View Full Version : Favorite Song Lyrics.....

I love these music threads...I end up listening to some of the different suggestions and have always liked what I've heard. So, having said that, what says the forum about their favorite music lyrics? Not an entire song, just a line or a couple of lines in a song that really hit home or that you really like.

I'm sure I'll think of some more...but for quite a while, this has been my favorite few lines of a song:

"Why's it so great just to wake everyday, alive, and by your side...
Its a mystery I guess, there's lots of things that I can't find.
Its not the way that you look, but your move that catches my eye."

The Way That He Sings, My Morning Jacket, At Dawn

Caveat...the above post excludes any and all lyrics from the greatest band ever...its not fair to compare lyrics of various bands when one band has an amp that actually goes to 11....so exempt from this discussion is anything from Shark Sandwich, Jap Habit, Intravenus de Milo, Silent But Deadly, We Are All Flower People, Bitch School...and of course, Smell The Glove.

"I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vics...
.....His hair was perfect"

-Warren Zevon Werewolves of London

"Well we got no class...
And we got no principles...
And we got no innocence...
We can't even think of a word that rhymes"

-Alice Cooper School's Out

"Idiot Wind, blowing everytime you move your mouth..,
Like what's blowing down the backroads, heading south...
Idiot Wind, blowing every time you move your teeth...
You're an idiot babe...
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe..."

-Bob Dylan Idiot Wind

"If you want to destroy my sweater..
Pull this thread as I walk away...
Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked....
Lying on the floor, I come undone..."

-Weezer Sweater Song (So inane that it's great)

Plus
The entire song of Circle Game by Joni Mitchell and the entirety of Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake.

Is there really any part of this entire song that isn't great lyrically?

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said, "You know you always have the
Lord by your side"

And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran
Twenty red lights in his honor
Thank you Jesus, thank you lord

I had an arrangement to meet a girl, and I was kind of late
And I thought by the time I got there she'd be off
She'd be off with the nearest truck driver she could find
Much to my surprise, there she was sittin in the corner
A little bleary, worse for wear and tear
Was a girl with far away eyes

So if you're down on your luck
And you can't harmonize
Find a girl with far away eyes
And if you're downright disgusted
And life ain't worth a dime
Get a girl with far away eyes

Well the preacher kept right on saying that all I had to do was send
Ten dollars to the church of the sacred bleeding heart of Jesus
Located somewhere in Los Angeles, California
And next week they'd say my prayer on the radio
And all my dreams would come true
So I did, the next week, I got a prayer, and a girl
Well, you know what kind of eyes she got

So if you're down on your luck
I know you all sympathize
Find a girl with far away eyes
And if you're downright disgusted
And life ain't worth a dime
Get a girl with far away eyes

Not that jackson browne has ever been a favorite of mine, but,,,,,,

Pretty little one
How has it all begun?
They're teaching you how to walk
But you're already on the run
Little one--
What you gonna do?
Little one--
Honey, it's all up to you

Now your daddy's in the den shootin' up the evening news
Mama's with a friend, lately she's been so confused
Little one--
Come on and take my hand
I may not have the answer but I believe I got a plan

Honey you shake and I'll rattle and we'll roll on down the line
And see if we can't get in touch with a very close friend of mine
But let me clue you in, it ain't like him
To argue or pretend--
Honey let me introduce you to my redneck friend

And we will walk together

I have no idea, but speaking of the Walrus name the movie this came from:

I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people.

And speaking of John Lennon, one of my favorite song lyrics courtesy of Mr. Elvis Costello: "Was it a millionaire who said imagine no possessions?"

When I was just a baby,
My Mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy,
Don't ever play with guns,"
But I shot a man in Reno,
Just to watch him die,
When I hear that whistle blowin',
I hang my head and cry.

Most of my favorites come from one album, A-1-A, and drop me a few lattitudes...

There sits a fifth of tequila
God I swore I'd never drink it again
But my last little bout
I had my hair pulled out by a man
who wasn't really my friend
And I know I'll never see him again
..........................
Squalls out on the gulf stream,
Big storms coming soon.
I passed out in my hammock,
God, I slept way past noon.
Stood up and tried to focus,
I hoped I wouldn't have to look far.
I knew I could use a Bloody Mary,
So I stumbled next door to the bar
........................
Yeah, now the sun goes slidin' 'cross the water;
Sailboats, they go searchin' for the breeze.
Salt air it ain't thin,
It can stick right to your skin,
And make you feel fine.
It makes you feel fine.

'Cause I want to be there,
I want to go back down and a get high beside the sea there.
With a tin cup for a chalice
Fill it up with good red wine,
And I'm-a chewin' on a honeysuckle vine.
.................................

And I have been drunk now For over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishin'
Got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends
Just a few friends
..............................
Yeah, That's why it's still a mystery to me,
Why some people live like they do.
So many nice things happening out there,
Never even seen the clues.
Whoa, but we're doin' fine, we can travel and rhyme.
I know we've been doing our part.
Got a Caribbean soul I can barely control
and some Texas hidden here in my heart.

When routine bites hard, and ambitions are low
And resentment rides high, but emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again --

Why is the bedroom so cold? You've turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed - our respect run so dry?
Yet there's still this appeal that we've kept through our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again --

You cry out in your sleep - all my failings expose
There's a taste in my mouth, as desperation takes hold
Just that something so good just can't function no more
When love, love will tear us apart again

"All Along The Watchtower"

"There must be some way out of here"
said the joker to the thief
"There's too much confusion",
I can't get no relief
Businessmen, they drink my wine,
plowmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
know what any of it is worth.

"No reason to get excited",
the thief he kindly spoke
"There are many here among us
who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I, we've been through that,
and this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now,
the hour is getting late".

All along the watchtower,
princes kept the view
While all the women came and went,
barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance
a wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching,
the wind began to howl.

And this is for the questions that don't have any answers
The midnight glancers and the topless dancers
The candid freaks, cars packed with speakers
The G's with the forties and the chicks with beepers
The Northern Lights and the Southern Comfort
And it don't even matter if the veins are punctured
All the crackheads, the critics, the cynics
And all my heros in the Methodone Clinic
All you bastards at the IRS
For the crooked cops and the cluttered desks
For the shots of jack and the caps of meth
Half pints of love and the fifths of stress
For the hookers all tricking out in Hollywood
And for my hoods of the world misunderstood
I said it's all good and it's all in fun
Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

A couple of clips from songs played by one of my favorite bands...

Got a blank space where my mind should be
Got a cliff bar and some cold green tea
Got clouds that seem to follow me
Got strange demands piled up on me

Got memories, got memories
Got memories, memories of being free

Gonna steal time from the faulty plan
Gonna act as though I'm still a man
Gonna give you one last chance to see
Gonna shrug demands off of me

Gonna dream, gonna dream, gonna dream
Gonna dream, dream of being free

Gonna steal time from the faulty plan
Steal time from the faulty plan
Gonna steal time from the faulty plan
Steal time from the faulty plan

Passing through the corridor I came upon an aging knight
Who leaned against the wall in gnarly armor
He was on his way to see the king
Wilson
Wilson
Wilson
He led me through the streets of Prussia talking
As he tried to crush a bug that scurried underneath his bootheel
He said there was a place where we should go
So he lead me through the forest to the edge of a lagoon by which
We wandered 'til we reached a bubbly spring
The knight grew very quiet as we stood there
Then he lifted up his visor and he turned to me and he began to sing

[Chorus:]
He said I come from the land of darkness
I said I come from the land of doom
He said I come from the land of Gamehendge
From the land of the big baboon
But I'm never never going back there
And I couldn't if I tried
'Cause I come from the land of Lizards
And the Lizards they have died
And the Lizards they have died
And the Lizards they have died
And the Lizards they have died

From the "Good song but that's just wrong category"..I give you Sublime:

That's when things got out of control.
The moral of the date rape story, it does not pay to be drunk and horny.
But that's the way it had to be.
They locked him up and threw away the key.
Well, I can't take pity on men of his kind,
even though he now takes it in the behind.

