Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Cintas Center,
Not a creature was stirring, because they were xavierhoops.com members.
The beer was in their fridge, stocked with care,
In hopes that someday, the stupid refs would actually be fair.
Xavier’s team were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Chris Mack’s shiny bald head.
And Fred Garvin in his lucky pink OSU cap,
Had just posted again, making Khan’s Krazy snap.
When out on the bus there arose such a clatter,
It seems Nuts choked on Jell-O shots, if that mattered.
Away to my camera I flew like Sato,
None of us saved Nuts, laughing so hard and a little blotto.
The moon on Xavier’s campus of the new-fallen snow,
Made us realize, none of us could get in now, we all know.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
Snipe - in full Snuggy regalia - drinking many, many beers.
With a quick minded post, so lively and quick,
We knew his devious mind lived to make Chuggins sick.
More rapid and snarky his rants became,
Driving all UC fans insane!
"Now Love! Now Frease! Now Lyons, and Crawford!
On, Jackson! On, Teen Wolf! On McLean and Redford!
To the top of the key! To the top of the post!
Please make your free throws! Or we will be toast!
As empty beer cans and left over popcorn sully the stadium’s floor,
Our posters race to reach Dana’s door.
Telling everyone how the team played,
Loudly wishing a pox on Sean Miller and that D. Brown stayed.
And then, while tinkling, I heard in the bathroom,
Xeus explaining to everyone how XU is “going to the moon.”
BJ then poured my Guinness with care,
Savoring the beer, I began to stare.
Fr. Graham came in, smiling from his head to his foot,
Dayton hater PM Thor shook off his soot.
The big man clucked his tongue,
And laughed at these marvelous idiots having too much fun.
His eyes-how they twinkled! His demeanor so merry!
The future of XU in his hands, yet he is never wary!
He said “let’s build some more buildings, and welcome more students,”
Xavier is always in demand, we must be prudent.”
Xavier is a special place, we do things in a particular way,
Be fair, be just, don’t just live for today.
We love our friends and our school, we freely decree,
The Xavier Nation is truly one big family!
We love to laugh, talk XU hoops, and miss our friends,
Fr. Hoff, Skip, Pablo, et al showed us the trend.
Give it your best, leave nothing on the floor,
Serve God, yet party like the Vikings of yore!
Though we are not, Fr. B calls us all saints,
We are true fans, ungrateful we ain’t.
Two Elite 8’s, sweet 16’s, our team is simply the best,
It is the “Xavier way,” just ask David Freakin’ West!
At this time of year, I have one small request,
Remember your friends and family, for you are truly blessed.
Think of Xavier as you turn out your light,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
