Wow, talk about your conspicuous consumption. Anyway, took my dad over to Mall Hell for his exercise. We checked out the new portion of the mall and he went kaput right at the entrance. So we are both sitting in overstuffed chairs, on display, really, and I notice these Sex in the City wannabees drooling over some pumps. They circle and repeat. They finally acknowledge it's not in the budget and move on.
So I make my way over and notice this Valentino footwear. I pick them up and ask my dad what he thinks they are worth. He guesses a ridiculously low $50. I turn them over and the tag reads $795.
I felt really poor driving home in my $1,000 1994 Corolla.
Also, lotta cougars in that joint. You can always find cougars anywhere they sell makeup promising the fountain of youth. The Garvin Double Play is to hit the lunch crowd at Fresh Market(it's teeming with ClearChannel sales hotties) and then hit Cougar Towm.

Moral: You could probably get some pumps from the hotties but it would cost you $795.

I still have a hard time believeing that there are enough people in Cincinnati willing to pay $800 for shoes to keep a store that pricey open.
That being said, Saks downtown has been around for a while, so somebody is buying the stuff.

These comments are confusing. Wouldn't a double-play mean that you struck out at the Fresh Market? If you do manage to connect somewhere along the way on this double-play, isn't the $1000 Corolla going to break the spell? How is this working out for you?
As for the shoe search, those girls weren't shopping, they were pre-shopping. They will come by later with some sap and tell him, "Aren't they adorable, and they are ONLY $795!" He won't want to spend $795 on shoes, but he won't want to admit that he can't buy them without giving a hoot about the money.

How many God damn articles did the Enquirer write about this store? The only story written about more is the coyote problem in Cincinnati. This store is all I hear chicks talk about nowadays. It must really get them jacked up.

It is like a religious experience plus best orgasm ever all rolled into one. If someone else pays, it even tops that.

True enough. That's why you will only see that store at the Kenwood Mall but there is still some big time money around that area. Just take a look at the cars in the lot sometime. I happened to run over there (the mall) to run an errand during the day recently. Fred speaks the truth. There are a quite a few MILFS amd/or Cougars in that mall.

I have that same though about a lot of places. Pick any store in Hyde Park square. Or that weird furniture place on the corner of 8th and Main. Who buys this stuff? Nobody I know.
But then I go to things like Taste of Cincinnati and see 40,000 people, and know like 2 of them. I guess some of those people shop at some of those stores.

By the same token, I don't know what kind of person buys some of those lawn ornaments that show up in the lawn and garden centers every year but they keep showing up. There's a whole network dedicated to stuff I'd never buy. Believe me: I'll spend $795 on a pair of shoes before I'll spend $7.95 on a plastic goose to put in my yard.

See, these people I know. They are the same people that say "double-wide" with pride. I delivered pizza in college and had to deliver to a couple of trailer parks. I think it's reasonably safe to say that 90% of the world's production of ugly lawn ornaments winds up in trailer parks.

I hear these fine lawn ornaments can be found in trailer parks throughout Dayton...

I was going to suggest taking a cab.
