Should be an interesting day in the Mahoning Valley tomorrow. I lived there when Jimbo was Mahoning County Sheriff and for his first couple of terms as US Rep. He is a nut job, but the people there love him. These are the same people who think the steel mills are coming back to the valley. The guy is entertaining to be sure, but man he is a thief like few others.

Whether 7 years fits the crime or not, it's still a long time behind bars... Over 10% of his life to this point.

Jimmy is a guy I would vote for. Yes, he might be a little shady, but I don't think he's any different than most others except for the fact that he got caught. But, ultimately, he was good for the common person. From what I have been told, people felt safer, felt they were being represented, felt he made his area a better place.

Youngstown / Warren area voting for Jimmy in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
I saw MANY "Traficant for Congress" yard signs while he was in jail. It's like Marion Berry in DC. Inexplicably, they just love the guy.

Actually I did vote for Jimbo the first two times he ran for Congress. But, then I moved away and didn't have the chance to vote for him again. The longer he was in office the more loony he got. Not sure I could have voted for him again. The guy who took Traficant's place is Tim Ryan from Niles is a very up and coming young Congressman. He was an aide to Jimbo while he was in Congress, so he knows some of the tactics to make him effective without being insane.
