Is it me or has this been a very boring playoff season so far. Dull, Dull games.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that football has only 11 minutes of actual action in the entire game: link (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704281204575002852055561406.html)

No, that has nothing to do with it. They have for the most part been blowouts, Eagles blown out, Patriots blown out, Bengals lose by double digits, Cowboys blown out, Ravens blown out, Cardinals blown out.

That equals one close game, last week. The game on now is close so I guess that is two now.

I think Saints Vikings should be pretty good, and if the Chargers win I would expect a good game next week against the Colts.

I live in Indy so I am a Colts fan. I lterallly could not stay awake for the 2nd half of that game. It was one of the dullest Colts game of the season other than the ones they gave away.

The game on now is getting real good. I hate Phillip Rivers. I am loving that the Jets are up 10 now with only 7mins left. The Chargers are constantly choking in the playoffs.

Jets are living a charmed playoff life. Graham missing two easy last week and now Keading missing three easy this week.

and their last two regular season games were against Indy and Cincinnati who did not really try to beat them which allowed them into the playoffs.

Yeah they are certainly getting some breaks. I didnt think they had much of a chance in this game.

Not that they aren't charmed, but one of Keading's was from 57 yards out at the end of the half, wasn't it?

Yeah, would have been a tie for a career long.

I agreed with Simms though, who observed that Kaeding looked noncommittal and hesitant on all three kicks.

Anyone who believes that there is only 11 minutes of action in a football game does not understand football. Also, I want to know what four games they watched that only featured an average of three seconds of cheerleader time each.

Fox does the best job of covering the cheerleader action. At least in the BCS games. But there is a lot of room for improvement in this area for all the networks.

Yeah Colts. Manning was great today, as was Garcon, Collies, and the uderrated D.

The Vikings Saints game is turning out to be a tit for tat game so far, including tunovers.

The Jets appear to be poised to become one of the better teams in the NFL over the next few years. Sanchez played really well as a rook in a conference championship game, and will only get better.

Wait- Is Brett Favre playing? I haven't heard anything about him.

I really, really like Brett Favre, but even I am kind of hoping he loses today, because if not, all we're going to hear for 2 weeks is Brett Favre.

Before the season I swore I wouldn't watch a minute of Favre football, because like a spoiled child all he wants is attention. Not from me, not that he cares. Still, if he makes the Super Bowl, maybe I'll read a book instead.

Five turnovers by the Vikings. The Bengals never get lucky like the Saints did tonight.

I don't think the refs wanted Brett Favre in the super bowl either. Every call on that final drive went the saints way.

Brett Favre throws another int towards the end of the game in an NFC championship game and loses on a FG in OT again.

Hopefully Favre retires then his last throws ever as a Packer and Viking could be interceptions at the end of the game in the NFC championship game.

We'll hear about B---- F---- regardless of whether or not he's in the Super Bowl. Now we'll be subject to beginning his "retirement" cycle again.

Note to the mods - can we just censor his name along with other magic 4-letter words?

The "brady rule" is not what that writer describes. It has always been illegal to hit a quarterback at the knees unless you are blocked. Prior to the Brady rule (really more of a clarification), if you were blocked and went down, you pretty much had a license to hit whereever you wanted, even if you were beyond the influence of the block.

See comments from this (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2009/03/24/brady_rule_steps_taken_to_protect_qbs_knees/) article.

The clarification specifically prohibits a defender on the ground who hasn't been blocked or fouled directly into the quarterback from lunging or diving at the quarterback's lower legs.

From Jeff Fischer, who was co-chair of the Compitition Committee that adopted the "Briady rule"

It's a player that's down and then he does that second act where he's getting up and intentionally rolling into the quarterback, or where he's getting up and he lunges at his legs," Fisher said. "We've got a lot of shots where guys have gone down, crawled, and swiped. We don't feel like that's potentially as injurious to the quarterback than the hit where the shoulder comes down to the knee or the planted leg

I can't locate a replay of the hit, but my recollection is that McCray was blocked, and never went to the ground. At that point, it becomes a judgment call on the ref's part if he was blocked in a way that caused him to go low.

I think there could have been a flag on that play. I thought it myself when I saw it live, then on replay, saw the block that may have led the official not to throw the flag. IMO, it wasn't a "low moment" or "inexcusable" as Clark would have us believe, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't really understand the Brady rule.

Clark:

Granted, Brady was hit from the front and Favre from behind, but that's the only difference.

No, Brady was hit by a guy getting up off the ground, and Favre was hit by a guy going to the ground. If you're going to cite the Brady rule, that is a 100% difference.
