Mitch McGary 6'9 PF from Chesterton, Indiana

Originally was thought of as a lock for Purdue until they ran out of scholarships for him. I believe he was at the LSU game.

Agile big man with good touch around the basket. He has a solid mid-range jumper and can handle the ball a little bit but probably don't want him to be your point guard :)

This would be a steal for Xavier, as McGary reclassified to 2012 and now attends the nationally prominent Brewster Academy.

and it looks like he has worked on his 3 pointer!
also now listed at 6'10 245 or something along that line. plays like a SF though
while this highlight isnt just for mcgary you get to see 2 nice dunks, a nice outlet, a block, and 3 threes.
should be a top 50 recruit for 2012...for sure. size speed and skills are there..i would just like to see him be more aware of his size and stop trying to play guard as frequently as he does.

How serious are we about this guy? Do we have a good shot at him?

Not to be braggadocios or anything of that nature but Mitch and I are pretty good friends. Last season he was Chesterton's starting center, and I was Michigan City's (both schools in NW Indiana). And while when he left to play for Brewster, Purdue was the clear favorite, since he has been there he has picked up more offers and I think that being away from home has really taken away Purdue's allure of being so close to home for him (meaning he won't mind going out of state). This is not to say I know where he is going or anything of that matter, but I don't think it would be a stretch to say his recruiting has opened back up since he transferred, and with the nice class of Indiana recruits X has coming in, I think it would be best to strike while the iron is hot and lure over this "if Cody Zeller was mean/bigger and played more like a guard" type of player. Definitley is being overlooked currently. Also, if you do some researching (i.e. Google) you will find that Brewsters starting 5 are signed to major D-1 schools (something like that , it may only be 4). But, each of the schools are major programs, so if Mitch is getting 21 and 13 on that team (coming off of the bench as a junior) I can only imagine what he has in store for next year. his frame is simply remarkable as well.

Mutual interest between McGary and X according to mitch himself and a source.

Check out Mitch's highlight tape from last year

The kid has a decent handle for a big man.

Wow...This kid has some serious potential. Great motor, athletic, aggressive, smooth shot, solid handles for a 6'11 guy

Solid find Hoopside

He's turned into a top 5 prospect in the class. Pretty much anyone would take him. Just a gut feeling, but he seems like the kind of player that ends up at Duke to me.

No, I'm saying that because he's white and good at basketball.

I got you. So if he was white and not good at basketball he'd be playing at Dayton. :D
