Chad's lastest fine

$20,000 for a joke. Really? Ray Lewis got fined $25k for nearly taking Chad's head off. Thus the moniker No Fun League. Goddell should have laughed it off.

I am with you DC. Not an Ochocinco fan per se, but you have to laugh at some of the stunts he pulls. I thought him trying to give the official a buck was just him having fun and I got a kick out of it. I also think that the 20K fine was over the top. That said, the NFL is looking at the NBA ref getting out of prison after serving 15 months for point shaving. So though the NFL to me is generally the No Fun League, they had to do something with this in mind.

The odd thing about this story is that the NFL stated that they fined Chad for trying to bribe the official. If memory serves, I don't think that's how it went down. I think Chad bet the ref a dollar that he was in bounds. When he was ruled out, he had his dollar ready. So instead of fining him for attempted gambling, they said he tried to bribe the official. How could he bribe an official on the field when the replay booth was reviewing the play anyway?

The NFL has such a huge stick up their asses about gambling...I'm not sure why they went with the bribe angle...am I wrong here? I thought he bet the ref a dollar he was in bounds for the catch.
