I've been fortunate in my life to have witenssed some incredible live music performances that run the gamut from The Cleveland Orchesrta to AC/DC and almost everything in between- in big arenas/stadiums to small venues/clubs. I'm sure all of us, have one band or musician that we have always wanted to see in person, but for whatever reason, have never been able to.
Mine is Neil Young. I have almost every album/compilation he has ever issued from Buffalo Springfield , then from his first solo album to The new Fork in the Road but have never been able to see him live. That is one of the items on my "bucket list."
How about y'all?

I'm a metal/big hair guy. Seen just about all of those that I wanted to see...Kiss, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Cinderlla, Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Metallica, Judas Priest, Van Halen plus a ton more. A couple of guys I'd like to see that are on the opposite spectrum that I've wanted to see are Elton John, Prince and Neil Diamond. Have heard all of those are really good shows. One band that I'll never get to see unfortunately is Queen. God rest Freddy Mercury's soul.

Some vocal improv with the crowd:

Interview of him and Michael Jackson's friendship:

He says he was originally supposed to be on Thriller since they were friends. Rumor is Michael Jackson saw Mercury doing coke and it scared MJ off

Thanks Jimmy. I actually own that dvd. It's great but I haven't watched it in a while. Watching/listening to it now using your links. Thanks. Watching it again makes it all that much more painful that I never saw them. Freddy is an absolute vocal God. I cringe any time one of those hacks on American Idol try to do a Queen song. The only other person that can sing like him are Elton John and George Michael.

Supposedly the guy from American Idol will tour with Queen as the lead singer. Forgot his name, but I remember someone telling me that.
I would have liked to see Queen live as well.
I worked at Riverbend for a little bit so I saw some of those concerts from backstage when I could. Pretty cool to see it from that angle.

I agree - I would have loved to have been in the front row for Freddie Mercury.
The one band I would love to see right now is Muse. They are touring the states and will be playing in my sister's town in North Carolina early next month... on the first weekend of my weekend class for Grad School.

Great call with Muse. I would like to see U2 as well. Springsteen.
Some older legends I'd like to have seen live:
Rat Pack or any combination of Sinatra/Dean Martin/Sammy Davis Jr
Ray Charles
Elvis
Jimi Hendrix/Stevie Ray Vaughn/Slash guitar session
BB King/Muddy Waters
Queen
I guess Michael Jackson even though it wasn't my era at all, but a concert would probably be pretty cool
Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Theres more I just can't think of many right now and I have to head out

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Pink Floyd.
What a combo, huh?

I agree with Pink Floyd and Queen. I'd add to that list Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) and Starship (in the era when Grace Slick was most under the influence of some mind-altering drug --- she was special).
I'd also love to see Aerosmith, Jesse Cook, and Leftover Salmon.
I've enjoyed concerts featuring Joe Cocker, Heartless Bastards, Over the Rhine, Tommy Emmanuel, the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars, Manhattan Transfer, Bruce Hornsby, Bela Fleck, The Texas Guitar Women, (100's by...) The Cincinnati Symphony/Pops Orchestra, and the Decemberists.
Also, although I've been to Red Rock, I've never seen a concert there. I'd love to experience that before I croak.

There are actually not bands touring right now that I would really like to see - now if Crowded House torus, I'd love to see them.
The bands I'd like to see are too old to really be that good, or their lineup has changed. The two I'd really like to see are The Kinks from the mid-70's and Van Halen during the 1984 tour. I saw The Spinners but it was after Phillippe Wynne passed away - would have loved to see them when he was still alive. Also saw the Temps a couple times - their original lineup (after Ruffin joined) would have been legendary.

I know people Love or Hate him, but DMB LIVE is an absolute spectacle. Jack Johnson is also pretty good live.
I would love to see Phish live, never managed to do it.

