It is the 20th anniversary of the Berlin wall coming down. It doesn't matter how you roll politically, you have to consider that one of the most important events in modern history. I remember the wall coming down and each of the Eastern bloc countries falling one-by-one. The uprising in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Yeltzin standing on a tank taking on the Russian military among others. The time that all of this took place was a watershed point in the history of mankind. So, I just wanted to note it for that reason.

Those were historic times. It seemed like every week you would read or hear about some communist government being overthrown.

Is it really necessary for the Germans to invite David Hasselhoff to sing again at the wall for the anniversary?

Is it really necessary for U2 to play a free show remembering the fall of the Wall? Only to construct a 12-foot tall wall around the concert to keep out those who did not get tickets to the free show.
No, but for some idiotic reason, shit happens.

Can they keep him away fron the German Beer that long? I have a piece of the wall, found out it was worth nothing on Pawn Stars.

Western democracy overcoming Communism (while nicely avoiding thermonuclear war) stands as a pillar in the advancement of human civilization.
Thank you Karol Wojtyla and Ronald Reagan.

Good thing Reagan didn't listen to those on the left who advocated unilateral disarmament.

Thank you Karol Wojtyla and Ronald Reagan.
Don't forget Madam Thatcher and Pope John Paul II. What a convergence of great leadership. Sigh, not so much now :o
Ok, I'll give Gorbie some credit as well for seeing the writing on the wall.

Some of my most treasured items in my possession are pieces of that wall obtained shortly after the fall. I'll never forget that time.