For pure party lyrics AC/DC has no equal:

Dizzy, drunk and fightin'
On tequila white lightnin'
My glass is getting shorter
On whiskey, ice and water
So come on and have a good time
And get blinded out of your mind

My favorite verse from my favorite Dead song:

In the thick of the evening when the dealing got rough,
She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff.
As I picked up my matches and was closing the door,
I had one of those flashes I'd been there before, been there before.

Well, I ain't always right but I've never been wrong.
Seldom turns out the way it does in a song.
Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Maybe there are better lyrics than those in "Love in an Elevator" by Aerosmith, but I don't remember any as good as this section...

...Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it uo 'til I hit the ground.

Jacki's in the elevator
Lingerie second floor
She said, "Can I see you later
And Love you just a little more"?
I kinda hope we get stuck
Nobody gets out alive
She said, "I'll show you how to fax in the
mailroom honey and have you home by five."

Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up 'til I hit the ground

In the air, in the air, honey one more time
Now it ain't fair
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I'm goin' down

Gonna be a penthouse pauper
Gonna be a millionaire
I'm gonna be a real fast talker
And have me a love affair
Gotta get my timin' right
It's a test that I gotta pass
I'll chase you all the way to the stairway honey
Kiss your sassafras...

It doesn't hurt to have Liv Tyler's Daddy sing the lead either!!!

I tried to pick out the best set of lyrics off of The Afghan Whigs "Black Love" album, but they were all too good. So I'll go with the opener, which sets the tone perfectly:

Tonight, tonight I say goodbye
To everyone who loves me
Stick it to my enemies, tonight
Then I disappear
Bathe my path in shining light
Set the dials to thrill me
Every secret has its price
This one's set to kill

Too loose, too tight, too dark, too bright
A lie, the truth, which one should I use?
If the lie succeeds
Then you'll know what I mean
When I tell you I have secrets
To attend

Do you think I'm beautiful?
Or do you think I'm evil?
Will you take me for a ride?
The one that never ends
Too loose, too tight, too dark, too bright
A lie, the truth, which one shall I use?
If the lie succeeds
Then you'll know what I mean
When I tell you I have secrets
To attend

Tonight, tonight I say goodbye
To everything that thrills me
As I throw the chains
I forged in life
To shatter on the floor

As I dream all the evidence
Is piling up against me
As I breathe all the essence rare
Is falling off the vine
And if you knew, just how smooth
I could stop it on the dime
You could meet me at the
scene of the crime

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen

Now, I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which are heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Just about everything written by Cohen is fantastic. The poetry is amazing. Even when the music itself sucks, I listen for the words. You skipped my favorite stanza of the song though:

"There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy ghost was moving too
And every breath we drew was Halleluja"

It just seems to some up the gut-wrenching emptiness at the end of a relationship.

The meandering Quran burning thread reminded me of one of my favorite songs for lyrics: Harvey Danger's Flagpole sitter. I am thinking specifically of the line "the agony and the irony they're killing me!" It's a great song to sing loudly and badly on the drive home after a mind-numbing day at work.

Can't get this tune out of my head.

East Bound And Down ~ Jerry Reed

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long why to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run

Keep your foot hard on the peddle...son, never mind them brakes
let it all hang out cause we've got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarcana
and we'll bring it back no matter what it takes

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run ......

Old Smokey's got them ears on, he's hot on your trail
and he ain't gonna rest 'till you're in jail
So you gotta dodge him.... you gotta duck him
You've gotta keep that diesel truckin....
just put that hammer down and give it hell

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run

Everyone of a certain age knows the tune from Smokey and The Bandit. A friend brought it up in a conversation the other day and it keeps going through my head. Read the song and hum along and it might happen to you too...The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarcana...

Dixie

I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in, early on a frosty mornin',
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.

Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie

It was a favorite of Abe Lincoln. He played it on the campaign trail. From the wiki:

"Dixie" quickly gained wide recognition and status as a minstrel standard, and it helped rekindle interest in plantation material from other troupes, particularly in the third act. It became a favorite of Abraham Lincoln's and was played during his campaign in 1860.[59] The New York Clipper wrote that it was "one of the most popular compositions ever produced" and that it had "been sung, whistled, and played in every quarter of the globe."[60] Buckley's Serenaders performed the song in London in late 1860, and by the end of the decade, it had found its way into the repertoire of British sailors.[61] As the American Civil War broke out, one New Yorker wrote,

"Dixie" has become an institution, an irrepressible institution in this section of the country . . . As a consequence, whenever "Dixie" is produced, the pen drops from the fingers of the plodding clerk, spectacles from the nose and the paper from the hands of the merchant, the needle from the nimble digits of the maid or matron, and all hands go hobbling, bobbling in time with the magical music of "Dixie."[62]

The song even added a new term to the American lexicon: "Whistling 'Dixie'" is a slang expression meaning "[engaging] in unrealistically rosy fantasizing".[63] For example, "Don't just sit there whistling 'Dixie'!" is a reprimand against inaction, and "You ain't just whistling 'Dixie'!" indicates that the addressee is serious about the matter at hand.

Every time I hear this song, I thank God He delivered William Sherman to save them from themselves.

We are the only democracy in history to fight a civil war to abolish slavery. Every other nation did it peacefully. We had the bloodiest war in our history. Think about that when you are thanking God for Sherman and his war crimes.

Great, Lincoln played it before the South decided they didn't want to be Americans anymore. You got me there Sniper!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....ahhhh, war crimes? Yes I remember when Sherman was tried for his "war crimes." I MAKE GEORGIA HOWL!

If it wasn't for him, more Americans would have died and "Dixie" would have have continued to own people. I guess burning cities is worse to you then owning human beings.

Sorry everyone. Didn't mean to hijack this thread. But Dixie sucks. That's all I wanted to say.

I was ready to post a Shinedown song, as most of their songs have really good lyrics, but in light of some of the other posts, I'll post this one from Halestorm (consider while reading the lead singer is a female):

You don't know that I know,
You watch me every night
And I just can't resist the urge
To stand here in the light
Your greedy eyes upon me
And then I come undone
And I could close the curtains
But this is too much fun

I get off on you
Getting off on me
I give you what you want
But nothing is for free
It's all give and take
Kinda life we make
When your line is crossed
I get off
I get off

So much left unspoken
Between the two of us
It's so much more exciting
To look when you can't touch
You could say I am different
And maybe I'm a freak
But I know how to twist ya
To bring you to your knees

I get off on you
Getting off on me
I give you what you want
But nothing is for free
It's all give and take
Kinda life we make
When your line is crossed
I get off
I get off

But you don't know
What you can't see
Is what I do for you
I do for me

I get off on you
Getting off on me
I give you what you want
Yeaaaaaaah...

I get off on you
Getting off on me
I give you what you want
But nothing is for free
It's all give and take
Kinda life we make
When your line is crossed
I get off
I get off

Yeaah .... I get off
Yeaah .... I get off
I get off!!

BTW, if you couldn't already tell, the song is called "I Get Off"

It was between this and Androgynous from The Replacements.

