Sgt. Joe Friday
Col. Sherman T Potter
Those were just a couple of his notable roles - not too many actors make it to 96.

I'm sure every day he thanked whoever it is that played Henry Blake for his terrible career move. Shelly Long leaving cheers (and opening the door for Wichita's own Kirstie Alley) is about the only one I can think of that was worse.

I lived on MASH as a child. That was some great stuff.

Jack Webb was Sgt. Joe Friday. Harry Morgan was Office Bill Gannon. I probably never missed an episode when I was a lad. Of course, we only had 4 channels, so there weren't a whole lot of choices.
Harry and Don Knots did a speaking engagement together at a conference in San Diego one time. Don said, "I wasn't a real cop like Officer Gannon. Andy only let me have one bullet." Harry came back and said, "At least you had a gun. Did you know that they never even gave me a gun? Seriously. A cop show from Los Angeles, and we never had a shoot out. It wasn't exactly Dirty Harry. They wanted Jack to say, 'I carry a gun.', but he changed it to 'I carry a badge.' We resolved most issues with a good lecture."

Mule Muffins, Horse Hockey, Buffalo Bagels. All great Potter-isms. RIP Harry.

I remember him for a bit in Run Silent Run Deep, and for the town Mayor in the comic western Support Your Local Sheriff.. Susanne Pleschette was his daughter and having tipped a few too many with James Garner at Indy, I learned some wonders about her and Harry. Morgan had numerous roles as a GI or Swab when he was young, but M*A*S*H was his crown. RIP Harry/Sherm:(

I wonder if he had Sofie stuffed.
Everytime I think of Dragnet I think of the Kevin Spacey role in "L.A. Confidential."
