And good riddance, my friend (who's a Cowboy nut) is saying.

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones fired coach Wade Phillips on Monday, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder.

The move comes less than a year after he was given a two-year contract extension for leading the Cowboys to their first playoff win in over a decade. He will be replaced by offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, the sources said.

The end for Phillips came after a 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night extended Dallas' losing streak to five games as the Cowboys -- which began the season with Super Bowl expectations -- fell to 1-7 overall.

Phillips ends his time in Dallas with a 35-23 record, having won two NFC East titles and getting the Cowboys' first playoff victory since 1996. Phillips is 83-65 overall as a head coach.

Garrett should have been fired, too.

Agreed. I don't believe in this often, but this is one of those times where the whole coaching staff needs an overhaul. They are just pitiful. GO FALCONS :p

DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the worst news I've heard in a long, long time. I, for one, am going to miss that dumb old turd very much. Here's to hoping Jerry's next victim can be at least half as incompetent as the good ole boy Wade. I'll miss ya Wade.

Perhaps...Dan Reeves?

...I'm sure they'll love his southern drawl down there.

I imagine the meeting between Phillips and Jones went something like this

Can someone forward this to Mike Brown?

That man is hopeless. (If you're referring to Bengals Owner.)

I've never seen a worse conglomerate of coaches in the NFL. To bad this firing won't do anything. Garrett blows more dick than Phillips, ok, maybe not.

Damnit. Loved seeing him patroll the sidelines. We always made a game out of the Cowboys games, as we had "Wade's Thoughts". Pretty much, whenver they focused on Wade, it seemed like he was some elderly man who was out there and had no idea where he was. Needless to say, it was a good time.

Oh well... Hail to the Redskins.

Dan Reeves is perfect if you're just looking to get to the Super Bowl (ask Denver and Atlanta). Too bad he can't win one, and that's all that counts in Dallas.

Winning the Super Bowl? With the way this team has played with their talent, I think getting TO the Super Bowl would be one hell of an improvement.

I have to say I am completely taking for granted that the Cowboys, Michigan and ND totally suck. It's awesome, and I hope it never ends.