She don't wear no pants and she don't wear no tie
Always on the ball, she's always on strike
Struttin' up the aisle, big deal, you get to fly
You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky
You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky

Paid my fare, don't wanna complain
You get to me, you're always outta champagne
Treat me like a bum, don't wear no tie
'cause you ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky
You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky

And the sign says, "Thank you very much for not smoking"
My own sign says, "I'm sorry, I'm smokin'"
Don't treat me special, don't kiss my ass
Treat me like the way they treat 'em up in first class

Sanitation expert and a maintenance engineer
Garbage man, a janitor and you my dear
A real union flight attendant, my oh my
You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky
You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky
You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky

"I'd rather have my blood sucked out by leeches,
Shove an icepick under a toenail, or two,
I'd rather clean all the bathrooms
in Grand Central Station with my tongue,
Than spend one more minute with you."

'Come Pick Me Up' by Ryan Adams is proly my favorite song. It's quietly brutal. I mean, this chick cheated on him with his pals and THEN stole his records. That's low. But do yourself a big favor and download this jam. It's not an upper but it's a good'n.

When they call your name
Will you walk right up
With a smile on your face?
Will you cower in fear?
In your favourite sweater
With an old love letter

I wish you would

Come pick me up
Take me out
**** me up
Steal my records
Screw all my friends
They're all full of shit
With a smile on your face
And then do it again
I wish you would

When you're walking down town
Do you wish I was there?
Do you wish it was me?
With the windows clear
And the mannequins eyes
Do they all look like mine

You know you could
I wish you would

Come pick me up
Take me out
**** me up
Steal my records
Screw all my friends
Behind my back
With a smile on your face
And then do it again
I wish you would

I wish you'd make up my bed
So I could make up my mind
Try it for sleeping instead
Maybe you'll rest sometime
I wish I could

I like the lyrics to Dear God 2.0 by the Roots. Its dark and depressing, but still a very good listen. I'd highly recommend the CD, even if you aren't a big fan of R&B/Rap. Good music is good music.

Dear God, I'm trying hard to reach you
Dear God, I see your face in all I do
Sometimes, it's so hard to believe it...
But God, I know you have your reasons

They said he's busy hold the line please
Call me crazy, I thought maybe he could mind read
Who does the blind lead?
Show me a sign please
If everything is made in China, are we Chinese?

And why do haters separate us like we siamese?
Technology turning the planet into zombies
Everybody all in everybody's dirty laundry
Acid rain, earthquakes, hurricane, tsunamis

Terrorist, crime sprees, assaults, and robberies
Cops yellin' stop, freeze
Shoot him before he try to leave
Air quality so foul, I gotta try to breath
Endangered species
And we runnin' out of trees

If I could hold the world in the palm of these
Hands, I would probably do away with these anomalies
Everybody checkin' for the new award nominee
Wars and atrocities
Look at all the poverty

Ignoring the prophecies
More beef than broccoli
Corporate monopoly
Weak world economy
Stock market topplin'
Mad marijuana oxycotton and klonopin
Everybody out of it?

Well I've been thinkin' about
And I've been breakin' it down
Without an answer

I know I'm thinking out loud
But if you're lost and around
Why do we suffer?
Why do we suffer?

Yeah... It's still me, one of your biggest fans
I get off work
Right back to work again
I probably need to go ahead and have my head exam
Look at how they got me on the Def Jam payment plan

Well, I'm in the world of entertainment and
Trying to keep a singing man sane for the paying fans
If I don't make it through the night, slight change of plans
Harp strings, angel wings, and praying hands

Lord, forgive me for my shortcomings
For going on tour and ignoring the court summons
All I'm trying to do is live life to the fullest
They sent my daddy to you in a barrage of bullets

Why is the world ugly when you made it in your image?
And why is livin' life such a fight to the finish?
For this high percentage
When the sky's the limit
A second is a minute, every hour's infinite

Dear God, I'm trying hard to reach you
Dear God, I see your face in all I do
Sometimes, it's so hard to believe it..

I also like Now Or Never....for those of you who may not know it, it was the song that was played at the end of the season finale of Hard Knocks this year.

Not necessarily a song lyric but the opening lines to Tupac's If I Die 2nite ring especially true to me:

A coward dies a thousand deaths, a soldier dies but once

Granted this was also just a reworking of what Caesar says in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, but growing up Pac was my preacher.

I'd also go with Marvin Gaye's line in What's Going On:

War is not the answer cause only love can conquer hate

Watch them run, watch them fall,
Watch them try to catch a ball, olympics
At the special olympics.

Watch them laugh, watch them drool,
Watch them fall into the pool, that's diving.
At the special olympics.

And I know full well, that I will burn in hell,
But those guys playing wheelchair basketball gotta be about the funniest freakin' thing I've ever seen in my life,
At the special olympics.

Verse Two

Kid with downs wins the race, even though he stood in place, olympics.
At the special...olympics.

'Round his neck, gold medals hung.
Resting on his giant tongue, olympics.
That's the special olympics.

But I kid when I sing, cause these games are a beautiful thing.
Okay, really, I'm just avoiding karma, cause I know my children are going to be born crippled and blind and until I'm retired I'm going to spend all my time,
at the special olympics.

When I saw this post, in the back of my head I knew there was some great lyrics in a song that I would say out loud to my wife, when she was acting "wife-ish"....but I couldn't think of what it was. After hearing it this weekend, I thought I would post.

A good rule for the married from The BOSS.

It ought to be easy ought to be simple enough
Man meets woman and they fall in love
But the house is haunted and the ride gets rough
And youve got to learn to live with what you can't rise above
if you want to ride on down in through this tunnel of love

Translation for the Xavierhoops board:

"Listen, you knew when we got engaged that I watch every single Xavier game and I don't like missing them. This isn't going to change...I love you, but you have to live with this fact!"

A little light looks through, her bedroom window.
She dances and I dream, she's not so far as she seems,
Of brighter meadows, melting sunsets,
Her hair blowing in the breeze.
And she can't see me watching.
I'm thinking, looooove... looooove...looooove... looooove...

It's bittersweet, more sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet
It's a bitter sweet, surrender
It's bittersweet, more sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet,
It's a bitter sweet, surrender

I said I'm older now. I work in a city. We live together.
But it's different than my dream.
Morning light fills the room. I rise.
She pretends she's sleeping.
Are we everything we wanted?
I'm thinking, looooove... looooove...looooove... looooove...

It's bittersweet, more sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet
It's a bitter sweet, surrender
It's bittersweet, more sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet,
It's a bitter sweet, surrender

I said I know we don't talk about it.
We don't tell each other...
All the little things that we need.
We work our way around each other
As we tremble and we... as we tremble and we bleed.
As we tremble and we... as we tremble and we bleed.

It's bittersweet, more sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet
It's a bitter sweet, surrender
It's bittersweet, more sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet,
It's a bitter sweet, surrender

One last one and I'm done...I think.

Paul Simon says he wrote the 2/3 of this song and the studio asked him to make it longer and he added what's below. However, some people think this is about herion and you don't have to look that hard to figure out why. The song rises at this part and really forms an illusion of the needle going in as "Silver Girl" and the rest is ease and flight.

I doubt this song is about herion...Simon says his lady at that time just found some gray hairs, so:

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
When you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

By the way, piano player Larry Knechtel and the Wrecking Crew killed during this time. These guys (and girl) were studs in LA in the late 1960's. I am glad they got into the HOF...so many great songs they recorded as most people didn't know that these guys were the real engine behind some awesome songs and the guys they saw on stage were not the orginal recorders.

