The gold pants are just for beating Michigan. How much money the players make off of the pants are anyone's guess.

Right now, I don't see Michigan losing to them this year.

I will say this about OSU this year: They actually looked pretty good against Nebraska with Braxton Miller in the game. After he went out and they were stuck with Bauserman things got ugly. With their defense and an improved Braxton Miller I could definitely see them beating Michigan. Michigan is a pleasant surprise this year but we aren't there yet. The defense still has some significant holes and Denard throws too many picks.

The thing about the OSU-Michigan game this year is that you have no idea what OSU players are going to be eligible to play by that point in the season. At the rate that they keep finding out new information about no-show jobs and improper benefits OSU may have to forfeit because they may not have enough eligible players to field a team.

I remember when before they exposed Tressel for the fraud that he is, everybody talked about Tressel's recruiting being the key to OSU's success, and how he "locked down the state of Ohio". I guess now we know how he did it.

To keep it on topic regarding UC vs. WVU, both schools, and their current and former coaches, suck.

Any Xavier fan you uses the word "we" when referring to anything UC deserves a kick in the nuts. There is a clear line in the sand, for Xavier or for sUCks.

Those who root for sUCks football and claim to be X fan deserves a one season ban from Cintas Center.

Last time I checked, SucKS is a mortal rival. That means that any true fan must cheer that their mortal rival fails epically in everthing they do.

Think that Villanova fans cheer for Temple football? Uh no.

Success in anything by your rival raises their profile and helps their cause. The Borecats need to lose....horribly.....at everything.

No props.

At the rate Ohio St is going, they'll probably have to forfeit the game whether it's played or not. Who knows what we'll actually find out this winter about those players that actually get to play.

Not "bigger Xavier fan".

Just that those who subject themselves to the sham of Borecats Football, (remember those epic BCS Bowl games?) have significant mental defects and must seek professional help. :D

Oh, and we all see how SucKS football is being courted by the big BCS Conferences to relocate....

I'd rather watch a good high school game- and there's plenty of that in Cincy.

professional help? Maybe we can get together at halftime on Saturday and work through our issues over some ice cold beer.

What's wrong with spending a Saturday afternoon watching live college football while downing some beer? Watch the Big East crumble around you at no extra charge.

Actually, it has nothing to do with being a bigger fan. I just really don't want to see any of their teams do well. I attended and graduated from Xavier. Why would I care about their football program? It makes perfect sense to most of us on this board. I am not advancing any argument. I am reminded by the mantra at Dana's, high above the ceiling, it reads "UC Sucks!" I concur.:logo:

Your implication was that in your eyes, I am not a true fan. If that's not telling me you're a bigger fan than I am, I don't know what is.

My take:

1) Grown men without kids on the team who attend high school football on a regular basis creep me out. It is an event for high schoolers.
2) As a resident of Cincinnati, success of UC's programs, both academic and sporting benefit me. Clifton is a critical part of the ongoing development in Cincinnati. As long as the success doesn't come at the expense of Xavier, I'm all for it. Rooting against all things Clifton would be a bad move for me.
3) Any dig on UC for conference affiliation in football is as much or more applicible to Xavier in basketball. I prefer not to throw stones in my house.
4) There isn't anyone I hate in college sports more than Mick Cronin.

Is it creepy for me to take my four year-old son to high school football games? He says he loves football and wants to go to games, and I am working to cultivate that interest (read: find a good reason to tell the wife that I am being a good dad by sitting on the couch and watching football for hours on Saturdays and Sundays!).

Give me a frickin break. Just because you went to a POS high school doesn't mean you have to call people "creepy" who go to high school games.

More people in this city go to high school games then sUCks could ever get at a football game. That is just ridiculous.

Single guys who go to Little League games are creepy. Single guys with no connection to a particular high school or community are probably going because they're got money riding on the games. I don't have a problem with parents taking kids to high school games, especially when said kids will probably wind up going to that school down the road.

Just a datapoint - the big move to PBS for this week's game - and their stretch goal for attendnace, according to the Enquirer is 40,000, that's just 5k more than Nippert, and what do they get in exchange? A rent check from Mike Brown, and the ESPN cameras showing a 2/3 (if that) full PBS rather than a packed Nippert. In fact, the big difference is this might let more Louisville fans into the building.

College "kids" >18 = Adults
High School kids <18 = Minors

It's not just an arbitrary definition, it's a legal one. If you can genuinely say that you don't see a material difference in both the crowd attending a high school game and the quality of the football played, then you are either not paying attention, or you are lying to yourself to justify your own creepiness.

I go to one high school football game every 5 years during my reunion. Every time I do, I am reminded of the creepy words of David Wooderson:
That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.

By the way, my "POS" high school has 2 rings in the last 6 years and 5 out of the last 7 GCL all sports trophies, what about yours?

I'm with ya. And people are a little "too" into it here as well. I think that happens in places where there's not much else going on. The game I took the son to was 42-0 early in the third quarter, and our local high school's best showing came from its kickass marching band playing Bon Jovi at halftime. But Johnny enjoyed the popcorn.

I generally dislike anything that has to do with UC.

Primarliy b/c I've grown tired of their fans force feeding all the BE bullshit for so many years.

Will I go to an occasional football game ? Yes, on a free ticket if I have absolutely nothing else to do and hope like hell they lose 86-0.

I know I should be a little more mature about the whole situation, but I just can't get myself to root for anything red and black.

If they are both going to continue to have auto-bids then the Big East should play the ACC every year in their bowl game. That way you don't ruin 2 bowl games, just one.

I don't think that their is anything wrong with the Big East, or with being a Big East football fan, but they have not proven themselves to be competitive on a BCS Bowl Game level, IMHO.
