Thursday Night Football - North Carolina continues its season of misery tonight with a loss at VaTech. Like me, UNC fans think basketball cannot get started soon enough.

Cincy visits Syracuse to see how they will do against the human interception machine, Greg Paulus. Anything short of 6 picks will be disappointing. Will Pike return? Who knows? Who cares? Cincy can win this game with Fred Garvin playing QB.

Ohio State is playing the dumb game of the week. Who plays New Mexico State anyway? NMSU is averaging 250 yards per game in the offense happy WAC. I doubt they will do nearly that well against the Buckeyes.

1 and 6 Washington State visits Notre Dame. ND should go for 50 plus.

USC at Oregon is an attractive game this weekend. The loser will have 2 losses and will very likely be out of the running for a BCS slot. If Oregon wins, the national grumbling will officially begin because Oregon will likely pass BSU in the BCS standings. If something like this helps generate a real play-off, it is worth it.

Texas goes to Oklahoma State this weekend. Without Dez Bryant, I don't think the Cowboys have much of a chance. Don't blame Bryant though. Blame Mike Gundy. He's 40. He's a man. He can handle it.

TCU and Boise State will cruise to big wins this weekend, and no one will be impressed.

Nothing much going on in the SEC. The Ole Ball Coach does battle with Lane Kiffin this weekend. Kiffin crawls out of the SEC doghouse long enough to have Spurrier tossing his visor on the ground. After the game, Kiffin thanks the refs for not stealing this game from him, and he gets suspended by Mike Slive for 2 weeks.

Sir, you are showing your Mississippi regional bigotry. We have the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party down here this weekend. Sure, GA is a heavy underdog, but it's FL / GA so anything goes. In reality, I could give 3 sh!ts about the game, because the parties down here are fantastic.

Another thing to make college football very peculiar:

Virginia Tech is one of the most maddening teams in CFB...

UGA is 15 point under-DAWG. It has been a while since we had that kind of spread in this game. Wish I could be there. Saw that it is 83 today. It is warm here, but very rainy.

I am hoping for a good game, but I get the feeling that UF is getting ready to get serious about their run to another title. UF is at full strength this week on D, which is going to be bad for UGA's O.

Tim Tebow broke Herschel Walker's touchdown record @ 50. That's Amazing!!

When Walker played, there wasn't an SECCG, and bowl game stats didn't count. By my count, Walker had 49 TD's in 33 games in 3 years (didn't play his senior year), and Tebow has now had 51 TD's in 48 games. Quite a feat, but Walker was a man among boys.

Agreed. I think Meyer pads Tebow's stats a tad by calling for the QB draw quite often in goal line situations. Walker was really something to be behold when he was a Bulldog with how he could take it to the end zone.

I would disagree with the "padding" since everyone in the stadium and watching on TV knows that play is coming. If you remember, they used to bring him in off the bench just to run and they couldn't stop him. No question Herschel was a better running back with the fire hydrant thighs, but still quite an accomplishment for a QB.

So, do the Idaho senators begin hearings into the BCS after Oregon jumps Boise today?

Another way to pad stats is the new overtime rule. Not only do they play more games nowdays, but if one goes to overtime you can add more touchdowns and pad those stats. There have been 395 overtime games since they started playing to the death. I rememeber a Louisville-West Virginia game that got tied at the end of regulation at 24. The final score was 46-44. You had six touchdowns in overtime. That was as many as in the entire game.

I would have hated to have the under on that game. One minute it is 24-7, then after an incredible comeback and onside kick, the final score ends up being 46-44. I love the overtime rule, but that makes an impact on comparing statistics. I wonder what the record for overtime scoring is.

That's a great point, but allow me to add to it: Meyer pads Tebow's stats by playing Northeastern Southwestern Central Junior Technical State Academy in game one of every year and Southwestern Northeastern...........well, you get the point.

I heard this morning that Walker had 5 bowl game TDs, so his number should be 54 in 36 games and not 49. Oh well...

As for Idaho senators, they might as well get the hearings going. Boise State and TCU are both good teams, and both deserve to be in one of the BCS Bowls. I would love to see either one of them playing the Bama/Florida loser in the Sugar Bowl.

If things hold up, the quality of this year's BCS bowl games should be improved over last years.

Other than the fact that someone from the ACC has to play. That ruins one of the games.

I'm thinking they'll be crappy games other than the title game.

Oregon vs Iowa/Ohio State? The Buckeyes with their defense may hold Oregon under 30 and keep it interesting. Iowa would get drilled.

USC vs Cincy/Pitt/TCU/Boise in the Fiesta? Blowout.

Bama/Florida vs Penn State/ND? Blowout either way vs ND. Bama/Penn State would be close but ugly. Florida/Penn State would be a blowout.

ACC champ vs BE champ/TCU/Boise? Just ugly.

Why are you so certain USC will get blown out?

Go, I think GaTech will be 12-1 and playing in the Orange Bowl. I am betting they match up with an undefeated TCU/UC/BSU. That is a huge improvement over the Orange Bowl from last year. GaTech will give up points, but they have some serious offense.

GaTech would be okay if they stay undefeated the rest of the way. Anyone else would be atrocious.