Go on home British Soldiers Go on home
Have you got no fucking homes of your own
For 800 years we've fought you without fear
And we will fight you for 800 more

If you stay British Soldiers If you stay
You'll never ever beat the IRA
For the 14 men in Derry
Are the last that you will bury
So take a tip And leave us bloody be

So Go on home British Soldiers Go on home
Have you got no fucking homes of your own
For 800 years we've fought you without fear
And we will fight you for 800 more

We're not British, we're not Saxon we're not English
We're Irish and proud we are to be
So fuck your Union Jack We want our country back
We want to see old Ireland free once more

So Go on home British Soldiers Go on home
Have you got no fucking homes of your own
For 800 years we've fought you without fear
And we will fight you for 800 more

We'll fight them British Soldiers for the cause
We'll never bow to Soldiers because
Troughout our history We were born to be free
So get out British bastards leave us be

So Go on home British Soldiers Go on home
Have you got no fucking homes of your own
For 800 years we've fought you without fear
And we will fight you for 800 more

Go on home British Soldiers Go on home
Have you got no fucking homes of your own
For 800 years we've fought you without fear
And we will fight you for 800 more

My new favorite lyrics:

Rain Makes Corn
Corn makes whiskey
Whiskey makes my baby...feel a little frisky.

I'm not much for country music but I blast that song anytime I hear it.

KNOW YOUR ENEMY

Huh!
Yeah, we're comin' back then with another bombtrack
Think ya know what it's all about
Huh!
Hey yo, so check this out
Yeah!
Know your enemy!
Come on!

Born with insight and a raised fist
A witness to the slit wrist, that's with
As we move into '92
Still in a room without a view
Ya got to know
Ya got to know
That when I say go, go, go
Amp up and amplify
Defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
Action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Fist in ya face, in the place
And I'll drop the style clearly
Know your enemy...Know your enemy!
Yeah!

Hey yo, and dick with this...uggh!
Word is born
Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy?

Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Now action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
Sick of sick of sick of sick of you
Time has come to pay...
Know your enemy!

Come on!
Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone.
It's not warm when she's away.
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long anytime she goes away.

Wonder this time where she's gone,
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home anytime she goes away.

It's overwhelming to decide, but this is right near the top.

If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dream
Where immobile steel rims crack
And the ditch in the back roads stop
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down
In silence easy
To be born again
To be born again
From the far side of the ocean
If I put the wheels in motion
And I stand with my arms behind me
And I’m pushin’ on the door
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down
In silence easy
To be born again
To be born again
There you go
Standin’ with the look of avarice
Talkin’ to huddie ledbetter
Showin’ pictures on the wall
Whisperin’ in the hall
And pointin’ a finger at me
There you go, there you go
Standin’ in the sun darlin’
With your arms behind you
And your eyes before
There you go
Takin’ good care of your boy
Seein’ that he’s got clean clothes
Puttin’ on his little red shoes
I see you know he’s got clean clothes
A-puttin’ on his little red shoes
A-pointin’ a finger at me
And here I am
Standing in your sad arrest
Trying to do my very best
Lookin’ straight at you
Comin’ through, darlin’
Yeah, yeah, yeah
If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dreams
Where immobile steel rims crack
And the ditch in the back roads stop
Could you find me
Would you kiss-a my eyes
Lay me down
In silence easy
To be born again
To be born again
To be born again
In another world
In another world
In another time
Got a home on high
Ain’t nothing but a stranger in this world
I’m nothing but a stranger in this world
I got a home on high
In another land
So far away
So far away
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
In another time
In another place
In another time
In another place
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
We are goin’ up to heaven
We are goin’ to heaven
In another time
In another place
In another time
In another place
In another face

I'm the shit get the fuck up out my toilet - Lil Wayne "Lightin' Up My Lyrics"

And of course "Egg Man" by the Beastie Boys

I looked out the window and seen his bald head
I ran to the fridge and pulled out an egg
Scoped him with my scopes he had no hair
Launched that shot and he was caught out there
Saw the convertible driving by
Loaded up the slingshot and let one fly
He went for his to find he didn't have one
Put him in check correct with my egg gun
The egg a symbol of life
Go inside your house and bust out your wife
Pulled out the jammy he thought it was a joke
The trigger I pulled his face the yoke
Reached in his pocket took all his cash
Left my man standing with an egg moustache
Suckers they come a dime a dozen
And when I say dozen you know what I'm talking about
Humpty Dumpty was a big fat egg
He was playing the wall and then he broke his leg
Tossed it out the window three minutes hot
Hit the Rastaman he said *bloodclot*
Which came first the chicken or the egg
I egged the chicken then I ate his leg
Riding the trains in between cars
When I pull out the station *you're gonna get yours*
Drive by eggings plaguing L.A.
*Yo they just got my little cousin ese*
Sometimes hard boiled sometimes runny
It comes from a chicken not a bunny dummy
People laugh it's no joke
My name's Yauch and I'm throwing the yoke
*Now they got me in a cell* but I don't care
It was then that I caught catching people out there
We all dressed in black we snuck up around the back
We began to attack the eggs did crack on Haze's back
Sam I am down with the program
Green eggs and ham Yosemite Sam
Come Halloween you know I come strapped
I throw it at a sucker K-pap
You made the mistake you judge a man by his race
You go through life with egg on your face
You woke up in the morning with a peculiar feeling
You looked up and saw egg dripping from the ceiling
Families puck rocks the businessman
I'll dog anybody with an egg in my hand
Not like the crack that you put in a pipe
But crack on your forehead here's a towel now wipe

Grey Street
Dave Matthews Band

Oh, just sitting while she listens
She says I don't need this place
It seems a million years she's stuck here
But says nothing of what she thinks

She thinks, "Hey,
How did I come to this?
I dreamt like anybody else one night
I would be a beautiful princess."

But then the roads in the park fall
And then she rode the line in
And the colors mix together to grey
And break me out

Oh, when I'm indifferent
She prays to God most every night
Although she swears He doesn't listen
There's hope in her that He just might

She says, "I pray
But then my prayer fall on deaf ears
I'm supposed to take it all myself
To get out of this place."

She feels the lumps in the heart fall
And she rose up in the back
She hears the cars scream out from outside
And she whispers sometimes about this
But the colors mix together to grey
And wake me up

Oh, he grows up living
He says take what you can from your dreams
Make them real as anything
It takes the work out of the courage

She said, "Please,
There's a crazy man standing outside my door
I live on the corner of a dead end street
At the end of the world."

Oh, and the rocks out in the heart fall
And she dreams her way to life
And she knows no one will lift her
So she might as well do it herself

And then bummed out and worried
Of leaving city life
But all the colors mix together to grey
On Grey Street
On Grey Street
To Grey Street

Oh, when it comes down in your loving
Oh, well then baby it's right
You say you think you are nothing
No one else will do it for you
Reach up and grab hold of the sunlight
When you are waiting for what's right
You're holding on your Heaven
Won't leave you, yeah, yeah...

And the colors mix together to grey
Wake me up, wake me up, wake me up
To grey.

Title: Jackie Brown

is this your life, jackie brown?
Poorly educated and forced to live on the poor side of town.
Is this your daughter, jackie brown?
This pretty little girl
In the worn out clothes
That have been hand-me down.
Is this your wife, jackie brown?
With sad blue eyes, walking on eggshells so you don't see her frown.
Is this your family, jackie brown?

Dream of vacationing on a mountain stream
And giving the world more than it gave you.
What ugly truths freedom brings
And it hasn't been very kind to you.
Is this your life, jackie brown?

Is this your meal, jackie brown?
Barely enough, i've seen people throw away more than this out.
Is this your home, jackie brown?
This three room shack
With no running water
And the bathroom out back.
Is this your grave, jackie brown?
This little piece of limestone that says another desperate man took
Himself out.
Is this your dream, jackie brown?

Going nowhere and nowhere fast
We shame ourselves to watch people like this live.
But who gives a damn about jackie brown?
Just another lazy man who couldn't take what was his.
One helluva life jackie brown.
Forevermore, jackie brown
Amen and amen - jackie brown?

In my country there is problem,
And that problem is transport.
It take very very long,
Because Kazakhstan is big.

