Lottery hoax causes riot at Ohio coat store (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091015/D9BB7CGG1.html)
A woman being driven around in a rented limousine pulled up at a coat store and announced she'd won the lottery and would pay for everyone's purchases, police said, but she ended up causing a riot when customers realized it was a hoax.
Angry customers threw merchandise around and looted, leaving the store looking as though a hurricane had passed through it, police said.
Linda Brown was arrested Tuesday after an hours-long shopping spree that began when she hired a stretch Hummer limousine to drop her off at a Burlington Coat Factory store, police Sgt. Lt. Michael Deakins said. Brown walked to a cash register and loudly announced she had won the lottery and would pay for each person's merchandise up to $500, he said.
"Well, of course, people like to hear that," Deakins said. "Apparently they were in line calling relatives who were not at the store and told them to come."
People flooded the registers as cashiers began ringing up purchase after purchase, but Brown had not yet paid the bill, Deakins said. At least 500 people filled the aisles and another 1,000 were outside trying to get in, he said.
And then suddenly the worm turns...
By the time employees realized Brown didn't have any cash to pay, police said, she already had taken off in the limo.
That's when angry customers, realizing they weren't getting free coats, began throwing merchandise on the floor and grabbing clothes without paying for them, Nace said.
"Everybody was like, 'I still want my free stuff,' and that started the riot," he said. "It looks like (Hurricane) Katrina went through the store."
1,500 people showed up to get free stuff. When they didn't get it, they trashed the store. It is Katrina all over again! How would you like to own that store. Hudreds of people show up. They want your stuff for free. When they don't get it they riot and loot.
I wonder what political party they voted for. On second thought, no I don't.

Back to the original post though, the ides itself is a bit amusing, and I admire the renting of the stretch hummer to pull the whole thing off. That is commitment to the prank.
Actually, now that I read the whole story, I think the woman might be loony tunes:
About an hour later, Brown had the limousine driver take her to a bank to withdraw money, but she returned empty-handed, police Detective Steven Nace said. By then, store employees had called in two dozen police officers to handle the crowds.
I think it's possible she had actually thought she had won some money.

Don't understand why anybody listens to these morons, yeah, both sides. They know they'll make millions more every time they say something controversial. They strive on "stirring the pot". Same with Abernathy and Jesse. Anything to get attention and more money for themselves. What have any of these people actually done for their country? Nothing. They're con artists.

I think she is a batshyt crazy mofo. You can put that one in the books.
Imagine working there. They had to call dozens of police in to handle the crowds. 1,500 people? It surprises me that many people could have gotten off of work.
Imagine the entitlement mentality of those people loading up their carts and waiting for her to come back with cash. They called their relatives who came down and loaded up carts as well. They must all have flex time on their jobs. And then the worm turns. I can imagine the arguments of people. They just spent their precious time loading up their carts and waiting. They probably demanded satisfaction! "Everybody was like, 'I still want my free stuff,' and that started the riot," he said. "It looks like (Hurricane) Katrina went through the store."
How does a riot start with that? "I want my free stuff". I deserve it. Yeah you do, and I do too. Lets take all of this stuff anyway and trash the place. The entitlement mentality is so inbred in some people it amazes me. I am sure that some of those people thought not only that they were right, but that the store deserved it.
I wonder what the damages will amount to for the store owner. They lose a day of business and product gets stolen and trashed. And people are somehow angry at them. And who wants to shop at a place where 1,500 people show up and some of them start looting and rioting? I am sure that is a family atmosphere.

The source or the subject matter? Snipe has posted more anti-republican rants than a vast majority of people on the board. You must mean consider the subject matter.
I think you read that, made some judgments about the people involved, then proved Snipe's point for him.
Interjecting politics where it has no place...
Uh.... what now? Who gets to decide what place politics has? It's not like Snipe hijacked a thread or anything.

I like how all of these morons could not discern between who promised them the free stuff and Burlington gets effed in the end. Awesome stuff from these idiots.

Were you meaning to respond to the Rush/NFL thread instead? If so I would agree the NFL was interjecting politics where it has no place.
Uh.... what now? Who gets to decide what place politics has? It's not like Snipe hijacked a thread or anything.
Apparently my own threads are not an appropriate place to express my views. I don't think Thor is for my freedom of expression.

Shit, screw party affiliation. I showed up early hoping to replace the 25 year old rain coat I bought at Forest Fair Mall. Instead I get scammed! I m-f'd her from the front door of Burlington Coat to the Paddy wagon door. The cop told me to shut my pie hole or that he'd stick me back there for the ride. I said fine that'll give me more time to cuss her out for wasting my time. I was more pissed at myself when hearing that this crank has pulled this stunt before. I am such an idiot!

