Well, I figured we already have a thread about Gin and one on Bourbon, so we need to have one for Whiskey too. What Whiskeys are you fools drinking? I'm gonna start as soon as I get home after reading about Jay Canty.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

The whiskey thread needs some love. Actually found a liquor store open on Christmas day, so I did my part. And Jack did his.

"...Mr Valentine.
Could you spare us a moment?
Don't I know you two guys?
Step inside, nice and warm in here.
Whisky, all you want.
I ain't falling for the same trick twice.
You'd get me in the car, and have me arrested for stealing it.
Why should we do that, Mr Valentine?
We're the ones who bailed you out...."

Great movie! :D

Jack Daniels is messing with its label? What the hell is your company thinking, bourbonman?

Last Call for Lynchburg (Pop. 361) as Jack Daniel's Rejiggers Its Label (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304066504576347674063906488.html?m od=WSJ_hp_MIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsFifth)

Just not right. The population of Lynchburg, TN should be 361 ad aeternum.

Adjusting the label makes some sense, but why mess with the shape of the bottle:

Some young marketing guy sitting behind a desk in Lousiville, probably never been to Tennessee in his whole life. Can't possibly be bourbonman.

Nope! Can't possibly since I'm not "young" in age, only in spirit. :) And I've been down to hollow many times. :D

When Xavier went down 19 points to Purdue, I poured a glass of Jameson in exasperation.

Only when I had a whiskey neat and a glass of beer in front of me did the Musketeers start to beat the Boilermakers.

Just saying.

Recently, my favorite whiskey of any type is Cody Road Rye. Over the summer, I stopped by their distillery in Le Claire, Iowa overlooking the Mississippi River. They also make a rather good bourbon.

Today is the 81st anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition, so celebrate accordingly.

Thank you for the happy memory. Happy memories about Xavier basketball in the three years since this post have been a bit scarce.