Throw transport down the well,
So my country can be free.
We must make travel easy,
Then we have big party!

In my country there is problem,
And that problem is the Jew.
They take everybody's money,
They never give it back.

Throw the Jew down the well,
So my country can be free.
You must grab him by his horns,
Then we have big party.

If you see the Jew coming,
You must be careful of his teeth.
You must grab him by his money,
And I tell you what to do...

Everybody!

Throw the Jew down the well
So my country can be free
You must grab him by his horns
Then we have big party

Throw the Jew down the well

You must grab him by his horns
Then we have big party!

An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat
He's riding hard to catch that herd, but he ain't caught 'em yet
'Cause they've got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire
As they ride on hear their cry

As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name
If you want to save your soul from Hell a-riding on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Trying to catch the Devil's herd, across these endless skies

THAT BUCKIN SONG

I had a horse, her name was Bad Luck,
She wasn't good lookin', but she sure could buck.
Yeah hoo- Hey, hey,
Yippy-i Ki-ay.

I put my momma on her, she threw her in the air,
Momma said, "Son, that's a mother-buckin' mare."
Yeah hoo- Hey, hey,
Yippy-i Ki-ay.

I took her to the rodeo, she won 'a second place,
Did really buckin' good in the buckin' barrel race.
Yeah hoo- Hey, hey,
Yippy-i Ki-ay.

...Ride on....

She won a thousand dollars, I put it in my hat,
Bought a brand new saddle; she bucked me outta that.
Yeah hoo- Hey, hey,
Yippy-i Ki-ay.

She bucked me on the pick-up truck,
she bucked me on the fence;
Daddy said, "Son, ya got no buckin' sense."
Yeah hoo- Hey, hey,
Yippy-i Ki-ay.

...Try again.... Awww, watch it.... There she goes.... Ooh, hoo....
One more time....

If ya got a bucker, don't ever buck around,
that buckin' mother bucker 'll buck ya on the ground.
Yeah hoo- Hey, hey,
Yippy-i Ki-ay.

Sweet Jane --- Velvet Underground (Lyrics by Lou Reed)

Standing on the corner,
Suitcase in my hand
Jack is in his corset, and Jane is her vest,
And me I'm in a rock'n'roll band Hah!
Ridin' in a Stutz Bear Cat, Jim
You know, those were different times!
Oh, all the poets they studied rules of verse
And those ladies, they rolled their eyes

Sweet Jane! Whoa! Sweet Jane, oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane!

I'll tell you something
Jack, he is a banker
And Jane, she is a clerk
Both of them save their monies, ha
And when, when they come home from work
Oh, Sittin' down by the fire, oh!
The radio does play
The classical music there, Jim
"The March of the Wooden Soldiers"
All you protest kids
You can hear Jack say, get ready, ah

Sweet Jane! Come on baby! Sweet Jane! Oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane!

Some people, they like to go out dancing
And other peoples, they have to work, Just watch me now!
And there's even some evil mothers
Well they're gonna tell you that everything is just dirt
Y'know that, women, never really faint
And that villains always blink their eyes, woo!
And that, y'know, children are the only ones who blush!
And that, life is just to die!
And, everyone who ever had a heart
They wouldn't turn around and break it
And anyone who ever played a part
Oh wouldn't turn around and hate it!

Sweet Jane! Whoa-oh-oh! Sweet Jane! Sweet Jane!

Heavenly wine and roses
Seems to whisper to her when he smiles
Heavenly wine and roses
Seems to whisper to her when she smiles
La lala lala la, la lala lala la
Sweet Jane
Sweet Jane
Sweet Jane

Our next game is on my mind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6uADPVzXFU&feature=fvst)....

The devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind: he was willin' to make a deal.
When he came across this young man sawin' on a fiddle and playin' it hot.
And the devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said: "Boy let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the devil his due:
"I bet a fiddle of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Johnny and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been."

Johnny you rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard.
'Cos hells broke loose in Georgia and the devil deals the cards.
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.

The devil opened up his case and he said: "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he rosined up his bow.
And he pulled the bow across his strings and it made an evil hiss.
Then a band of demons joined in and it sounded something like this.
When the devil finished, Johnny said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son.
"But sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done."

Fire on the mountain, run boys, run.
The devil's in the house of the risin' sun.
Chicken in the bread pan, pickin' out dough.
"Granny, does your dog bite?"
"No, child, no."

The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
He laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny's feet.
Johnny said: "Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again.
"I told you once, you son of a bitch, I'm the best that's ever been."

And he played fire on the mountain, run boys, run.
The devil's in the house of the risin' sun.
Chicken in the bread pan, now they're pickin' out dough.
"Granny, will your dog bite?"
"No, child, no."

Verse 1
Bring the good old bugle, boys, we'll sing another song
Sing it with a spirit that will start the world along
Sing it as we used to sing it, 50,000 strong[4]
While we were marching through Georgia.

Chorus
Hurrah! Hurrah! we bring the jubilee![5]
Hurrah! Hurrah! the flag that makes you free!
So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 2
How the darkeys shouted when they heard the joyful sound
How the turkeys gobbled which our commissary found
How the sweet potatoes even started from the ground
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 3
Yes and there were Union men who wept with joyful tears,
When they saw the honored flag they had not seen for years;
Hardly could they be restrained from breaking forth in cheers,
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 4
"Sherman's dashing Yankee boys will never reach the coast!"
So the saucy rebels said and 'twas a handsome boast
Had they not forgot, alas! to reckon with the Host
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 5
So we made a thoroughfare for freedom and her train,
Sixty miles in latitude, three hundred to the main;
Treason fled before us, for resistance was in vain
While we were marching through Georgia.

I Got Loaded

Last night I got Loaded
On a bottle of gin, on a bottle of gin
Last night I got loaded
On a Bottle of gin, on a bottle of gin
But I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright

Night before last I got loaded
On a bottle of whiskey, on a bottle of whiskey
Night before last I got loaded
On a bottle of whiskey, on a bottle of whiskey
But I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright

Tonight I might get loaded
On a bottle of wine, on a bottle of wine
Tonight I might get loaded
On a bottle of wine, on a bottle of wine
But I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright

Hot Hot Hot

The first time I saw lightening strike
I saw it underground
Six deep feet below the street
The sky came crashing down
For a second that place was lost in space
Then everything went black
I left that basement burning
And I never went back

This verse always reminds me of Sato and Chalmers last visit to UD arena.

Your my heaven, your my hell,
You're my now, you're my forever,
You're my freedom, your my jail,
You're my lies your my truth,
You're my war you're my truce
Your my questions your my proof

Nuthin' better than starting off a Sunday morn with the Rev. Al Green......

