I hope everyone is doing well. I have been thinking about making this request/post for a while.
In April I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I am 28 years old and it was a total shock to me. Everything happened very fast and within 24 hours they completed the surgery to remove the testicle. The next few months were pretty hectic with dealing with all of the decisions that had to be made as well as the stress of dealing with the news. The cancer was classified as a Stage 1 Non Seminoma Germ Cell Tumor and we caught it very early. I have been doing what they call active surveillance for the past few months. This includes regular blood tests, chest x-rays, CT scans etc. Things have been progressing well and I have my 6 month testing day tomorrow. Anyone that could say a quick prayer for me it would be much appreciated. The other reason why I wanted to make this post is to spread the awareness of being able to catch this cancer early. Self testing is very important to help with early detection. Watching the NFL games and seeing all of the awareness for breast cancer is amazing and I want to spread awareness of TC as well. So my request is to for all you men out there take a quick second and make sure all of you are up on your self checks. As for the woman on the board please do the same with the breast cancer self check. Thanks in advance for the prayers. Can't wait for the season to get going. Go X!

God's speed to you -- prayers offered.
This hits close to home, as my brother went through what you are going through at the age of 27, but in 1981.
Thank God for your early detection and your positive frame of mind. And good for you to remind others of this form of cancer. If I recall correctly, the mid to late 20's age range is very susceptible to it.

yeah, sort of strange to see the dominance of the breast cancer movement.
Edit: just checked my balls.

Prayers are being sent your way....I have notice that they do alot about breast cancer, I believe May and October are big months that they promote all month...for men we get one day (Father's Day) when they promote Prostate awareness....I think we deserve a whole month to to remind men to get physicals and check your balls and ass.....

When girls get motivated behind a cause, they really go all out. And they will not be turned away.
Isn't heart disease the number 1 killer in our country? You almost never see any campaigns for that. Plus, seems like every other week I hear about some one having a heart attack.
Anyways, keep fighting the good fight man...

yes, it's definitely heart disease. I know many have also criticized the disproportionate amount of funding towards AIDS research.

Why is that? Cause of testosterone levels?
Bobby, I pray for you. And thanks for sharing something so personal.

Bobby, I am sure you know about it, but Lance Armstrongs Foundation has a ton of info about testicular cancer and how to deal with it, not only medically, but emotionally, psychologically, and with family. There is a very good support structure in place for information and, well, just support.
I will say a prayer and hope for the best for you. God bless.

Bobby, been through a different kind of cancer and I'm a lot older than you. That said, I know the wonderful effect and value of prayer requests made on this board and on MM. I certainly will have you in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there friend. BTW, each of the prayer requests is appreciated, because it gives us, all of us, a chance to help in an albeit seemingly small way that ain't so small.:D

Prayers to you, and never hesitate to ask.
As you already know, testicular cancer is among the most curable. Unlike other cancers, that's still overwhelmingly true even if it has metastacized, which yours has not given the Stage 1 diagnosis.
Stay positive and keep us posted.

Prayers for you Bobby and all those suffering from cancer. It is a destroyer of so many families.
