Rory McIlroy is tearing it up. -6 thru 14.

I like Graeme McDowell in this thing though.

Little disappointed in Dustin Johnson today. I really expected him to have a strong showing this week. Still plenty of time. Rory was outstanding today though.

I expected McIlroy to win a major this year. It looks like it could be the Masters, although there is still a lot of golf left to play. McIlroy is good.

Dustin Johnson at 9 strokes back from the leader is a bit surprising, although he can be very inconsistent. I would not be the least bit shocked to see Johnson win a major either. He definitely has an uphill battle in this one though.

Tiger has some work to do. 6 back after day one.

O, and is anyone else playing this afternoon other than Phil? Not according to ESPN.
He's only 6 back too.

Going for Phil, Dustin, and Bubba. Love watching Dustin and Bubba's game, and Phil is just a class act and great role model.

I was pissed watching the coverage today. Pretty much 13 holes of Bubba's round fell within the time slot, and he maybe got 1 shot shown. It sucked, I know people like to watch Phil, but they pretty much followed him the whole time without following other players.

Freddie Couples at 5 under. Faded last year on final day. Still, I have a thing for the 50 year olds in majors. Norman in the British. Freddie last year at the Masters. And I was heartbroken when Watson lost to Cink.

I actually root for these guys whenever they play a traditional course that requires shotmaking, rather than bombing. It is why I love The Colonial- a course where shotmaking is a must- nothing like Nick Price and Corey Pavin showing the kids how to work the ball in all directions.

Hell, from what I understand the ball technology makes it harder to work the ball.

Go, Ogilvy, Go! Go, guy that wears his hat in a very weird and annoying way, Go!

Honestly, I think both of my horses will be there at the end. Ogilvy hasn't gone LOW yet. While he's been struggling of late, his game fits Augusta. Hell, he four putted the 2nd for a double and bogeyed 8 today. If not for that crapfest, he would likely be at the top. If he stays away from a mind f**k, he has the game to win this. A lot of golf yet to be played. I love that going into the weekend, you've got McIlroy, Day, Choi, Tiger, Quiros, Ogilvy, Couples, and many others lurikng.

God, I love the Masters...

McIlroy is just impressive as hell.

Uh, Tiger. Excuse me, your putter, while no longer as much of a friend as it used to be, is not the ogre standing in front of you ever catching Jack.

The ogre is named Rory, or Jason, Graeme, Bubba or about ten other young guys. These young studs hit the pill as long as you do....and now have better putting nerves.

18 never seemed so far away.

Tiger's edge when he was "the man" was his ability to hit 8-10 footers like no other. He'd shave 2-3 strokes a round drilling these putts. Now, he doesn't have that edge, and he seems to just fall in with the rest of the pack. Don't get me wrong, he's still a great golfer, but you're dead on with the young guys really emerging on the tour.

Good night Tigger. Thanks for playing. I'm sure people were creaming themselves yesterday. Well now they can crawl back into the hole.

the only thing that sucks is we have to hear and see Tiger's every swing for the next 18 hours. Hopefully, Rory is somewhere on ESPN too.

Agreed, who could forget the putt on 18 vs Mediate to force a playoff.

I forget it already. Tigger the weasal is already irrelevant. And Rick Reilly was trying to say this morning that he is anything but irrelevant.

He will never catch Jack and I love every minute of it.

Last night he was so pumped he had multiple women in his room. Guess it hurt him a little today.

Well, my horses crapped out today. Oh well. Tomorrow should be fun. I'm interested in seeing how McIlroy handles being in the final group with Cabrera. That may not be the best pairing for him. Cabrera has the experience and he goes for EVERYTHING. He is really aggressive. If Cabrera can birdie one and eagle 2, I wonder if it will take McIlroy out of his game plan and he will start trying to match Cabrera shot for aggressive shot.

McIlroy has been really impressive thus far. Closing this out tomorrow strongly would clearly mark his arrival in the elite, if he wasn't already there.

It's way too early to count Tiger out of catching Jack. He's still 3 years ahead of the pace.

I really divorce Tiger's personal life from his golf. I mean did you see his Seve recovery shot today? Frankly, I've always thought Phil to be a phoney. Most guys on tour feel the same.
If Rory falters I'd like to see Donald come from the pack. When I say that i think of Justin Leonard at the Open. The problem is Augusta isn't a great come from behind course.

I agree. I just got Cabrera at 12-1 to win. Love him at those odds.

I used to despise Tiger, but now I kind of like him after all of this shit happened. Not because I think cheating on your wife is a good thing, but because I am sick of all the media types just trashing him like they are perfect humans. I prefer Rory to win, but I really like that Tiger is playing well this week.

Adam Scott seems like a good guy, but a guy using a belly putter should not win a major unless it's on the Senior Tour.

I just got back from out of town and only saw the last putt by Schwartzel.

Holy Sheet! Birdies on 15,16,17 and 18 to win? That is f-ing incredible.

Uh, add another name to the barrier that stands between Woods and Jack.

First, great avatar, I'm pumped for the NHL playoffs, and I love the Caps. Hopefully the new style this year will be better for the playoffs. That's for another thread though.

Second, what a collapse. It was unreal seeing that unravel. It was a great Sunday at the masters, I was kind of hoping for a playoff, but still a great day.

Back from Augusta.

I'll keep it brief:

I was warned about the elevation changes. I had to look it up for #10 - from the tee box to the fairway bunker, the hole plunges 108 feet! It gets better. It goes back up by 12 feet from the landing area to the putting surface. You have to be in shape to walk that course, period.

The place makes you let out a chuckle once your eyes force your brain to consider the word "landscaping." A weed wouldn't dare show its ugly head anywhere near this remarkable patch of earth. I kinda thought people had exaggerated that part of it. I stand corrected.

The roars you here around the course, especially on the back nine, give you chills.

The only downside on the day were the 28 heat strokes that took place within one hour, according to a doctor that was helping me to line up a golf cart to get my wife's client and me back to Gate 9 in the afternoon. The count probably went up from there. By noon, we were at 90 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We could see tee shots from 12 perfectly from where we were situated, but it was so bright, you could barely see the ball land.

I promised brief, which I suspect I fail to accomplish most of the time I promise it, but, other than noting that another one has been knocked off the bucket list, I'll leave it at that.

No way I thought 14 under would win. Thought 12 would make a playoff.
Adam Scott has no reason to hang his head; lost to a guy who chipped in twice.

Don't think luck plays a part? Think Toms wins that major without the hole-in-one on Saturday?

And Day's wife is delicious.