Let's stay together

I'm, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is alright with me
'Cause you make me feel, so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you

Me sayin' since, baby, since we've been together
Ooo, loving you forever
Is what I need
Let me, be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue
Ooo baby

Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

Oooo oooo ooo ooo, yeah
Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad

Why somebody, why people break up
Oh, and turn around and make up
I just can't seeeeeeeee
You'd never do that to me
(Would you baby)
'Cause being around you is all I see
It's why I want us to

Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether

Not a big rap fan, or anything else produced after about 1978, but the band Spose, from Maine. Hard to figure out how much is tongue in cheek, but if you live in Maine and know of the many young adults frustrated that this is no more than a very large retirement home,,

I'm Awesome

Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome...
I don't necessarily need to be here for this...
I'm gonna keep the headphones though...
Mother fucker I'm awesome!
No you're not, dude don't lie
I'm awesome!
I'm drivin around in my mom's ride
I'm awesome!
A quarter of my life gone by
And I met all my friends online
Mother fucker I'm awesome!
I will run away from a brawl
I'm awesome!
There's no voicemail, nobody called
I'm awesome!
I can't afford to buy eight balls
And I talk to myself on my Facebook wall

You know my pants sag low (low)
Even though (though) that went out of style
Like ten years ago (go)
Spose, I got the swagger of a cripple
I got little biceps,
Getting fatter in the middle

And lyrically I'm not the best :)
Physically the opposite of Randy Moss and yet
So preposterous
Feel the awesomeness, the most obnoxious
Guest up at the sausage fest
Oh yes!
The girls are repulsed
So I hide in my hood like i'm joining a cult
Uh Uhh
I'm as nervous as my cattle dirty curtis
All my writtens are bitten and
All my verses are purchased
Me? I'll never date an actress
Got too many back zits
Plus my whole home aroma is cat piss
Every show i do is poorly promoted and if you like this,
It's cuz my little sister wrote it

I'm awesome!
No you're not, dude don't lie
I'm awesome!
I'm drivin around in my mom's ride
I'm awesome!
A quarter of my life gone by
And I met all my friends online
Mother fucker I'm awesome!
I will run away from a brawl
I'm awesome!
There's no voicemail, nobody called
I'm awesome!
I can't afford to buy eight balls
And I talk to myself on my Facebook wall
I'm awesome

Check it out

I'm from Maine and I don't hunt, nope
And I can't ski
Smoke weed but I can't roll blunts
Find me whipped by my wifey
My neck not icy
Eatin at McDonalds because Subway's pricey

Uh, and my unibrow is plucked
Just asked my mom if I could borrow ten bucks
She's like "For what?
Blunt wraps and some Heineken?
You skinny prick, go get a gym membership and vitamins!"
I'm like, Mom please, don't blame it on me

I got my bad habits from you, Dad, and Aunt Steve
My attitude's sour but my futon's sweet,
And the hair on my ass, it is Jumanji

Suit untailored, ringtone Taylor Swift
Can't tweet up on my Twitter
Cuz I haven't done shit
Bank account red, body ungroomed
The only thing good about me is I'm off stage soon

I'm awesome!
No you're not, dude don't lie
I'm awesome!
I'm drivin around in my mom's ride
I'm awesome!
A quarter of my life gone by
And I met all my friends online
Mother fucker I'm awesome!
I will run away from a brawl
I'm awesome!
There's no voicemail, nobody called
I'm awesome!
I can't afford to buy eight balls
And I talk to myself on my Facebook wall
I'm awesome

Futhermore I'm cornier than Ethynol
Cheesier than Provolone
I spent ages eight to ten living in a motor home
With a ego the size of Tim Duncan
Even though I got shit for brains like a blumpkin
I'm twenty four, serving lobster rolls
Because I spent a decade filling optimos
And I'm not even the bomb in Maine
On my game I'm only about as sexy as John McCain
Now put your hands up,
If you have nightmares
If you wouldn't man up if there was a fight here
If you got dandruff, if you drink light beer
I'm outta breath...

But I'm awesome!
No you're not, dude don't lie
I'm awesome!
I'm drivin around in my mom's ride
I'm awesome!
A quarter of my life gone by
And I met all my friends online
Mother fucker I'm awesome!
I will run away from a brawl
I'm awesome!
There's no voicemail, nobody called
I'm awesome!
I can't afford to buy eight balls
And I talk to myself on my Facebook wall
I'm awesome

Or perhaps best lyrics to scream in your car, and get a speeding ticket to?

The highways jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybodys out on the run tonight but there's no place left to hide
Together wendy well live with the sadness
Ill love you with all the madness in my soul
Someday girl I don't know when were gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go and well walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us baby we were born to run

What a terrible waste of energy

So why don't you just go on home
If you want to moan you'll have to moan alone
You'll dance to anything...
You'll dance to anything...
Don't try to tell me that you're an intellectual
Cause you're just another boring bisexual

Blow it out your hairdoo cause you really work at Hardees
80 pounds of make up on your art school skin
80 points of I.Q. located within

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence

This is out of the ordinary but it's kind of lyrical and sticks with you:

It's hard to be a Jew on Christmas.
My friends won't let me join in any games.
And I can't sing Christmas songs or decorate a Christmas tree
Or leave water out for Rudolph, cause there's something wrong with me.
My people don't believe in Jesus Christ divinity..
I'm a Jew, a lonely Jew, on Christmas.

Hannukah is nice, but why is it
That Santa passes over my house every year.
And instead of eating ham I have to eat kosher latki
Instead of Silent Night I'm singing "Hu, haghtol gavish"
And what the f*ck is up with lighting all these f*cking candles tell me please..
I'm a Jew, a lonely Jew,
I'd be merry, but I'm Hebrew
I'm a Jew, a lonely Jew,
On Christmas.

I seldom watch South Park, but I never hear this that I don't sigh at the reality of it all. Oh, and in addition to all the classical CDs I love,
I still get a kick out of:
"Momas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys,
Don't let 'em pick guitars and drive them old trucks,
Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such,
Momas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys,
They're never at home and they're always alone
Even with someone they love.

Ring of Fire

Written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore
Recorded by Johnny Cash on 3/25/63

Love Is A Burning Thing
And It Makes A Fiery Ring
Bound By Wild Desire
I Fell Into A Ring Of Fire

CHORUS:
I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

The Taste Of Love Is Sweet
When Hearts Like Ours Meet
I Fell For You Like A Child
Oh,But The Fire Went Wild

CHORUS
I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher
And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

Love Is A Burning Thing
And It Makes A Fiery Ring
Bound By Wild Desire
I Fell Into A Ring Of Fire

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down(down), Down(down), Down(down)
And The Flames Went Higher Higher Higher

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down(down), Down(down), Down(down)
And The Flames Went Higher Higher Higher

And It Burns

But every time it came to me, i was shit out of luck
Because i'd stick my d**k in, and it would get stuck
The girls would say "stop!" i'd say "i'm not!
That's enough, i quit, 'cause y'all are bustin' me out!"

I appreciate that your comment was maybe a little tongue-in-cheek (as mine was as well). But in all honesty there are two things that bother me about lyrics like that.......first of all, when you have daughters you tend to view that type of degradation in a different light. And secondly, the majority of these no-talent hacks do nothing but perpetuate a culture of crime, welfare and irresponsible behavior.

The misery I know
Like a friend that won't let go
Is creeping up on me now once again

So I sing this song tonight
To the ghost that will not die
And somehow it seems to haunt me till the end

Do you feel the same
For what was remained
Yesterday is gone, we can't go back again
Do you ever cry for the Ghost of Days Gone By

I remember summer days
We were young and unafraid
With innocence we'd glide beneath the stars

It seems so long ago
Beyond the life that I now know
Before the years would have their way and break my heart

Do you feel the same
For what was remained
Yesterday is gone, we can't go back again
Do you ever cry for the Ghost of Days Gone By

And I know it's drawing closer
With each day I feel the end
I... don't wanna die
Don't wanna die, don't wanna die

I don't wanna die

Do you feel the same
For what was remained
Yesterday is gone, we can't go back again
Do you ever cry for the days gone by
Do they haunt you like a ghost until the end
Haunt you till the end, until the end
Until the end, until the end

As much as I hated Creed, I really like Alter Bridge. It's amazing what a difference it makes putting a really good lead singer with range in with a backing band (and also allowing a virtuosic guitar player to actually play guitar solos). Myles Kennedy is an amazing talent. I know he is the lead singer that tours with Slash when Slash is performing his solo work.

Shooting on Fountain Square last night. Anyone care to guess what kind of musical act was scheduled to perform on the square last night? My wife and I seriously considered going down until we found out who was performing. It's a sad commentary when you no longer feel safe on the square. Easy solution........stop allowing the no-talent black trash access to that performance venue.

