See you later, Chad. Your production was outweighed by your constant talking. I believe he will tear it up in New England but will wear out his welcome just like Moss did.

Ocho will tear it up in NE, and the Pats will get him out of there before he does any real damage when the worm turns.

So Mike Brown will trade away Chad who WOULD have played the last year of his contract here, however unhappy, petulant, or unproductive he may have been, but will not trade Carson who WON'T play a snap for the remainder of his contract/career.
Am I missing something here?
But the real question is whether Haynesworthless will cut it NE. Piece of shit probably hasn't even discovered that they do a lot of 3-4 too. I've never, EVER rooted for anyone to tear an ACL... until now.

I for one will miss Chad. Say what you want about him, but he loved interacting with the fans and he worked his butt off. Maybe some of his antics were annoying at times, but I wish him great success and I'm glad he gets to play for a winning team.

I second this! Chad was a lot of things, but he was not the cause of all the problems on that team by a long shot. People like to blame him because he was more visible than others so that made him a target. The Bengals suck! I'm so done. I may become a Steelers fan or Titans fan or a fan of any other team around the league. The best thing that will ever happen to the Bengals will be Mike Brown's passing.

Plus the Bengals fail to resign J. Joseph. They will eventually have to spend money to get to the cap floor. What the hell are they gonna spend it on? They are going to overpay a bunch of mediocre/crappy players.
God, the Bengals suck. Even though it is too late for me, there is no way am I going to let my kids be Bengals fans.

Chad was one of the most overrated wr's in the league. If it were not for his mouth you wouldn't know who he is. He still runs the wrong routes, is too dumb to read the defense, cuts routes off short and drops passes across the middle. See ya bye. As for the trade Mike brown is a piece of shit but if you keep your mouth shut he will trade you, if you demand a trade he will not do it. He traded Boomer when he went to Mike and asked for a trade but kept it out of the media and he just did the same with Ocho. When stinko demanded a trade in the media Mike Brown wouldn't do it. If Carson would have just never let his agent leak his demand he may have been traded eventually as well.

The over/under on wins out of Vegas is 7.5. I think the Bengals are going to take the money and put it all on the under and break Vegas. There is no way in hell this bunch will win 8 games.

7.5? You have got to be kidding me. As soon as I saw this I went my two different internet wagering sites and neither of them had NFL team futures up yet. I'd take under 5.5 without hesitation and would have to think for a while about taking under 4.5.
I'd bet my left nut on under 7.5....;)

If the wager is Nigel's left nut, I will see his left nut, raise the bet by throwing in the right nut, and also adding $500.
Please PM me if there are any takers.....
Thanks in advance.

Here are the odds for each team. The Bengals are actually -120 to go over the 7.5. In twitter speak smfh.

Oh, man...now I'm getting gambling mind f'd. Did you see the comments from that article. It appears there are a lot of people willing to bet their left nut, right nut and even more than $500 on the under...if that line doesn't do a nose dive immediately, then something stinks.
What would be the rationale of the Bengals winning 8 games? The rest of the good teams are behind schedule and it might be ugly football for the first half of the season and this Bengals team can luck into some early unpredictable wins? I mean, honestly....look at their schedule and try to justify 8 wins without laughing at yourself.

What's with all this "betting of the left nut," "cutting off somebody else's left nut" and " The right nut, too"? Has this board gone completely...? Naw, that's too easy, besides Nuts4Xu might be hurt.
But seriously folks, I hope Chad has even more success than Moss did at first. At least he'll have a future Hall of Fame owner and a future Hall of Fame coach to work for, something he'll never see in Cincinnati. BTW. When do the Bengals next play the Pats and the Texans??? HMMMMMM!!!!

