Per Fox News: Iran to release captured American Hiker (http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/09/09/iran-says-release-jailed-americans-saturday/)

Just a little reminder of what a festering sore on the taint of the earth Iran is. When I read articles like this about Iran a big part of me wonders if we shouldn't have pulled out of Iraq years ago and gone in and leveled Iran.

It also begs the question of why 3 Americans were hiking in the Kurdish Wilderness in Iraq. I'm not going to say that they were asking for it, but I sure as hell wouldn't do that. Talk about putting yourself in a potentially bad situation. They may actually be somewhat lucky that they were captured by the Iranians instead of some Tribal Warlord.

Another thing: Does anybody remember when Obama got elected how it was going to do wonders for our relations across the world? What ever happened to that? I thought that we were supposed to all be holding hands and singing Kumbaya by now. What gives?

I have no problem with doing everything within our power to retrieve U.S. citizens held by hostile regimes. Send the 101st Airborne if need be. I was glad to see Bill Clinton go get our girls out of North Korea (imagine him on that plane back - "I'm gonna get some dim sum, then get me some.").

BUT we have got to draw the line. No more wondering around the borders of authoritarian, anti-American, jackass rogue nations (How did I get in this gulag?). This is positively the last retrieval. We are not coming to get anyone in the future. Stop accidentally crossing borders. Keep a minimum safe distance of, maybe, a few hundred miles.

Very well said. Reps. I agree 100%.

Edit: Apparently I can't rep you.