I was lucky enough to see Janis Joplin in Freedom Hall in Louisville in 1970- four months before she died- and saw Pink Floyd in one of those "World Series of Rock" shows in mamouth Cleveland Stadium in 1977. Janis performed with her new group- The Full Tilt Boogie Band. The most memorable thing about that show to me was the almost full bottle of Southern Comfort that Janis downed during the show. The opening act that night was a band named Seatrain who featured fiddles and did a great version of Foggy Mountain Breakdown. The Pink Floyd show drew 83,000 people and featured stuff from Animals. Dogs is still one of my favorites.
Both were incredible spectacles, but because of the enormity of both places, there were definite sonic disadvantages.

Seen, and loved, in no particular order.
Robin Trower (first concert) , Allman Brothers, BOC (at Edgewater Park!!!), CDB with Marshall Tucker Band, ZZ Top, The Who, Springsteen, Buffett (who hasn't), Leon Redbone, Van Morrison, Billy Joel, Pure Prarie League, Kiss, The Outlaws, Pousette Dart Band, Sam Kinnison, Heart. Many more but missing many brain cells, the result of many concerts.
Missed out on,
Spinal Tap, Big Bottoms!
Meat Loaf, Bat out of Hell tour, would give left nut.
Meat Loaf now, wouldn't pay a nickel.

Radiohead and the Fleet Foxes....I would also like to see REM if they did a show where they only played songs up to Automatic For The People.
While I've already seen them once, I'd also really like to see The Shins and Arcade Fire again.

Too late now, the good days of live Phish are way past them. Saw their tour when they hit Chicago a few months ago and it was really not impressive. Fun to see them again, and playing much better than the 2004 tour (immediately prior to the hiatus) but it just does not compare to the mid 90's shows or even 2000 tour. Obviously if you are a fan (or a phan) I would recommend seeing them, but know that the band is a bit boiled down in comparison to previous years.

Tool - supposed to be an amazing and high energy live show.
System of a Down - absolutely crazy and amazing band. Cannot imagine what an indoor show would be like.
Transiberian Orchestra - ok, nevermind I actually do not want to see them...
SRV & Jimi - 2 of the greatest guitarists ever.
Beatles - obvious
Sublime - want to see them play a house party back in the day
Beastie Boys - circa mid 90's, this show would be phenomenal. Saw them at Bonnaroo this year and enjoyed it, but it left a lot to be desired.
Kris Cross - who does not want to wear your jeans backwards and have that be socially acceptable???
Louis Armstrong - Satchmo is one of the finest musicians ever.
Nirvana - Like Sublime, house party...insane...young Dave Grohl
Foo Fighters - I imagine it to be rowdy and loud. And they just pump out hit after hit.
Ramones - see Nirvana, Sublime
Bob Marley - for some reason I have forgotten why
Queen - badass
The Yardbirds - Interesting collection of some of the greatest ever.
The Mars Volta - high energy, quality band
Prodigy - one song: Smack My Bitch Up. Who honestly does not want to get a couple brews in them and get your adrenaline pumping to that song...nobody?...nobody?
Many more, but I think that will suffice for the time being.

Which version of the Yardbirds do you want to see? Early with Clapton or later with Page/Beck?

Led Zeppelin. Sometimes I can picture it when I'm watching the Black Crowes. That would have been a wild time.
There are some shows I'd like to witness for the crowd more than the show.

I saw the Beatles @ the Indy Fairgrounds when in HS @ Cathedral. There was so much crowd mayhem, I could only really hear the start of each song. Saw Jimi Hendricks too. Crazy. Would have loved to seen Freddie and Queen, as well, of course, Janis.

Wow, this blog has such a wide of array of bands listed. You can tell the age of many in here by which band they have seen. This is a diverse group
I would have loved to seen Kansas. The worst thing is I have never seen Kiss. That is a show I always wnated to see.
There really aren't many groups playing now that i would pay to see. Maybe Pearl Jam and Velvet Revovler.

I would love to have seen Alice in Chains with Layne Staley. I saw them yesterday with the new singer and it was still a great show. I always though Jerry Cantrell was the key to their sound.