You have to wonder what these same people do when Obama runs out of his funny money. More rioting and looting are on the horizon I suppose.
Tens of thousands of people in Detroit lined up for "Obama Money". Fights broke out and it was a near riot. Some funny audio of people in line can be found here (http://www.pocketfives.com/poker-forums/13/thousands-line-up-for-obama-cash-in-detroit-lol-4763519). It is no secret who they voted for Thor, they were chanting Obama's name. "That is why we elected him!"
ROGULSKI: Why are you here?
WOMAN #1: To get some money.
ROGULSKI: What kind of money?
WOMAN #1: Obama money.
ROGULSKI: Where's it coming from?
WOMAN #1: Obama.
ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get it?
WOMAN #1: I don't know, his stash. I don't know. (laughter) I don't know where he got it from, but he givin' it to us, to help us.
WOMAN #2: And we love him.
WOMAN #1: We love him. That's why we voted for him!
WOMEN: (chanting) Obama! Obama! Obama! (laughing)
I am surprised that nobody called the reporter racist.
The entitlement mentality on show in Detroit is impressive. Democrats and Unions have run that town for how long? Right into the ground. 50% of the people are functionally illiterate.
What are these people going to do if the dollar collapses and they can't get government checks?

Whatever. A riot, and it gets twisted into a political commentary, based on nothing. Typical Snipe ramblings. I have more important things to concern myself with today. Carry on.

I wouldn't say it is based upon nothing. Those people in Detroit were pretty specific that they were in line for "Obama Money". Those weren't my words.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. By all means next time try to stay off the thread altogether.

While I think it's this statement is a little far fetched, I had to laugh, since this board is dominated with republicans.
Remember I count myself as one.

Not too many anti-GOP rants around here. Lord knows there are hardly ever any anti-republicans threads. Maybe Snipe, who is a regiestered Democrat is just coming out of his shell.
But still a pretty funny line. Reps to you.

I also like how a story about a batshit crazy woman who was able to rent a stretch limo, and get to store, turns into something about Obama.
I'm not surprised. For people who used to complain about Bush being blamed for everything, ya'll sure seem to take the slighest angle and turn into something about Obama.

Actually, now that I read the whole story, I think the woman might be loony tunes:
The rioters are even crazier than she is - but common sense is not a trait ingrained in everybody. I don't have to take a philosophy class or read long-winded posts to understand that something is jacked up if someone just offered me a $500 gift certificate for free merch.
I think she is a batshyt crazy mofo. You can put that one in the books.

Lose a day of business and stay through all hours of the night cleaning the store, taking inventory, and checking security tapes. I'm guessing that there aren't too many (if any) outdoor cameras that they could use to track down license plates and people who just disappeared out of the blue. The place used to be a Schottenstein's (the same people who have naming rights to Ohio State's Schottenstein Center/Value City Arena) that had sold some secondhand merchandise - it does make me wonder just what kind of customers would frequent the store then and now, even under the name Burlington Coat Factory.
You have to wonder what these same people do when Obama runs out of his funny money. More rioting and looting are on the horizon I suppose.
Tens of thousands of people in Detroit lined up for "Obama Money". Fights broke out and it was a near riot.
Maybe it was just practice for looting and rioting at Burlington Coat Factory.

I realize letting the Big Three go under would give you fake Libertarians a big old chubby, but it would also completely detonate the economy. As for the unions, how dare they expect their employers to live up to the bargains they freely negotiated for? They should really retire to their shanties and take whatever the plutocrats deign to give them.

If you read the post, I am puzzled as to why you are wondering who I am referring to.
"Those people in Detroit" were actually people in Detroit. I stated that they "were pretty specific that they were in line for "Obama Money".
And here is the relevant passage with a quote from the people I am talking about:
Obama! Obama! (laughing)
I am talking about actual people, but I don't have a source that can tell me their names. How would you like me to reference "those people"? Pray tell? I can't wait for an explanation.
Now instead of saying "those people", maybe I should have said "Woman #1 and Woman #2 in my quote above were pretty specific that they were in line for "Obama Money". Those weren't my words."
Let us compare the way the two flow:
Those people in Detroit were pretty specific that they were in line for "Obama Money". Those weren't my words.
Woman #1 and Woman #2 in my quote above were pretty specific that they were in line for "Obama Money". Those weren't my words.
Which line would you choose? I went with "those people", and I think from a reader’s viewpoint that flows much better and conveys the same point. Even an ordinary moron could figure out who I was talking about. I guess I didn't realize I was dealing with an extra-ordinary moron. Give yourself a prize and a pat on the back.
To state it again, when I said "those people", I was actually talking about people. People I had just quoted in the same thread. Those people. I wasn't talking about other people, or all people, or some people, I was talking about those people. These are people with real flesh and blood. I singled them out. Those people!
I was talking about these specific people:
Obama! Obama! (laughing)
Now "those people" actually are actual people. It isn't some generality. "Those people" actually said that. It was "those people" that I was talking about. I wasn't talking about anyone else. I wasn't talking about your mother. I wasn't talking about Kathy Griffin or her gay following. I was talking about Woman #1 & Woman #2, which I conveniently shortened to "those people".
How could you possibly miss this? How could you get that so wrong? You actually wondered who I was talking about? You are a complete moron. Seriously, total and complete in all aspects. You have moron covered.
I am not insinuating that you are a moron or using code words. I am stating that you have no clue and that you are an actual living moron in the flesh. And I think I proved my case.
If you search the term "those people" on this forum it comes up with over 250 different hits. One of them is actually yours moron:
And those people would be retards.
Take a look in the mirror "retard".
