I'm more of a UC fan than X, but I do root for them (and go to games) when they aren't playing the boys across town. But I got one question......do X fans root for the UC football team or not at all??

Big game the other night for the bearcats. Vaughn was lights out and McClain is looking better game-by-game.

I was a casual observer last season. I caught myself wishing them well in a couple games though. I enjoy talking college football, and UC gives people in this town a reason to talk it. In that regard, I hope they continue to succeed.

SB, I'm a huge UC football fan and attend games. Brian Kelly knows what he is doing. There was definitely an electric feel to the West Virgina game.

Cats play Nova tonight. Big game for both teams.

Big win for UC tonight against a ranked Villanova squad. That could turn out to be a decent win for X before it's all said and done.

I cannot believe they won that game. It's good for X though, so I'm cool with it.

The more they taste success the more Mick will morph into Huggs. BTW, did you see that kid they're harboring at Harmony?

I'd like to feel OK about Cronin, but then I remember he studied under Huggins and Pitino. That's like expecting a guy who studied under Hitler and Mussolini to cure cancer. Probably won't happen. In fact, that guy probably drives a cancer bus with a Hemi.

Oh well, go UC. Makes our win look even better, and also takes a bit of the sting out of the ASU loss b/c we had them on the road after a gritty performance against UC.

The Cats could make the tournament with a top 3 finish in the Big East.

I root for UC football because of Kerry Coombs and the Colerain kids that are on the team now. I graduated from WVU, but, 2 of my kids went to UC.

It's a shame X doesn't have a football team anymore.

I disagree. I like the single-minded focus on basketball. I prefer to root for student athletes and I suspect we get a better crop of those through basketball, not because I believe football players to be inherently unintelligent, but because getting your head and body slammed on a regular basis seems like it would inhibit the intake of facts. And I can't imagine have the coach and programs we do in basketball if we were shelling out money for football.

Most importanly for me, I'm terrible with names. I can barely keep the guys on the basketball team straight. I'd be lost if I had to follow football.

The cats are the benefactor of the scheduling in the big east. they were able to play their first 4 games at home, and with the confidence they built in in the past 4 games, they could have a decent big east season. i don't think this is the case if they have a couple away games over the past couple weeks.

If I said no would ya believe me?

We all know that Stonebreaker was a fine LB for Notre Dame. That's linebacker for the X folks who don't follow gridiron stuff.

Mike Mickens is staying at UC for a final year. Good news for Cats fans that the cb is returning. That guy is tough.

Heh heh. I almost forgot. You have met my wife. I've tried to block that day out of my memory for reasons not related to meeting you and the Mrs.

Yeah, I remember Michael Stonebreaker being a LB on Notre Dame's last national title team, but their last championship was so long ago that everyone on that team will soon be eligible for Social Security.

As for Air Force, is there any service academy that the Irish beat last year?

This would be the UC thread, the smack down thread is elsewhere.

Notre Dame is off limits in any thread. :P

I watched pretty much all of UC's games prior to the Shootout. If they would have played their early schedule with the intensity that they showed against X they'd be in great shape right now. That made their record more pathetic, that it was mostly the product of a lack of effort and intensity. If they fall back to their lazy ways they'll get smoked again, but if they play balls out all the time they are a tough team to beat. They'll be whatever they want to be I guess.

I just want to make sure that the Polish Bearcats get as much love as the Irish Bearcats. That is all.

UC beats its former coach in Morgantown. What's worse if you're WVU........shooting 20%, or having your coach wear this?

Is it me or is there something creepy about that dress? It looks like it was made out of a can of silly string on steroids.

UC has cracked the top 100 in the RPI at #89 (10-12). They were #112 (9-11) as of Sun. 1/27. Their SOS is now #3, was #10.

It's good for Cincinnati to have two competitive teams. I luv it.