One of my favorite songs...they played it at PNC Pavilion last week...it was epic.

Steam Engine
so. I do believe. none of this is physical
at least not to me
so, I do believe
that anywhere it goes
t’s always with me
it’s not the dream
that makes you weak
it’s not the night that makes you sleep
but it’s a voice. and it’s a choice
to call you out. or stay at home
so! I do believe
none of this is physical
at least not to me
so I do believe
that anywhere it goes
it’s always with me
it’s not the beast. it’s not the sheets
so soft and warm. all over me
but it’s the touch. you need so much
to move around on this green earth
take your money and your drugs
take your money and your drugs
to anyone who wondered
what old jebus meant to me
take him out to go diving
in red patoka sea
the brain melts in the twilight
with the boar and moving trees
your skin looks good in moonlight
and god damn those shaky knees
the fact that my heart’s beating
is all the proof you need

Anyone catch the show? Even though the crowd was nothing compared to Columbus, Pitts or Louisville (obviously), these guys bring it every night. Their set list in Cincy was arguably the best of their entire tour.

Another song that I can really relate to as I get older....Cincinnati's own, The National...

Apartment Story
Be still for a second while I try and try to pin your flowers on
Can you carry my drink I have everything else
I can tie my tie all by myself
I'm getting tired, I'm forgetting why

Oh we're so disarming darling, everything we did believe
is diving diving diving diving off the balcony
Tired and wired we ruin too easy
sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave

Hold ourselves together with our arms around the stereo for hours
While it sings to itself or whatever it does
when it sings to itself of its long lost loves
I'm getting tired, I'm forgetting why

Tired and wired we ruin too easy
sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave
but I'll be with you behind the couch when they come
on a different day just like this one

We'll stay inside til somebody finds us
do whatever the TV tells us
stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz for days
We'll stay inside til somebody finds us
do whatever the TV tells us
stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz

so worry not
all things are well
we'll be alright
we have our looks and perfume

stay inside til somebody finds us
do whatever the TV tells us
stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz

so worry not
all things are well
we'll be alright
we have our looks and perfume on

Getting old and having responsibilities can suck...

Not sure how you can arrive at a conclusion of "misinformed" when I was simply stating an opinion........its commentary, conjecture, speculation on my part that the young man wouldn't have been within 1000 yards of the square had Stalley not been scheduled to perform.

I say you are misinformed because the facts of the case do not support any reason to believe that Fountain Square was ever an intended desitnation, the inividual involved was at another function while the concert was taking place, the concert was scheduled to be over already, and that fountain square just happened to be where police caught up to the individual.

But you can just go on implying that a rap concert on fountain square led to a shooting.

I very well could be misinformed as the only information I have is from newspaper accounts.......possibly you have other sources. But from what I've read the shooting occurred BEFORE the concert even started and the young man was followed from Sawyer Point to Fountain Square (not CHASED from one point to the other but FOLLOWED). Regardless, it doesn't change my original premise........if you want to turn downtown into a ghost town just schedule rap concerts on the square every night.

I watched the situation unfold from my balcony. The crowd was pushed up Broadway by the police. I don't think there necessarily was an intended destination; the mob didn't seem to be working that way. The crowd wasn't being "chased" per se, but they were not being followed either. One thing the news accounts seem to leave out is just how large the group was that moved up Broadway from the Reunion. I of course can not speak for the individual who was shot on the square. I will say that I was more than a little uneasy looking at an unruly crowd of that size less than a hundred yards from home. Bottom line? Nothing good comes from unsupervised kids with guns.

Threadjack over.

Men at Work. I still love this song.

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,

"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said,

"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said,

"Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

I have a sad story to tell you.
It may hurt your feelings a bit.
Last night when I walked in the bathroom
I stepped in a big pile of shhhhhh...

...aving cream
Be nice and clean.
Shave every day and
You'll always look keen.

I think I'll break off with my girfriend.
Her antics are strange I'll admit.
Each time that I tell her I love her
She tells me that I'm full of shhhhh...

Chorus

An old lady died in a bathtub.
She died of a terrible fit.
In order to fulfill her wishes
She was buried in six feet of shhhhh...

Chorus

A baby fell out of a window.
Her head you might think she would split.
But good luck was with her that morning
For she fell in a barrel of shhhhh...

Chorus

When I was in France with the army
One day I looked into my kit.
Expecting to find me a sandwich
The darn thing was all full of shhhhh...

Chorus

And now folks my story has ended.
It may have upset you a bit.
If any of you were offended
Stick you head in a big pile of shhhhh...

Chorus.

"Soldier's Poem" by Muse

Throw it all away
Let's lose ourselves
Cause there's no one left for us to blame
It's a shame we're all dying
And do you think you deserve your freedom

How could you send us
So far away from home
When you know damn well that this is wrong
I will still lay down my life for you

And do you think you deserve your freedom
No I don't think you do
There's no justice in the world
There's no justice in the world
And there never was

Funeral Blues

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone.
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling in the sky the message He is Dead,
Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever, I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun.
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

WH Auden

Heroes --- David Bowie

I
I will be king
And you
You will be queen
Though nothing will
Drive them away
We can beat them
Just for one day
We can be Heroes
Just for one day

And you
You can be mean
And I
I'll drink all the time
'Cause we're lovers
And that is a fact
Yes we're lovers
And that is that

Though nothing
Will keep us together
We could steal time
Just for one day
We can be Heroes
For ever and ever
What d'you say

I
I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins
Like dolphins can swim
Though nothing
Will keep us together
We can beat them
For ever and ever
Oh we can be Heroes
Just for one day

I
I will be king
And you
You will be queen
Though nothing
Will drive them away
We can be Heroes
Just for one day
We can be us
Just for one day

I
I can remember
Standing
By the wall
And the guns
Shot above our heads
And we kissed
As though nothing could fall
And the shame
Was on the other side
Oh we can beat them
For ever and ever
Then we can be Heroes
Just for one day

We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
Just for one day
We can be Heroes
We're nothing
And nothing will help us
Maybe we're lying
Then you better not stay
But we could be safer
Just for one day

And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the Navy

And the waitress is practicing politics

But it's better than drinkin' alone

Once In A Lifetime --- Talking Heads

Songwriters: Eno, Brian; Harrison, Jerry; Byrne, David; Weymouth, Tina; Frantz, Chris;

You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
You may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
You may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

And you may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"
And you may ask yourself, "Where is that large automobile?"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful house"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful wife"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was

Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Remove the water from the bottom of the ocean
Water dissolving and water removing

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Leting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful house?"
You may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"
You may ask yourself, "Am I right, am I wrong?"
You may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, look where my hand was

Time isn't holding up, time isn't after us
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, hey let's all twist our thumbs
Here comes the twister

Letting the days go by
Letting the days go by
Once in a lifetime
Let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by

When I look over my shoulder,
What do you think I see ?
Some other cat looking over
His shoulder at me
And he's strange, sure he's strange.

Last Goodbye --- Jeff Buckley

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then I'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because I didn't know you at all

Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say "No, this can't happen to me,"
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over

Fairly appropriate with all the conference shake-ups.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Clampdown --- The Clash

1-2-3-4!
Hey, hey!
Ooh!
the kingdom is ransacked
the jewels all taken back
and the chopper descends
they're hidden in the back
with a message on a half-baked tape
with the spool going round
saying im back here in this place
and i could cry
and there's smoke you could click on

What are we gonna do now?
Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
’Cos working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you!
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
To be young believers

The judge said five to ten but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?

