy almost shot 59 in the same conditions.

Would have loved to see Jason hit one drive with that wind at his back. He could've probably driven a par 5.

He's listed as in the field for the Famers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines next week. We'll see what happens.
