I'm watching this game tonight, and I really can't figure out the officiating tonight at all. There have been a number of head scratchers, but they just flagged the Giants for hitting a "defenseless" receiver who had two hands on the ball at the time of the shoulder-to-shoulder hit.
NFL officiating is starting to take away from the game.

One of the worst calls I have ever seen.
I don't know what else you coach your player to do. That hit was text book, on time, lead with the shoulder, hit the guy in the ribs, I can't think of a single thing he should have done differently.
Sure it was violent, but that was about as perfect of a hit as you can get.

Thank God I have Xavier because that Giants game was awful. Eli Manning cant do it on his own. The defense was terrible tonight. Dreading what the Packers are going to do to them next week.

There was also a Giants fumble in the game that was upheld on review even though it was pretty clear that the ball was still in the runner's hand as he hit the ground. That was followed quickly by a New Orleans touchdown where it sure looked like the ball was coming out of the runner's hand before he crossed the goal line.
If you're going to have High Def replays, you might need to revisit the whole review process and go to something more like college. You should also be able to review penalties like the bulls**t defenseless receiver call.
Edit: I should rephrase this. I thought that neither play was a fumble. What I meant was that they appeared to both be very similar in that the ball in motion, but had not lost continued contact with the runner's hand in either case. Both calls went in favor of New Orleans.

KK, every TD is reviewed automatically in the NFL. There is no need for a team to challenge. They didn't show many views of the guy crossing the plane with the ball, but it obviously was good enough for the replay booth.

I think the home team has influence over the video replays, and I don't believe the officials in the booth have access to anything other than what is being shown on the screen. There was some excessive home cooking in the game last night.

Like I said, I don't think it was a fumble. What is a fact is by the time he lands, the ball is entirely out of his hand. The question in both cases is when does the actual moment of "fumble" occur.