The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy get runnin'
It's the best years of your life they want to steal

But, you grow up and you calm down and
You're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown and
You're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
You drift until you brutalize
You made your first kill now

In these days of evil presidentes
Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
For working for the clampdown
Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!
Working for the clampdown
Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!
Working for the clampdown

Yeah I’m working hard in Harrisburg
Working hard in Petersburg
Working for the clampdown
Working for the clampdown
Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong
Begging to be melted down
Gitalong, gitalong
Work
Work
And I give away no secrets – ha!
Work
More work
Work
Work

who's barmy now ?

Just Like Heaven --- The Cure

"Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it
And I promise you I promise that
I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you"

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
To make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
That I'm in love with you"

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Just like heaven

Slow down

I'll tell you when

I may never walk again

Looking through some photographs I found inside a drawer
I was taken by a photograph of you
There were one or two I know that you would have liked a little more
But they didn't show your spirit quite as true

You were turning 'round to see who was behind you
And I took your childish laughter by surprise
And at the moment that my camera happened to find you
There was just a trace of sorrow in your eyes

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised ---- Gil Scott Heron

You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John
Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by the
Schaefer Award Theatre and will not star Natalie
Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia.
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs.
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
thinner, because the revolution will not be televised, Brother.

There will be no pictures of you and Willie May
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance.
NBC will not be able predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of Whitney Young being
run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Roy
Wilkens strolling through Watts in a Red, Black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the proper occasion.

Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville
Junction will no longer be so damned relevant, and
women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock
news and no pictures of hairy armed women
liberationists and Jackie Onassis blowing her nose.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,
Francis Scott Key, nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom
Jones, Johnny Cash, Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be right back after a message
bbout a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your
bedroom, a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put you in the driver's seat.

The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.

Fight the Good Fight by Triumph, 3-man band out of Canada that killed it in the 1980s. Rik Emmett is the only guy I've seen play a double-necked 12-string guitar. Their best albums are Allied Forces and Never Surrender.

Studio recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nij9U0RAmwg

Live concert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibFv_8LuuA0

The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long
Feels like we're running out of time
Every day it seems much harder tellin' right from wrong
You got to read between the lines

Don't get discouraged, don't be afraid, we can
Make it through another day
Make it worth the price we pay

The Good Book says it's better to give than to receive
I do my best to do my part
Nothin' in my pockets I got nothin' up my sleeve
I keep my magic in my heart

Keep up your spirit, keep up your faith, baby
I am counting on you
You know what you've got to do

CHORUS:
Fight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
It's your only way

All your life you've been waiting for your chance
Where you'll fit into the plan
But you're the master of your own destiny
So give and take the best that you can

You think that a little more money can buy your soul some rest
You better think something else instead
You're so afraid of being honest with yourself
You'd better take a look inside your head

Nothing is easy, nothing good is free
But I can tell you where to start
Take a look inside your heart
There's an answer in your heart

Fight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
Make it worth the price we pay

Every moment of your lifetime
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
Make it worth the price we pay

Scenario --- A Tribe Called Quest

Here we go yo, here we go yo
So what so what so what's the scenario
Here we go yo, here we go yo
So what so what so what's the scenario

Verse One: Phife Dawg

Aiyyo Bo knows this (what?) and Bo knows that (what?)
But Bo don't know jack, cause Bo can't rap
Well whaddya know? the Di-Dawg is first up to bat
No batteries included, and no strings attached
No holds barred, no time for move fakin
Gots to get the loot so I can bring home the bacon
Brothers front, they say the Tribe can't flow
But we've been known to do the impossible like Broadway Joe so
Sleep if you want, my crew will help you get your Z's troop
But here's the real scoop
I'm all that and then some, short dark and handsome
Bust a nut inside your eye, to show you where I come from
I'm vexed, fumin, I've had it up to here
My days of payin dues are over, acknowledge we is in there(YEAH)
Head for the border, go get a taco
I'll be wreckin from the jump street, meaning from the get-go
Sit back relax and let yourself go
Don't sweat what you heard, and act like you know

Verse Two: Charlie Brown

Yes yes y'all (yes y'all!)
who got the vibe it's the Tribe y'all (Tribe y'all!)
real live y'all (live y'all!)
Inside outside come around... (who's that??) Browwwwwwwwn
Some may, I say, call me Charlie
The word is the herb and I'm deep like Bob Marley
Layback on the payback, [evolve rotate the gates?] CONTACT!
Can I get a hit? (HIT!)
Boom Bip with a brother named Tip and we're ready to flip
East coast stompin, rippin and rompin
New York, North Cak-a-laka, and Compton
Checka-checka-check it out!
The loops for the troops, more bounce to the ounce
And wow how now wow how now Brown cow
We're ill till the skill gets down
For the flex, next, it's the textbook old to the new
but the rest are doo-doo
From radio, to the video, to Arsenio
Tell me! Yo, what's the scenario

Verse Three: Dinco D

(True blue!) Scooby Doo, whoopie doo
Scenario's ready yo, rates more than four
Scores for the snores that smother dancefloors
Now I go for mine, shave the seashore
Ship-shape crushed Grapes Apes that play tapes
Papes make drakes baked for the wakes
of an L-ah, An E-ah, simply just a leader
bass in his face means peace see ya later
Later? (LATER!) Later alligator
Pop goes the weasel and the herb's the inflater
So yo the D what the O, incorporated I-N-C into a flow
Funk flipped flat back first fist foul fight fight fight
Laugh yo how's that sound (ohhhhhh!)

Verse Four: Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes

It’s a Leader Quest mission and we got the goods here(here!)
Never on the left cause my right's my good ear (ear!)
I could give a damn about a ill subliminal
Stay away from crime SO I ain't no CRIMINAL <----
I love my young nation, groovy sensation
No time for hibernation, only elation
Don't ever try to test the water little kid
Yo Mr. Busta Rhymes, tell him what I did

I heard you rushed and rushed, AND ATTACKED
Then they rebuked and you had TO SMACK
Causin rambunction, throughout the sphere
Raise the levels of the boom, inside the ear

You know I did it
So don't violate or you get violated
The hip-hop sound is well agitated
Won't ever waste no time on the played out ego
So here's Busta Rhymes with the, Scenario

Verse Five: Busta Rhymes

Watch, as I combine all the juice from the mind
Heel up, wheel up, bring it back, come rewind
Powerful impact BOOM! from the cannon
Not braggin, try to read my mind just imagine
Vo-cab-u-lary's necessary
When diggin into my library
Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!
Eating ITAL stew like the one Peter Tosh-a
UH uh UH, all over the track, man
UH, pardon me, UH, as I come back
As I did it yo I had to beg your pardon
When I travel to the Sun I roll with the squadron
RRRRRROAW RRRRRRROAW like a dungeon dragon
Change your little drawers cause your pants are saggin
Try to step to this, I will twist you in a turban
And have u smelling rank, like some old stale urine
Chickity-choco, the chocolate chicken
The rear cockdiesel but chicks they were kicking
Yo, bustin out before the Busta bust a nut the rhyme
the rhythm is in sync (UHH!) the rhymes are on time (TIME!)
Rippin up the sound just like a radio
Observe the rhyme and check out the scenario!!
*chorus starts* Yeah, my man motherfucker!

Morphine - "Cure for Pain"

Where is the ritual
And tell me where where is the taste
Where is the sacrifice
And tell me where where is the faith
Someday there'll be a cure for pain
That's the day I throw my drugs away
When they find a cure for pain
Where is the cave
Where the wise woman went
And tell me where
Where's all that money that I spent
I propose a toast to my self control
You see it crawling helpless on the floor
Someday there'll be a cure for pain
That's the day I throw my drugs away
When they find a cure for pain (x2)
When they find a cure find a cure for pain

This is one of the best songs ever recorded..............Chilling and powerful.

Last Goodbye --- Jeff Buckley

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then I'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because I didn't know you at all

Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say "No, this can't happen to me,"
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over
