How about are Cats? 8-0 means we're purrrrfect. Kelly's Heroes can't be stopped. The city is rallying around this team. We're really cat-chin' on. Collaros will prove to be better than Greg Cook.

We get any higher we'll need Thor to get us out of a tree.

I await Runner's caterwauling.

Actually Fred, you must realize that based on BCS numbers, even if UC beat Syracuse by a ton, they would still drop in the rankings? I'm not saying that's fair, but it's the BCS beast apparently. The way UC is going, they are going to expose the BCS for the travishamockery that it is...

And you know how Firefighters get cats out of trees now? We hit them with a 1 3/4 inch line at 120 PSI. It most definitely gets a cat out of a tree. Plus it's fun to see kitty flip head over tails too.

I HATE dayton.

Iowa was lucky to escape Indiana yesterday, and they'll have one more hurdle at Ohio State in a couple of weeks. At least all of the UC fans can get on aOSU's bandwagon for one game.

I'm still going to stand on what I said earlier - UC probably splits between West Virginia and Pitt, although it's appearing more and more likely that the UC-Pitt game will be nationally broadcast on ABC/ESPN and decide who gets the BCS bid. WV shot themselves in the foot with their loss at South Florida.

Collaros is a hell of a backup quarterback. A bobbled snap on a field goal attempt turns into a touchdown. The Pitt and WV games should be good games.

I don't see enough of the other teams stumbling to let UC make a case for the NC game, but there's still some football to be played.

Thor, I think the fact that a team can drop in the BCS even with a win is fine. The BCS isn't a travishamockery.

Replacing Pike doesn't seem like it is going to be a problem. What about replacing Mardy Gilyard though? That kid can play.

UC still faces some tough contests. It would be great if they can beat West Virginia and the other teams on the schedule and head into the season finale in Pittsburgh undefeated and with the title on the line. I hope that Pitt doesn't lose until then either. They could be top 10.

That game could be for the undefeated season, the Big East Title and a BCS bowl bid for UC. That would be exciting to watch. I also think a game of that profile could nudge them past other undefeated teams like Boise St. and TCU in the polls. I also think tOSU will take care of Iowa who's luck is about to run out.

I think UC could finish as high as #2. I think whoever comes out of the SEC Championship game will be #1, and Texas will be #2 and that is your national championship game. I think UC could rise to #3, and with a bowl victory could end up undefeated and #2 in the Final Poll.

Of course they need to win all of the games. It puts the cart before the house but that is the nature of college football speculation.

I also have no idea how bowl games are assigned. If UC wins out and ends up #3 or #4, will they be playing the other #3 or #4 team? I have no idea. If anyone has knowledge about such things, I would like to hear it.

It will get convoluted. Rose would be Oregon vs. Iowa or Ohio State. The Orange Bowl is stuck with whatever terrible team the ACC provides. The Sugar Bowl and Fiesta would get early picks to replace their SEC and Big XII reps. Neither would choose UC with the first pick. Sugar will probably want the Florida/Bama loser. Fiesta? USC? Notre Dame (if 10-2)? Not sure what the order is after that for picking, but Big East champ/Boise/TCU/Penn State will all be in the mix. Maybe Oregon vs. Ohio State, Georgia Tech vs. Penn State, UC vs. Bama/Florida loser and USC vs. TCU or Boise?

Thanks for the breakdown. That seems reasonable. I guess it would probably be of great benefit to play the Bama/Florida loser if you want to finish #2. A win over a TCU or a Boise would be discounted. A win over Bama or Florida could not be ignored. Not that it will happen, just doing the hot stove thing.

I can't wait for UC to get thumped again in a BCS bowl game.

They actually rose three spots in the BCS rankings. They need the coaches poll to start giving them some love...how they are still down at #7 in that one but up to #4 in the AP makes no sense.

yeah they should be down to at least 7 in both. Only played one ranked team who is clearly not ranked anymore (South Florida) and they will only play one other (Pittsburgh). What a joke. UC sucks and is gonna get smacked in their bowl game, which is hopefully not a BCS game.

Oregon State was ranked when UC went there and beat them.

Oh yeah I forgot, another team that was ranked that is not anymore. That makes 2. And at the end of the year they will hope Pittsburgh ends up being ranked. Congratulations Bearkittens. You deserve maybe a Citrus Bowl. Heres to West Virginia, Connecticut, Pittsburgh or all three to crushing the kittens.