Ummmm.... yeah. Ten years in the league averaving 75 catches/year and over 1,000 yds./year would disagree with your sentiment about Chad. And those averages include a first year in which he only caught 28 passes for 328 yds. and one year in which his shoulder was so torn up that he couldn't even raise his arm above his head most weeks, yet still put on his pads and got the crap kicked out of him on a weekly basis when just about any other player in the league would have hung 'em up for the season.
Chad might have had a few questionable moments with the Bengals, but he was nothing less than the best receiver that ever put on stripes. To say he is too dumb to read a defense or run routes is laughable. Chad will be missed greatly here in Cincy, whether you want to admit it or not.

I'm with MC. In 2006 I was waiting in line on the Plaza Level at PBS with probably 300 other people to get some of the two game packs that were going on sale that day. The line was insanely slow. The team was practicing that day, and practice ended while we were still waiting. Out of the entire team, coaching staff and management, only Chad Johnson came out to greet the fans. He walked the entire line and shook everyones hand. Stopped to talk to anyone that had questions or anything. He was easily out there for over an hour.
Looking back, with all that hope for the future, that was probably the last day I was legitimately excited about the Bengals.

The Bengals had their chance 3 years ago to trade Chad to the Redskins for a #1 draft pick that coming year and a conditional #1 the following year. The "deal of the Century" in my opinion. It was a a crazy offer by the Redskins, but they have a misfit for an owner, Daniel Snyder, and he was desperate for a stud wide receiver.
Of course, the moron GM for our beloved Bengals, Mike Brown, turned the deal down.
Now, after 3 mediocre seasons of production, Chad is only worth a couple of "late round picks". Go figure.
One more possibility is Carson Palmer might still be here if Chad had been dealt. It's no secret that Carson could not stand all the drama and bitching he had to endure with #85.
#85 is a BIG reason why Carson wanted out of Cinci.
Way to manage your team , Mikey boy!!!!

I wish Chad nothing but the best. Now he has a legitimate qb throwing him the football. I hope he keeps his mouth shut and plays football. I want a ring for him.
New England will definitely have that chance this year as they've had for the last decade.
Chad was one of the most friendly big time athletes I've ever seen. I will miss him....but I'm happy for him. GO PATS!!!!

Yes you are missing something, Chad's contract was much easier to trade as he was only due $6 million for this year (and this year only). Palmer's contract makes him about as un-tradable as they get. The Bengals will have to pay the guaranteed money no matter what Palmer does this season, and the contract doesn't expire for years.
Palmer asked to be traded or he will retire.....he never asked to be released. No one wants to take on his rag arm and $50 million in payroll, so let the bitch retire.

Ok, that actually does make more sense now. I wasn't aware of all the guaranteed money the Bengals are on the hook on regardless of whether he's traded.

Man, JJ got a shitload of guaranteed money. They should have locked him up last year before he was being shopped around. Hope they get Cromartie.
Also, all of the above is pilfered from other experts. Like a Snipe political post.

Chad's contract was reworked before he was traded to the Patriots. It's now a 3-year deal instead of one. And BTW, he was cheered by the fans at practice yesterday (Friday). Of course we all know he'll fail miserably. Face it, we....aw furgetaboudit!

I used to really like Chad Johnson. But now that his skills have diminished, his act has grown old and tired very quickly.
I can't see a reason why a team would sign 85. Miami was his home town, and he couldn't make it work. It may be the final chapter in his career.

They pretty much had to cut him. I believe that the conditions of them signing him was that he was to be on his absolute best behavior.
He is an aging WR known for his inability to understand the playbook and run good routes. In the past he got by on speed. Now that he is older he can't just run by people. I don't see him catching on anywhere else. Somebody may sign him, but probably for league minimum.

Night light might be giving him some credit. The guy has been an idiot in the past, continues to be an idiot and will most likely be an idiot in future.
I hope no one signs him, that he inturn, can't pay all of his child support, and then he ends up in jail. The guy is not so charming anymore.

