I would like to say thanks to Monica, US Navy, and Brandon, US Air Force. Mom is very proud of you guys.
My dad still shoots awake at night at the age of 82. His dreams of storming beaches in the South Pacific at the age of 17 seem very real. I can't imagine what it was like. I had trouble getting up courage to ask certain girls out for dates at 17.

Happy Veteran's Day to my Dad!
On a related note, Shannon Russell had this posted on her Enquirer blog:
In celebration of Veterans Day and to show appreciation to the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces, Xavier Athletics would like to invite all veterans and active military to attend the Xavier men's basketball home opener on Friday, Nov. 13 against Youngstown State. Xavier Athletics will provide two free admissions to this Friday's game at Cintas Center to all active and inactive members of the U.S. Armed Forces and all Veterans. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Cintas Center.
Military personnel will receive two free admissions to Friday's game by presenting a government issued Military ID or evidence of military service at the Cintas Center Ticket Office. Tickets can be secured in advance or on game day if there are still tickets available.
Veterans Day and honoring the sacrifices of the veterans is something that is personal to first-year Xavier head coach Chris Mack. "We should remember every day the commitment and sacrifices made by the men and women who currently serve or served our country," said Mack, whose younger brother Tim just returned from Iraq where he served as a member of the U.S. Navy.
For more information, call the Cintas Center Ticket Office at (513) 745-3411 extension 7.

A moment of prayer and reverent thought for all who walked through St Barbara Hall before and after me, especially those who gave their lives for our country. I'm proud to be an alumni of the Xavier University ROTC department .

There's no way this (http://www.history.com/content/wwii-in-hd)will do it justice, but I can't wait to see it. What an amazing generation - sorry GuyFawkes.

Has anyone seen the movie "Taking Chance"?
I watched it last night. It's about a Marine Officer who decides to escort the remains of another fallen Marine to his final home. It's very powerful and a must see.
Shows the honor and respect shown to fallen soldiers as they are brought home to their final resting place.

Taking Chance was top notch. Understated and powerful.