I had this discussion with someone a few days ago. He tries way too hard to be funny/edgy/unique. He's a helluva athlete, but just dicks around too much for anyone to take him seriously. It's like he never left the college mindset and just wants to clown around for millions of dollars and lots of public scrutiny. Charming, but not when you're a great athlete. I hate seeing talent wasted because of immaturity, regardless of the outlet.
As for the jail part, that's a bit harsh. He's an asshat, but as far as I know he only deserved it for the domestic charges we know of. Let's be real here.

To me, he's Gilbert Arenas. Very likable when he's on your team and things are going well because he's got a lot of talent, but he clowns around way too much for his age, is a knucklehead and just doesn't seem to really get it. Both men unfortunately had promising careers ruined by their immaturity, although at least Johnson's happened clearly after his prime.

When he was producing, I enjoyed the act. I got bored with it pretty quick when the numbers fell off.
In a time where players were getting arrested or in trouble or fights or out late drinking, Chad never once got caught up in any of that. He was a freakishly talented receiver who never learned how to improve his game by working hard. If he had Jerry Rice's discipline, he might have been the best WR to ever play the game, but he didn't.
I am sorry for him that his career will likely end this way. Two bad decisions (1. buying a box of rubbers and keeping the receipt and 2. standing close enough to your wife in a fight to make physical contact) in a relatively short time could stain an otherwise productive career.

Not saying he's a HOF player, but even including his last 2 bad years, he's averaging over 1,000 yards and 6 TDs per year for his career. That's not too shabby.
And Jerry Rice was talented but he put in an insane amount of time training and learning playbooks/routes/defenses/etc throughout his career. He had one of the most ridiculous work ethics ever and is the first to say that he wasn't all that talented (sure he's way more talented than most people), that it was all hard work. I think if any of the more talented WRs in the league trained as hard as Jerry Rice (and had the good fortune of great QBs and teammates around him to help get to Super Bowls), they could potentially be considered one of the best in the game.
Great comparison. So true. Gah, and I wanted to like Arenas, I really did. By all accounts I ever read of him, he seemed like a cool dude.

I guess my hang up is that I can't get over that inability to grow up because it's now boiled down to wasted talent off of what could've been pure greatness. I want those people who are nice to do well in life, but only if they can act like adults about it.

Um... no. It's not. It is a nod to the hardest working WR (possibly player) to ever play the game. Young Chad Johnson was one of the most naturally talented players I've ever seen. What he was able to accomplish in spite of his lack of work ethic is fairly impressive. If he put the kind of effort into his game that Jerry Rice did, it would have been something to see.
Also, if you're going to quote me, please don't edit my words. What I said was :
If he had Jerry Rice's discipline, he might have been the best WR to ever play the game, but he didn't.
Cutting out "but he didn't", then attributing that quote as a complete thought to me is simply deceitful.

Yes, I get the legal ramifications of not paying one's child support, but your initial comment came off as wanting him to go to jail since he couldn't get signed. That's what I was saying sounded harsh.

Quite honestly, I'd bet that this whole domestic violence incident was a stunt for his reality show that went very wrong. I would bet that they (Chad and his wife) created this situation that would create an intense argument, and that created this.
Now I don't know that this happened, and if he truly did to her what she says he did, then he is a scumbag. But, this incident just doesn't match with what I understand to be Chad's personality. He's immature, yes, but I don't think he's every shown the inclination to headbutt a woman.
I just think that fact that he made a comment in a previous show that if he every would cheat, he's use a condom, and the fact that his wife just happened to find a receipt for condoms in the car, and the fact that he said on Hard Knocks that he was going to get arrested this weekend. It's just all too coincidental, if you ask me.
Again, I may be completely wrong, and Chad may truly be this scumbag that hit his wife, but I'm just a little skeptical.

Some owner will wait until his team which has lost one or more of its best receivers will prevail on Roger G. to chastise Chad verbally and then the owner will sign him cheap (for today's market) and Chad will be a good boy . Or if he does do some time, he'll star in the next version of the Longest Yard and pick up some nice change. Somehow, Chad doesn't fit the violent type, but for those who hate him, revel baby.:confused::cool:
